You can't grab your own hands; you can't (directly) see your own eyes; you can't bite your own teeth. But you know you have hands, eyes, teeth.

So we can't know ourselves, the way we know other things. You are part of reality, and reality knows itself, so you can know reality. To know yourself, you have to know yourself the way reality knows itself. Which means knowing that you are reality.

Descartes just barely missed this one. Just barely. Poor fellow.
