Pure spirituality is both the simplest of states, and the most difficult one to achieve. By 'pure' I refer to a state that involves no mental processing, but rather one centered around intuition. This is an important distinction, because mind - by its nature - precludes spirituality. One may be intelligent, and to some degree 'intellectual', but this must be subordinated to intuition, as an adjunct, rather than the engine that runs the whole show. This is the fatal flaw of anything to do with what is generally referred-to as 'new-age'. 'New-age' has one reaching for spirituality as a means of enhancing oneself socially - from ego - to attain usable leverage, rather than to enable placing oneself ideally in relation to Reality. Thus it could be accurately said that 'new-age' is actually the exact opposite of pure spirituality. Spirituality moves towards humility, while 'new-age' stacks yet more ego upon ego, while acting-out something it can never know. A fine distinction, and practically impossible to convey, to anyone who knows only mind, and the processing of life via the mind. Thus, to become more spiritual, one probably needs - as a prerequisite - an inherent spirituality to begin with. An ability to explore avenues of possibility that there exists no 'proof' for, or that appear - to the mind - to make no sense. There is no other avenue to transform oneself from a thinking creature, into a transcendent Soul. Which makes yet another mockery of the very human concept of 'equality'. There is danger implicit in the pursuit of 'new-age'. Even when one does not actively - or knowingly - pursue it. Much has been written, over many years, of 'demonic possession', and this is why. Exactly what 'demonic possession' is, remains anybody's guess, but one may safely assume, it is not remotely good. This is one reason I come down hard on anyone who exhibits 'new-age' tendencies on this site. What such people have to say may bear similarities to things a spiritual adept might speak of, but always there is a hint of something darker to be recognized, along with - and as a result of - the sugary, feel-good words, repeated by legions, that carry no truth. 'Demonic Possession' awaits the unwary, the shallow, the insincere, and the marginally insane. It has nothing to do with pure spirituality, and it becomes a worthwhile skill to be able to recognize it, in all its guises. Edited by crow, Sep 11 2016, 12:16 PM.
