"But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also." Nobody knows what this means. The possibilities are endless. What was Jesus saying? Well, first you must remember that Jesus was an enlightened being. One who had already died, that he might reach enlightenment. Enlightenment is, in a way, death without the corpse. You get to come back and be not-dead. This being so, Jesus had transcended fear. Nothing scared him. Knowing this, he counseled people to not fear evil, pain, threat, or even death. If somebody wants to do you harm, care not that they may, or what they may do. Care not about the possible result. The worst that can happen is death, and as Jesus knew: death is no big deal. It is, in fact, a shortcut to reunification, via Soul, with God. Not an entirely bad result. It is fear that stops humans in their tracks. Over and over. Almost everything a human does, or will ever do, has its roots in fear. Hurt me if you must. I don't care. I'd rather you didn't, and I'll stop you if I can, but I don't care what you do. What I care about is what I do, and I will not do fear. |
