You probably feel you don't have anything to write, and so you decide not to. Why bother? Indeed. Yet writing is something anyone can do, any time, and strangely enough, there will always be someone who will want to read it. Why would anybody want to read something that has no content? A fair question, and one I have no answer to. But given that the world of humans contains so little content, anyway, what difference would it make whether there was some, or not? And who are you, anyway, to decide what and what doesn't constitute content? You are nothing. Neither am I. Neither are they. So. I got an email, last night, from someone I used to exchange many emails with, some years back, but finally lost track of. "What birds are these?" he asked, referring to an attached image, containing many microscopic bird-like things, flying around far off in the twilight. "Who the fuck cares," I muttered, trying to magnify the image. Not crows. Not starlings. Not ostriches... "Why doesn't he say something to justify his email, rather than indicate it's about this image?" But then I wondered if, in fact, it really was about this image, and that maybe he really did seriously want to know. So I did my Google-thing and tried to match up the few details I could make out, against the possible likely candidates. "Looks like either Brewers Blackbirds, or maybe Cowbirds," I emailed him back. Happy I could help, and all that, if in fact it was of any help. So why am I writing about this, anyway? No reason. I am writing, period. And that's how easy it is to write, even when you really don't have much to say. Like most things a human might do, or want to do, or feel he should be doing: You just start. This is true. Sometimes a few words make all the difference. Although usually I'm pretty laid back with this and can speak my mind freely, at other times I am so off-track, hypersensitive and prone to the negative, so I refrain from speaking to avoid poisoning anyone else's day. Being unmotivated is probably the bigger issue. |
