What great efforts go on here to describe that which cannot be described! To hope someone can read what is written, then discard it and remember the essence of all things.

It's not much effort to describe the indescribable. The difficulty lies in doing so in such a way that the description carries the import of the thing described, to the reader. Some things, though, really are indescribable, and for that, there is metaphor. But mostly, descriptions fail, no matter how expertly they are rendered. |
