Plants do not have to be alive to be eaten. Rabbits eat mostly dead grasses and herbs in the winter, as well as twigs and tree bark. All of this will be available to eat, not to mention that it is not moonless midnight dark. In open areas, I'm pretty sure some hardy low-light plants could persist, and yes, rabbits will eat fungi. They certainly wouldn't do well but I can't see them dying out completely. |

And if all photosynthesis was impossible for a few years, all phytoplankton that could not go dormant should have gone extinct. That did not happen. |
