I see in the natural scheme of things, that is, where I choose to be in life, communication is a necessary. So how to communicate? It's not to make people understand that's the end all but, in my scheme of things, as a problem solving opportunity, I feel communication is a skill that can be learned. Like riding a bike, a tool to aid in navigating/experiencing reality. How do I communicate with a Muslim? How do I communicate with anybody? I ask to gain perspective on people's experience with similar communications or communication in general. Wisdom through experience. Should one pursue to understand the language through which they communicate, so the ideas can be conveyed with greater resonance? To pierce the programming. Are there certain laws of communication that should be obeyed to move with reality instead of against it? Is silence the key? |

Rule 1: Almost nobody will understand you, therefore communication happens largely by accident. Rule 2: Thinking that others could understand you, makes the problem even greater. Rule 3: Taking rules 1 and 2 into account, never attempt to explain anything you've said. Rule 4: Taking rules 1, 2, and 3 into account, if understanding is possible, it will be immediately apparent. Rule 5: Understanding yourself, first, is what it's about. As you can see, there is great value in silence, but being silent is exceptionally difficult for most. You're basically on your own, since communication rarely happens. Better to train yourself to cope with this fact, that try to change anybody elses' comprehension faculties. Good post. An ever-present problem, for anybody who is aware that it is a problem. Like all roads lead to Rome: All problems lead back to yourself. Edited by crow, Nov 7 2015, 08:10 PM.
