I find it amazing that people these days admire people who are modest and humble (to an extent). The issue with this is that it doesn't relate to them, they love modest people because they feel superior to them. The modest person will let them talk and listen to them closely but the reverse does not happen.

This results in their being very few modest and humble people in the Western world.

They probably think that modesty/humility means a quality that makes people subordinate to them or to other people.

People misinterpret many things. They will read things into you.

I was called grumpy the other day. I'm far from it. Quietly fierce, maybe, but mostly very optimistic and stable. I didn't bother to try and correct her.
