well I have something to tell you. The rockets aren't, strictly speaking, parabolas.
It looks like they might be hyperbolas or a more complicated path, but they aren't parabolas.
It's weird, I know. I'm not sure exactly what but if you look carefully you can see that almost everything is a parabola, but the rocket paths are not symmetrical. The beginning of the piercer arc is very straight, but it arcs down after a bit. then it seems to go into a parabolic path.

It still could be a parabola, a wide squared term and a narrow x term would make the arms of the parabola a bit straighter.

I do not think they are hyperbolas though.

Rockets fly in a straight line for a few pixels before the parabola actually begins. Don't know whether this is realistic or not-just saying.

It's not a complete straight line. Some particular parabolas have virtually straight lines anyway.
