I've always been nonplussed by those political types who shout ever more loudly for "change". But now I realize, that such people are so lacking in understanding, or insight, that what they are referring to is change for more of the same. The same old stuff that has never worked, but more of it, so it will work. And more, and more. And more. Yet another example of the way words are being assigned to things that have nothing to do with their original meanings. And this, of course, doesn't just end at words; concepts, themselves, are being lost, at an ever accelerating pace, by people with no remaining ability to recognize the existence of Reality. Atheism does far more damage to the individuals who embrace it, than any of them have any notion of. But it is the damage it is doing to civilization-at-large that is the really shocking thing. Yes, in terms of politics it seems like the roles have been reversed. Hillary is in essence a neo-"conservative" and reinforces the status quo, whereas our man Trump has become an agent of *real change* (theoretically). I'm not 100% certain of how the battle lines are drawn in the UK, but it seems like Brexit showed that the left, likewise, wanted to conserve the status quo whereas elements of the right won on change. The irony seems to be that conservatives/rightists essentially need to become agents of change in order re-assert an order prior to constant demands for change. In a more general philosophical sense, it has always struck me as ridiculous to *demand* change. Hey buddy, don't worry, change is coming whether you like it or not! There is nothing more abundant than change. To make that the cornerstone of one's philosophy seems redundant and superfluous. It is much more impressive to seek out that-which-does-not-change. It's much more subtle. It is essentially the very principle according to which change, itself, operates and manifests itself. |
