People like things to 'make sense'. They like it even more when things 'make sense' to them. In fact, most people will not accept anything unless it 'makes sense'. Which is unfortunate, because almost everything about life exceeds peoples' ability to 'make sense' of it. People assume, for reasons unknown, that everything, everywhere, all the time, should 'make sense' to them. Which, when you consider it, is crazy. Things can only 'make sense' when the one demanding that things 'make sense' knows enough to cover all the possibilities, and people are not known for knowing everything about everything. No. Nothing needs to 'make sense'. Things are what they are. They don't 'make sense'. The only thing that needs to 'make sense' is the one setting himself up as a judge of what 'makes sense' and what does not. The human needs to 'make sense', before deciding whether or not anything else does. And do humans 'make sense'? Not very often! Edited by crow, Aug 29 2016, 01:08 PM.

There's nothing wrong with preferring things to 'make sense', as long as the one preferring this is aware that he prefers it to 'make sense' to him. It is a serious mental error to demand things 'make sense', then when whatever it is doesn't appear to do so, to then judge whatever it is to be 'crap'. Does this thing 'make sense'? (Does it need to? Who am I to judge, anyway?) Does this thing 'make sense' to me? (Whether or not it does, or doesn't, in no way changes, or affects the thing itself.) You'll see, upon investigation, that ego is at the root of practically every illusion, delusion, judgment, and error. There's a lot of it about |
