Mechanically, a well oiled joint slides through it's range of motion without resistance or noise.
It's a sign that something is amiss if it starts squeaking and catching.

The magnitude of the ego at a given time is proportional to how difficult it is to "do" something.
With ego lessened or out of the way, tasks can be not-done, at which point they seem to be accomplished all by themselves.
