Being as how so many modern Westerners are chronically dehydrated, I have embarked upon a regime of rehydration. This involves, of course, drinking considerably more water. But what many people don't know is that water, alone, does not hydrate. It passes right through, quickly, and does little good. It is only with the addition of salt that absorption occurs, and for a dehydrated body, it can take up to three months for balance to be restored. I'm sufficiently sensitive, though, that even after a week I am noticing changes. I'm putting on weight. This is a very good thing, so far, in all kinds of ways. I float higher, in the bath So remember: to regain a hydrated body, which functions as designed, right across the board, a little salt, now and then, is essential. I've cut way down on coffee, itself a factor in dehydration, but when I do have a cup, I add a pinch of salt to it. This removes bitterness and increases fullness of taste.
