This is a reply to a message I received, and decided it might be worth sharing. Everybody seems to think pot is perfectly harmless... Apart from the serious destruction to your lungs, which you'll pay for, years down the road, it quickly becomes a habit, along with its demotivating effect and increased propensity to initiate paranoia and neuroses. That's just for starters. There's much, much more. If you can do a little, occasionally, the downsides might be acceptable. But nearly anyone that uses it, ends up using it heavily. I sometimes drink a little as tea, which along with its apparent property of opening up the airways, gives a subtle stone, too, without the make-you-cough crap. Harmless, not. Beware. |

Vehemently agree with this. Someone on the metal hall forum (Either Brett Stevens or Conservationist) said something along the lines of: "Drugs are like a warm bath, and the longer you stay in the harder it is to get out". Chronic pot use breeds neuroses and ablates growth. >>Feel bad because drug habit is negatively affecting ones life -->smoke more drugs to feel better. Rinse and repeat. Pot becomes a coping mechanism that has one sleepwalking through the vagaries of life rather than facing adversity and learning from experience. Simple things like being able to deal with ones emotions or keeping the house clean can fall by the wayside. Failings of that nature are symptomatic of a deeper issue, the kind of thing which can keep a person in a shitty income bracket, living in a bad area, not improving themselves. It's a creeping abasement, like if you saw a I.V. drug user scabrous in a gutter, it's quite obvious that heroin should be avoided. But pot sits in this kind of gray area, it appears harmless, moreso to a younger person who, being a adolescent, cannot envision the negatives of a protracted adolescence.
