Punctuation Primer.

Nobody uses semicolons any more; I still find semicolons useful.
Of even more use is the colon: they are an arrow pointing towards the eagerly-anticipated meat and potatoes.
But, naturally, any discussion of punctuation would be incomplete, pointless even, without the humble comma.
That said - if it can even be said to have been said - the underused ellipsis makes a bold statement of the understatement.

Paragraph breaks are virtually disappearing, of late. Replaced by a solid block of text that only the anally-retentive, terminally-bored reader would bother with.

"Well said" said I, to myself. "Few could have better said it."
Even had they used more words.

"Squawk!" said the crow, and then made space.
