Students of the Salem Institute preparing to return home for the winter holidays bore witness to a scene of grim terror as four criminals believed to be part of a group calling themselves the "Seven Deadly Sins" entered the school grounds through a heretofore-unknown breach in the school's defenses and attacked the school's lighthouse, disabling it. One student was killed in the attack, and three others were injured.

Identified via pensieve as the attackers were Harlan Maxwell, Desirae D'Angelo, and Mahu Makenui. A fourth attacker, identified as Andrew Price, who was believed to have been controlled through the Imperius curse, was killed during the attack. Maxwell, the Executive Assistant Director of the FBI's Magic Criminal Investigative Division has been positively identified as the culprit who murdered the Salem student, whose name is being withheld at the request of his family.

In the wake of this attack, arrest warrants have been issued for all three culprits. Maxwell has reportedly fled his position and home, and possibly the country, as well. The FBI's MCID has appointed Timothy Reagan as temporary Executive Assistant Director following the attack. In a press conference this morning, Reagan pledged to do everything in his power to bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice.

Parents' groups have raised concerns over the number of incidents that have befallen Salem Institute this year, and some are calling for the school to be shut down and its students parsed out to other schools until such time as the Institute can be made safe. Conversely, school officials at the Institute insist that appropriate measures to ensure the safety of its students are being taken, and the breach in the school's defenses has since been rectified. Officials at Salem also blame the incidents on the complicity of Federal law enforcement officials (Namely Maxwell) in the attacks. The school's board of directors will be convening with its principal and the National Board of Magical Education to address issues of student safety.

"This is a troubling time for the Salem Institute. We have lost a much-loved student who will always be remembered for his kindness, courage and gentle nature, and we have lost an alumni whose bright future was cut tragically short." Said Salem principal Liliana Cook at a press conference this morning. "But we will not succumb to fear, and we will do everything we can to protect our students from those who would threaten their safety."
