Bad stuff. Natural, but requiring responsible handling. The root of all ailments, spiritual and physical. Want, need, wish, get, own, steal... Desire supplies a quick jolt, like cocaine, and leaves a raging thirst for more. If you're lucky. Often it provides nothing beyond regret. Highly addictive, and best managed diligently. Nobody is immune to it, until enlightenment dawns. Even then, the choice remains like a carrot before a donkey. It's what made Eve suggest the apple. It's what made Adam succumb. |

Desire leads man to desire an understanding of God, but God is Mystery, and Mystery, by its nature, defies understanding. The intellectual will never discover God, because he has placed his intellect above what he desires to understand. If God does not 'make-sense' to him, he decrees that God must not exist. From where he stands, this seems reasonable. God has nothing in common with human 'reason'. |
