Family Man
Well, the washing-machines are rolling, and I still have a handful of minutes (10 - maybe even 15) before my girlfriend and son are back from the ear-doctor.

It's a brief space of time, where there's nothing to do - so why not make the most of it?

Something I'm currently working on.

Before I became a family-man, my life was to a large extent a vast sea of time to be filled with whatever I wanted to fill it with. Often I would do nothing for entire days... Nothing except being alive, and being content with that: Meditating, reading, taking long walks, looking out the window...

Now, my day is packed to the brim with pre-defined activities, from I rise in the morning, till I collapse at night. It's rare to get a moment to spare.

It's something else entirely... a new life.

But still, I feel that much of my experience with doing nothing for pro-longed periods of time is now starting to benefit me like never before.

I still feel a great need to be alone, and be silent. But there simply isn't the sort of time for it that used to be.

Luckily I've done it so much in the past, that now, I can get an entire days worth of doing nothing done in 15 minutes!

And maybe even write a short message on the Secrets of Life as well?

Well - they're not home yet. I did it! :)

Time for a cup of tea!

Good to see you back Soren. At least you are driving the 24hrs as opposed to being driven by the 24hrs. I have been on both ends of the speed of life spectrum and both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Time to commune with nature is essential in my book.

Shock and humility! 600 posts here. I have 2 books I started 10 years ago and hardly an additional word written in either. I get a report from grammarly and I write about 3000 words a week, if I put my brain into gear I could write both books in about 10 months but it would take 2 years to sort out the grammar.

Still, where's the fun in that?

Books are strange things. Many people say they are writing books. Maybe they are. They hardly ever seem to get finished, though, let alone published. And what happens next, when a book is finished? The whole other problem of getting anyone to read it :)

Considering what you just said, if I added up all my words, here and there, all over the place, I probably have the equivalent of twenty books. Yet not a single actual book.

I've never had much faith in the usefulness of books. To wit: The Bible...

Heresy! My world has been defined and circumscribed by books, I would not be the erudite bore I am today without them.

Just read Mysteries by Knut Hamsung and the world of great writings doors creak open....
