Unlike what some of his fellow keepers might think, Makepeace didn't spend all of his time canoodling Rebecca when they were together. No, he had heard the tale of Andrew's plight at the hands of his two bullies, and had started planning. More than planning, he had started preparing for an epic revenge scheme that would make his revenge against the Algers' Society look like a whoopie cushion in comparison. He'd set up a tent in the Salem Commons, having previously obtained a temporary street vendor's license, and after surrounding the tent with muggle-repelling charms that would make them see something that they would find unpleasant and walk away from (Jehova's Witness revival tent, Own Your Own Scenic Oklahoma Time-Share sales tent, etc.), he put a placard outside proclaiming it to be Madame Vlojavia's Tarot Card Reading. Then he'd sent owls to summon Rebecca and Andrew to the tent.

It was going to be fun. Wicked, evil fun.

He was currently dressed like Westley from The Princess Bride, because it was easy and cheap to do, and because Rebecca would appreciate it. The latter was the more important of the two, but the former was helpful, too... After all, he had had to spend a pretty penny on this scheme, and although he could probably get the money back, he didn't want to be a dick. Not when he'd be getting more than his money's worth in entertainment value.

Andrew had invited Iris to spend Halloween with him in Salem, so when he got the owl from Makepeace saying he should come to Madame Vlojavia's Tarot Card Reading, he'd told her to just meet him there. He was confused, not sure what the older boy could possibly want with him. Andrew knew Makepeace was dating Rebecca, but didn't really see what that would have to do with him. What this going to be some weird 'man to man' talk? Was that really necessary? Andrew figured he could at least show up and once Iris was there, it would give him an excuse to escape.

For Halloween, Andrew was dressed as Peter Pan. Iris would be coming as Wendy later. He was pretty proud of his costume, having constructed most of it himself. He'd made the tunic like top and the hat. He'd spent awhile on them, hand sewing on the leaf details on the sleeves. He wore a pair of green leggings underneath. The only thing that he thought fell short were the shoes. He wasn't sure what to wear, so he put on his normal cold weather boots. He didn't think they completely worked but since he couldn't make shoes himself, they would have to do.

Once in Salem, he found his way over to Makepeace's booth. "Hey... Makepeace?" He said when he arrived. He was pretty sure that was Makepeace, it was a little hard to tell what with the mask. "Nice costume. Wesley, right?" He and Rebecca might not get along well, but they still had some of the same interests. He had always liked The Princess Bride. He rocked back on his heels, feeling awkward with Makepeace and still wondering what was going on. Had he ever even had a full conversation with him?

"Are you serious?" Rebecca sighed as she stepped into the tent and saw that Andrew, too, was dressed as Peter Pan. In most stage productions, Peter was portrayed by a female. It was a role she thought she'd like to play, if the school ever did some version of Peter Pan. She would even get a Sandy Duncan haircut if she landed the role, because wigs were incredibly annoying.

"I'll be back," she grimaced and slipped back out into the open air. Finding the nearest port-a-potty, she jumped in and changed out of her daytime halloween costume and into her nighttime costume. It wasn't really even a costume. It was white bunny ears, a t-shirt, and jeans. With her Peter Pan costume stuffed safely into a tiny pouch resting against her hip, she returned to the fortune-teller's tent and kept a good distance between herself and Andrew. Despite being as grumpy as she was feeling now, Becca couldn't help but smile at Makepeace's costume. "A shame I don't have anything Princess Buttercup-y to wear," she screwed her lips to the side. "You make a good Westley."

"I, uh..." Makepeace stood there a little befuddled by Rebecca's entrance and subsequent outburst. "Um..." Because it was a little awkward to meet her little brother to begin with, and he didn't really get what Rebecca was upset about until his brain did the math -- He'd assumed at first that Andrew was dressed up not as Peter Pan. but Robin Hood. Because Peter Pan came off as a bit girly after being portrayed by Sandy Duncan and countless other women. "Yeah. You're Andrew? Good to meet you." He said, feeling a little ill at ease in the tense minutes before Rebecca returned.

"Well, if nothing else, we can re-enact parts of the movie later." he told Rebecca, a smile dawning on his face as he moved to put his hands on her waist. "I was about to suggest a rousing chorus of "Men in Tights" before you got back." he said, feeling a little less on-edge now that she was back.

Andrew was left with his mouth half open, caught in an automatic retort. "Uh, yeah, you too.... " He answered Makepeace distractedly, still looking at where Rebecca had just been. Now he was growing especially confused about what was going on. Rebecca didn't seem at all pleased to see him, so why was he here in the first place?

Andrew made a brief face of distaste when Makepeace said he and Rebecca could re-enact The Princess Bride together. Mostly because he didn't need the mental image of his sister doing anything explicit and partly because that kind of behavior didn't appeal to him at all. "So, uh, what's going on?" He asked, wanting to get straight to the point so he could leave as soon as possible. Hopefully this wasn't some sort of set up. He and Rebecca had seemed to have been getting on better than usual, which still wasn't all that great. But maybe he had done something to piss her off and she wanted to get him back.

Was Makepeace mixing up his Cary Elwes movies, or was he making a connection between them? Rebecca wasn't sure. Maybe he was commenting on Andrew's costume looking more Robin Hood than Peter Pan. Well, both costumes looked a lot alike. Maybe Andrew was Robin Hood. Boy, would she feel foolish if he was.

Becca appeared quite abashed at the comment Makepeace made about re-enacting scenes later. Her expression said 'not in front of the kid'. Maybe he had meant it innocently, but that wasn't the impression his words gave. Judging by Andrew's fleeting reaction, he'd taken it the same way. "Yeah, what's up with all this?" she asked her boyfriend, motioning to the tent, feeling a little better that Andrew also had no idea what was going on.

Makepeace gave Rebecca a slight nod as if to say, 'As you wish,' and then demurred, tuning so he could look between the two of them. "Well, I called you both here because Rebecca asked me for my advice on how to deal with a couple of older, bigger kids who were hassling you." He frowned as he said it, looking at Andrew. He didn't have a whole lot of meanness in his eyes -- no killer instinct and barely any cruelty. Probably like Makepeace himself had been before foster care. He could barely remember that kid. "And believe me, I've been there... But before I do anything, I wanted to ask if you want my help." Because he remembered what it was like when he was just starting out in school and Esther and her brothers intervened on his behalf without even asking if he wanted help to begin with.

He hadn't, despite the fact that he was probably a better person for their intervention. He had wanted to settle things as violently as possible. But Esther wouldn't let him. Even now, he thought about how good it would feel to make Andrew's bullies cry because he could. He wanted to. But that wouldn't exactly help Andrew, just make them target him whenever Makepeace wasn't around to push them around.

Andrew was surprised to hear that Rebecca didn't know what was going on either and even more surprised by how Makepeace answered the question. His answer left even more questions, really. Rebecca had really told him about what happened? Had she actually said it with concern? It had been a brief good moment between them and he would have thought she wouldn't have mentioned it to anyone. He looked over to Rebecca in confusion, the questions on his face but not passing his lips

"Um... " he wasn't sure how to respond. He wasn't naturally an untrusting person but it was difficult to imagine that this was all sincere, given his and Rebecca's track record. "What exactly did you have in mind?" He asked slowly, still looking unsure.

Iris giggled as she walked down the streets of Salem, wearing nothing but a nightgown and her slippers. In broad daylight! She was all dolled up as Wendy from Peter Pan and apart from her own nightgown and slippers (and the signature bow in her hair) she was equipped with a golden acorn around her neck and a plastic sword that she swung in front of her as if it were a real weapon. But to be honest, that wasn't the only reason she was smiling. No. She was meeting someone. A boy. And not just any boy. Andrew had invited her to meet him in Salem, and though her parents wouldn't like it, Iris was looking forward to her first date with a strange fluttering in her stomach.

Soon she saw Madame Vlojavia's Tarot Card Reading in front of her and the small group by it. She recognized her Peter Pan among them and it seemed her heart skipped a beat. She had loved the idea of making matching costumes and knew they would look incredibly cute together. She just hoped someone had a camera with them to capture it. She ran up to the boy and smiled. "Hi Andrew!" she breathed at him, her cheeks flushed from more than running, and turned around to get a view of the other two. It was Andrew's sister and what she could only assume was her boyfriend. "Hello", she greeted them and put her hand out to grab theirs in a very polite and lady-like manner. But it seemed she had joined the group at a very unconvinient moment and she let her hand drop. She couldn't find a smile anywhere ishe looked and her own started to waver. "What's the matter Andrew? Are you not feeling well?" she asked the boy while carefully studying his face. She couldn't quite read his expression, but there was something unsettling about it. "Is it the flu?" she continued, thinking it the most reasonable explanation. Now Iris would never wish illness on anyone, but if Andrew was sick, she would be the first by his side, microwaving chicken soup and singing to him. And she wouldn't mind it one bit.

"In the most..." He stopped as Iris entered the tent like a little tornado, and watched her with a little bit of bemusement in his expression. Was there no escape from the Pratt family? "Hello, Miss Pratt." He told her, shaking her hand gently. "Everything's alright." He said, looking at Andrew with a speculative cock of his head. He didn't seem to be surprised by her being here... Maybe he'd invited her? "I was thinking that we'd teach these guys a little lesson about pulling pranks on people by pulling a prank on them. If you're up for it. After that, well, I thought I'd offer you a few lessons on how to take care of yourself against guys who think they can push you around because they're bigger than you. If you'd like."

Rebecca furrowed her brow. Had she asked Makepeace for his help? She didn't recall that. Looking to Andrew, she shrugged as if to say 'What could it hurt?' It was only a harmless prank, or so she hoped. While she was all for people getting their due, she tended to leave that up to karma, rather than exact revenge herself. Like most other members of her legacy (except for Levi, it seemed), she leaned toward pacifism. Surely, Makepeace's plan did not involve violence.

When Iris practically floated over to them on what appeared to be a puppy love high, Rebecca smirked. Being his sister, she knew Andrew well. Probably better than he realized. If her suspicions were correct, Little Miss Princess Pratt was barking up the wrong tree. She shook the little girl's hand. "He might have the Drew flu," she commented, then clarified. "Feeling a little sick because he's in close proximity to me."

Andrew was relieved when Iris joined them, glad to feel like he had an ally. "Hi Iris," he said and flashed her a relieved smile, hoping to reassure her that everything was fine. "I like your costume, it turned out good," he said then listened to Makepeace, taking a moment to decide how to answer. He glanced over to Rebecca who shrugged. It wasn't completely encouraging but at least she wasn't immediately vetoing the entire idea as not worth their time.

Of course, that little bit of reinforcement on Rebecca's part was quickly soured when she brought attention to the fact that they weren't usually friendly. Andrew pursed his lips in annoyance, both at being called "Drew" (which he hated) and because it always embarrassed him how poorly he and his sister got on. It was probably obvious, but he had only mentioned it to Iris a few times and more in passing.

"Well, okay then," he said to Makepeace, still wary but also wanting to keep Allen and Colin off his case. He glanced over to Iris. Though she had undoubtedly witnessed a few of the comments, they were in different classes and the bullies usually struck when he was alone. It was easier to let nasty remarks role off his back when he was with friends so he hadn't let on how much it bothered him. He wondered if she would see him differently now it was being made clear he had bullies and that he needed his sister to save him.

Iris was relieved to see the mood of the group lighten up and blushed at Andrew's compliment. He looked genuinly happy tp have her there. "Thank you! I like yours too." she replied to her shoes. Not that it was a surprise. Of course Andrew would do a good job. They were both making the costumes for the play and Iris herself had felt she needed to step it up a notch this year. You know, to keep her reputation. So why wouldn't Andrew have?

As she listened to the older kids, her worried look came back. Even though Andrew clearly wasn't sick, something didn't seem right. "Are people pushing you around?" she demanded of her date. She had heard some older students make remarks, but since Andrew had never looked bothered, she had shook it off without giving it a second thought. But now she did. Andrew was her friend. And friends stood up for each other. If they were here right now she would give them a piece of her mind. And fists. And feet. And maybe even teeth... She shook her head. She shouldn't be angry. This was her first date and she wanted it to be a joyful occasion. One that she would remember. Happily. Besides, the boy clearly already had a plan.

Iris took a deep breath to calm down and met Andrew's eyes with a light smile. Very carefully she stroked her hand against his (feeling to shy to actually hold it in front of his sister) in a way that was supposed to mean 'It's ok. See, we're all here for you and those boys are going to pay.' And also, she just really wanted to touch him.

Makepeace moved further into the tent and pulled down a cord, which lifted up a large flap that concealed the true extent of the tent's interior, which was about the size of a studio apartment. The interior had been lavishly decorated with tapestries depicting occult symbols painted onto crushed velvet, and a table with a crystal ball on top. Behind it sat a pretty redheaded woman in a sumptuous and low-cut corseted red dress, revealing quite a bit of lightly-freckled cleavage. "This is Sasha. Sasha is a Muggle, but she's in-the-know. She also has a problem. A problem that would take tens of thousands of dollars worth of surgery to fix, or just a few waves of a wand from someone who knew what they were doing. Unfortunately, it's illegal for anyone in the States to help her because of secrecy statutes. But, in exchange for helping us, I've found a witch in Thailand who will agree to help her with her problem, because secrecy enforcement is a little more lax there."

"Meanwhile, the guys who were playing pranks on you overheard a rumor about a psychic who offers "special" services to customers who ask her for a "special" psychic reading." He continued, wearing an evil little smirk.

Rebecca stared at the woman. Or was she a woman at all? Based on her boyfriend's explanation, it sounded to her like 'Sasha's' problem might be below the waist. Not that Becca was bothered. Maybe she just needed a kidney transplant or had been paralyzed in a terrible accident. Rebecca didn't really care what the problem was. It wasn't any of her business. That didn't stop her from being curious. It merely kept her from prying.

When Makepeace revealed the rumor passed along to those boys, Rebecca laughed. That would be amusing, especially if she was a he, and no one would be hurt. Hell, maybe the boys would stop being hateful little homophobes. Probably not, but a girl could dream.
