I don't know where to put it, so I'll just put it here :P
This is walking with myths; like walking with dinosaurs/beasts, but then with mythical creatures.

Greece; 1400 BC
Out of bushes appears a family of Erymanthian boars; these rhino-sized suids are in search for food. The family consists of the parents with their three young, which are playing along the bushes, while the parents thoroughly search the ground for food to feed the young. But what they don't know, is that they're being watched by Greece's deadliest ambush predator. One of the young gets too close; a scaly tail suddenly appears out of the bushes and it's bone club-like end hits the boar, resulting in a large, bleeding wound and some broken ribs. A Chimaera the size of a jaguar jumps out of the bushes on top of the mother, attacking it with its sharp claws and powerful bite. The boar doesn't stand a chance, but it fights so the rest has a chance to escape. When the boar is finally dead, the rest has escaped, but the Chimaera has enough for some days to come. He drags the prey in to the bushes, and starts eating.

The night falls, a bit futher away in the forest strange creatures leave their burrows. These are Satyrs, nocturnal macaque-sized monkeys with hoofed hind legs and small horns. This is a group of 25 individuals, which is quite small, seeing that these groups can grow up to 60 individuals. They are in search for food; some dig for roots and scavenge for fruits, while others hunt on nocturnal insects, one of them has even found the carcass of a young Erymanthian boar. They are omnivorous, eating everything they can find, from leaves, roots and fruits, to carrion, insects and small lizards and fish. They've found an open place where they'll eat the food, sharing the things they got among the young ones. It's time to find their mates; all the males start "singing" and "dancing" wildly, and the females will watch; choosing the males that sing and dance the best to be their mates. On the islands of Greece live minotaurs, cousins of the Satyrs. These horned primates are much bigger than their cousins, being the size of a bull. They live in herds consisting of two dozen individuals, they are also omnivores. While the herd is grazing peacefully, they're being approached by one of the strongest hunters of Greece; the Nemean Lion. A lion-like feline the size of a mini-van, with a strong leathery skin. Just in time one of the males discovers the predator, and warns the herd, which then forms a circle around the females and young, with their big horns poiting outwards. The Nemean lion roars loudly, and walks around the circle, but leaves when he sees that he got no chance.

A reptilian head sticks out of a hole in a cliff. The whole cliff is full of these holes; entrances of a large tunnel system with many chambers. These tunnels are home to Scylla, eusocial reptiles. In the heart of the tunnel system lies the biggest chamber, in which the queen lives. The queen is the biggest of them all, and also the only fertile female. They are impregnated by fertile males, called gladiators. They compete in the second-biggest chamber to see which'll be the best mate for the queen, hence the name. They compete by screeching, baring their teeth and by opening their colourfull frill, which only princes have. The rest of the chambers are either sleeping burrows, hatcheries or food storages. Infertile females care for the eggs and the young in the hatcheries. The infertile males hunt on birds from the higher holes, and hunt fish from the lower ones. They have a remarkable trait which they use for hunting; they have long, flexible necks with which they lunge from the holes to cath their prey.

Are you going to do Mesoamerica? Its legendary creatures are unappreciated, in my opinion.

Until now the things I was thinking about were Australia, Japan and the life cycle of scandinavian trolls. But the mesoamerican is a real good plan. Any creatures you want in it? :)

Hmm... Ahuizotl, definitely. Also Cipactli and the Vision Serpent. Would be interesting to see the Nagual done, but given that they are sapient humans with supernatural powers, I'm not sure if that fits with the theme.

Japan; 274 BC
It's summer time; on the now warm subarctic tundra of northern Japan a herd of Baku. These boar-sized creatures are distant cousins of the tapirs, sharing a common trait; their trunk-like noses. These trunks have special glands that release a narcotic gas when they are threatened. Besides this their only other defense is their safety in numbers, as they aren't fast or strong, and don't have horns or tusks. This particular herd consists of 65 individuals. But danger is near, a pair of their deadliest predators is moving stealthy towards them. These stealthy predators are Komainu, grey lion-like felines with short snouts, muscled bodies and darkgreen manes. They always hunt in pairs, the male and female together, they'll stay with their partner for whole of their live. They jump out of the grass onto some baku, which quickly release their narcotic gasses from their trunks. But the Komainu have a handy trait for hunting baku; they're immune to the narcotic effects of baku's gas. While the rest of the herd has escaped, the Komainu begin to eat and then leave, after a succesfull hunt. A few moments later, the smell of a dead Baku attracts another of Japan's mythical felines. A small group of Nue arrive; these small striped felines with their bald heads are distant family of the greek Chimaera, having also a scaled tail, but without the bony club. The scavenging nue quickly eat the carcass of the Baku, leaving only the bones, before another group of Nue arrives.

In the forest a group of small creatures sit on the branch of a tree, with their long tongues they catch flying insects. These creatures look oddly familiar, they are Gama Toads, big toads with grey skin. But one thing is special about these little wonders; they only have three legs: Two in front, one behind. Because of this they can't move really fast, but they can hang on branches really good. To move between different places they have their own ways. A Kirin walks by the toads, they jump of the branch and fall on the Kirin's back, staying there until they find another place to stay. But the Kirin itself is also a wondrous being. With its yellowy fur and bright-red manes it stands out in its environment. This hoofed beauty has one deerantler-like horn on the front of its head, a trait that all unicorn-like species have. The Kirin is fast and agile, which it uses to evade predators. After searching for a while the Kirin has finally found some fruit, but it's high up so the Kirin stands up with its front legs against the tree. This is the perfect opportunity for its riders to get on a new branch, so the toads jump of and hang on to another branch; eating insects and waiting for another ride.

A herd of Lungs is peacefully grazin in a mountainous area. With their moustache-like appendages, beards made of big scales, small antler-like horns pointing backwards and their sleek, long, bright blue bodies, they are truly majestic creatures. This herd is medium-sized, consisting of 40 individuals. They'll stay in the area for some time, since the females have just laid their eggs. A female lays only one egg each time, after a long mating dance with their life-long partner. Lungs are one of the only fully herbivorous dragon species. Two younger males have wandered off; suddenly a loud roar is heard across the area, followed by some screaks. The unfortunate lungs were killed by the apex predators of the mountainous areas of Japan; the Oni. These beasts have a red skin and black-haired head and back, large tusks and two sets of horns. They walk on their knuckles, slowly approaching their prey, when they are close enough they stand up, roar loudly and slam their powerful hands into the unfortunate prey. Oni are far cousins of the Scandinavian trolls. The Oni eat all of their prey, until nothing is left. When they're finally done, the only thing left of their prey is a pool of blood.
