Every time you almost die, you gain an opportunity to almost live.

To what degree do you live? How much life is involved with being not-yet-dead?
It is a fact that when death comes calling, if it can be eluded, life becomes far more precious.
This lasts for a while, and then slowly returns to normal.
Most living humans never give a thought to living. To many it is no more than an endurance event.

Very few really live.

I sometimes view my present life as 'injury time', like that extra time allotted in sporting competitions: every second the game was stopped, due to injury, is added to the length of the game. A chance to come out on top, and one you didn't expect to have. Another chance to score!

Every time you go to sleep, there goes another eight hours of game time. Many people die in their sleep. You didn't. Lucky you!
Now use that extra time.
Go out and score!

"Squawk!" said the crow, and then made space.

I'm deep into injury-time now. But for all I know, while I was playing, the rules were changed, so now nobody has any idea of when that final whistle is gonna blow.
