A Stance is the position one adopts, in relation to something one faces. It may be a physical stance, an emotional stance, an intellectual, or mental stance. But for our purposes, here, it is a spiritual stance... Your spiritual stance determines how spiritual you are, or will become, towards that about which you would prefer to know more. Where do you position yourself in relation to the focus of your spirituality? This seems like it might not be very important, because a human is, above all, an ego. Obviously, the ego thinks, it, itself, is the focus, and all else is viewed in relation to itself. And if this is your stance, you'll go no further. To transcend one's own ego, one must reorient oneself towards what one is interested in. Down, boy! Lower thyself! From this position of humility, the view is entirely different from any other view. Position yourself low enough, and the view becomes not a view at all, but a slotting-into that which was viewed. Lower still, and one may merge into one's focus, losing focus, widening what was viewed, and becoming the formerly viewed thing. Meditation, of course, is the route to this state. The absence of doing. The state in which It absorbs 'you', and 'you' moves out and into It. Nothing is about you. Nothing. And this is the stance. What has more stature? The puny ego, or the universe, itself? Disappear from your own view, seek not to understand. Leave everything alone, retire from intervention. And little by little, until with a cosmic rush, you are what you had merely surveyed. |

In this way, the one who once wrote plenty, comes to write less and less. |
