Rules!
1 - Remember that there are real people behind each character and just like you have feelings, so do they. Respect them and they should respect you.

3 - Respect the character you want to role play with. If they are with a character that is the same as yours, they might not be comfortable playing with your character. Nothing personal, but it's common courtesy to respect their wishes. Also, take into account that some people do not like to role play with characters outside of their show.

4 - Don't play a character that you're not familiar with. Know your character. Also, don't hide behind a character to be in a relationship. Role play is role play, it's not your dating service.

5 - OOC - Means "Out of Character" Please indicate by using ooc, //, ( ) "" '' if you have anything to say that out of character. Anything not character related should be in OOC.

6 - Keep it somewhat real. Having your characters meet, get together, have sex, get engaged, get married, get pregnant (especially with multiple babies - which isn't as common as people think - plus know your character history - would there be twins or triplets in their family history?), have the babies and then be pregnant again, all in the span or a couple of weeks is not realistic.

7 - Drama - It's okay to have drama in your role play. It's not okay when you go overboard. Some people are not comfortable with certain scenarios eg. rape, incest, abortion, death of babies or abuse of children are some examples. It would be better to discuss this before hand with the person you want to rp with. Also, if someone isn't comfortable with the storyline, they should feel okay with going ooc and saying their feelings. Don't push them.

8 - Don't be a role play snob. Some people aren't as wordy as others. Or the language you role play with, might not be their first language. If they put the effort in, then so should you. Also, remember that replying with one word or one line is harder to respond to. Both sides should make an effort to have something that's replyable to in their post.

9 - If you are in a role play fourm and someone replied to your post, reply to theirs. It's common courtesy, even if you have nothing to ask or anything important to say, make an effort.

10 - This role play is partly based in real time for things like injuries, it takes 3 days to go from each stage of injury with the worst being severe, the best being mild,
and the one in between being refered to as moderate. However, if a character is injured in one thread, they won't be injured in another thread they were in. A similar
rule follows death, if a character dies, they may no longer be in that specific thread, but they are welcome to play anywhere else.

11 - This takes place many many years bc, around or even before midevil times, before there was really even history.
However, remember there would not be cell phones and computers. However, and enchanted amulate allowing direct
thought and semi-visual connection between two characters wearing specific amulates, would be fine.

12 - There are forbidden names here, and character's locked out until the names are changed if they are:
Futuristic names, Advertising names, Offensive names, Realworld names, Obscene names, Gibberish names,
Trademarked names, Modernspeak names, Sentence names, or Funny/Inappropriate names.
((For Examples see Further Names)

13 - If you have more than one character, use a different color per character or use a different post for each characters actions, it's easier for everyone.

14 - Please use Spell check—no one wants to read your typos, it puts them off. Typos are fine, of course, but make an effort to spell check your posts.

15 - This is related but, no chatspeak in IC. Everyone hates it. You can’t read it. Please don’t do if the creator of the board doesn’t want you too.

16 - Post length—quality over quantity obviously, but you should describe your character at length so people get a feeling of who your character is. Not only current appearance but things like personality, history, flaws, the stuff that makes a human interesting.

17 - Use proper grammar in IC—that means capitalization, quotation marks, etc.

18 - Make your best effort to write intriguing and interesting posts—everyone gets better at writing and roleplaying and until then ask questions so you can learn.

Tips!

1. Do not use words repeatedly. For example: He got up and got dressed. He walked into the washroom. He picked up a brush and he brushed his teeth. He walked into his room once again. He pushed open his door. He left his house. See? it gets annoying. 4. Make sure you have more than just a sentence. A truely gifted roleplayer can stretch one sentance into atleast three paragraphs.

2. Pay attention and read about what is going on around you. Try and effectively jump into situations where you would otherwise be left out of the general flow. Not that that is a bad thing alot of people enjoy just roleplaying on their own. Doing their own nuts.

3. Description is the meat of your post. Describe, describe, describe. You are painting a picture for people to look at, so you should make it good. What ever you do, do it with description. Don't just say that you ran from the enemy, say you ran like a deer away from a fire. Say that the table wasn't only green, but that it had elvish runes carved into it. Did you kill something? Well then say how you killed it. Now too much detail can be a problem sometimes, but if you are having that problem, just back off a little bit and you'll be fine. The point of description is just so that people reading it can get a mental picture of what is going on. You don't want your character to just stand there with his hands straight down at his sides while he talks.

4. Did you proofread the post at least once?
Sometimes you can make a mistake and not even notice! Hit that Preview button to make sure your post looks good. You might have forgotten to capitalize a name, or you might have made a typing mistake. You'll want to correct these before anyone else sees your post!

5. Is it too short?
Holy cow! Make sure your post takes up more space than your signature - if you see that your post is shorter than this, try writing just a bit more. Remember, this is a forum and not a chat - if you find that you are making really short posts, suggest to your fellow friends that you move to the chat to continue roleplaying.

6. Remember, forum posts are available for everyone to see. Forever.
Any time someone searches for you, they will find your posts! Think about what your parents (or potential employer!) would think if they read your post. Are you posting something that you would be proud of, or are you posting something that you wouldn't want your grandparents to see? Think carefully, posts on forums are permanent, but chat posts go away quickly.

7. Sometimes it helps to look around.
Flip through a couple pages of someone else's successful roleplay, and ask yourself "What made this roleplay so good?" -- then identify how you can learn from what they did. Don't hesitate to ask questions!

8. You can learn a lot from everyone.
All other players have their own experiences to share, even other beginners like yourself. Sit down and listen to their story, too - you could gain some valuable pointers.

Furthers!

((Further God-modding))
WHAT NOT TO DO: Vincent sneaks up behind Alice, and plunges a pair of scissors in her back. She falls on the ground bleeding.
WHAT TO DO: Vincent sneaks up behind Alice, and lunges at her, trying to stab her with a pair of scissors.

Another part of God modding is when you make yourself invincible.
Now, there's nothing wrong with trying not to get killed, but it would be a bit strange if by the
end of a story you haven't been hurt once, while everyone else is laying beat up on the ground.
Giving yourself unlimited health ^ or unlimited speed are examples of unrealistic stats.

Here are some longer examples I got from a different website.
Good Example:
Elly knocked the head off one of the advancing Scourge, shouting to her comrade Rajhin, "We can't keep this up! There are simply too many of them!" It was then that she noticed that behind the tidal wave of Scourge stood a single Forsaken, the one they had seen before called Kamith. He was holding his hand up high and shouting an incantation. She quickly slashed through the mass of Scourge, hoping she could interrupt him in time.
Critique: This establishes what is happening and does not take control of other's characters at all, assuming that Kamith had already posted that he was beginning to cast something.

Ok Example:
Elly knocked the head off one of the advancing Scourge, shouting to her comrade Rajhin, who seemed to be having trouble, "We can't keep this up! There are simply too many of them!" Rajhin shouted back, "Ya mon! We need ta be getting away!" It was then that she noticed that behind the tidal wave of Scourge stood a single Forsaken, the one they had seen before called Kamith. He was holding his hand up high and shouting an incantation. She quickly slashed through the mass of Scourge, raising her mallet to bring it down on Kamith's head.
Critique: This isn't too bad. Elly, however, is determining how Rajhin is fairing against his foes, which is a no-no, plus she is putting words in his mouth. What if Rajhin wants to keep on fighting to the death? Elly also reaches Kamith and is about to smash him. Sure she leaves that up to him, but what if he had wanted to do something while the two of them were still at a fair distance? All in all, this isn't all that bad, but treads the line of God-Moding quite dangerously.

Not Good Example:
Elly knocked the head off one of the advancing Scourge, shouting to her comrade Rajhin, who had been stabbed in the leg and was bleeding profusly, "We can't keep this up! There are simply too many of them!" Rajhin shouted back, "Ya mon! IWe need ta be getting away!" It was then that she noticed that behind the tidal wave of Scourge stood a single Forsaken, the one they had seen before called Kamith. He was holding his hand up high and shouting an incantation. She quickly slashed through the mass of Scourge, smashing her mallet into his side, interrupting his spell. He got back to his feet quickly and usheathed his dagger. "Meddling Paladin! You will die!"
Critique: This simply takes too many allowances. First off, Elly has portrayed Rajhin's fight in a way he probibly doesn't want. Again, always leave personal fighting against NPC's to the individual. Secondly, she puts words in both of the other players' mouths. What if Kamith wanted to act slyly and not say a word, pretend he was dead? That is the kind of thing only the other player can determine. This is definitely God-Moding, but can be played if the others let it slide, but Elly will probably get a comment about it.

Bad Example:
Elly knocked the head off one of the advancing Scourge, shouting to her comrade Rajhin, who was barely conscious after the severe injuries he had sustained, "We can't keep this up! There are simply too many of them!" Rajhin could only scream as yet another blade entered his side. It was then that she noticed that behind the tidal wave of Scourge stood a single Forsaken, the one they had seen before called Kamith. He was holding his hand up high and shouting an incantation. She quickly slashed through the mass of Scourge, smashing her mallet into his side, interrupting his spell. He lay on the floor, nearly dead an drained of all his power. "You can kill me, but my spirit and power will linger on, Light blinded Paladin!" Elly just sneered and brought her mallet down on his skull crushing it. The Scourge behind her fell apart, saving Rajhin from an assured death.
Critique: This is just bad as far as God-Moding goes. She portrays Rajhin as an almost incompetent fighter, obviously with much less skill than her. She then not only interrupts Kamith, puts a lot of words in his mouth, but also kills him! And to top it off, she just ended the battle before any of the others had a chance to do anything. This kind of thing is unacceptable.

Bad Just For Fun Example:
Elly lit into the advancing Scourge army, taking out dozens of them with every swipe. Rajhin, however, fell without even taking out a single one. She sighed, raising him from the dead while keeping the tide of Scourge away with one hand. "Must I always say your ass, Rajhin?" "I be sorry, miss Elly. I be incompetent," he replied. She laughed and proceeded to destroy the rest of the Scourge army with a few swipes. She noticed The Forsaken Kamith trying to cast a spell, but his obvious fear of her kept his hands shaking and kept him from concentrating. She walked up to him as he begged, "Please! Please don't kill me! I just wanted to be a real boy!" She Destroyed him with a single flick of her finger, his body exploding. "Well, Rajhin, my clumsy sidekick, I think all is well in Azeroth again." And with that, they all lived happily ever after.
Critique:...
