A light haired young man made his way through the busy, light blue and white hallways to his gray locker. He was dressed in an unzipped black leather jacket and had a blue T-shirt under it, his black backpack slung haphazardly across his back. Black earbuds were in his ears, blaring away "Ain't No Rest For the Wicked" as he walked unnoticed in the crowd of highschoolers. As he walked past a window, the beams of sunlight glinted off his glasses as he grinned. He had an odd feeling about today... It was going to be interesting at least.
He walked up to his locker only to find a tall, lanky ginger haired young man grinning and leaning up against it. "Sup." He asked, smirking.
The blond nodded, grinning slightly as well. "Well, not much mi amigo, just trying to get to my locker... you know, the one you're preventing me from getting to." He said, flicking his sandy hair out of his eyes.
"Bah, but thats the fun part of the morning!" His ginger friend protested cheekily before standing up and letting him get to his locker.
"I know, I know, you don't always get to make me jump for things but I'll make it up to you later. Maybe you can spar with me and we can pretend you aren't going to immediately kick my ass." His friend chuckled.
"Off to history then?" he asked as his friend began to stuff his belongings unceremoniously into his backpack.
"Yep, best way to start the day." The blond said as he slammed his locker shut and zipped up his backpack, glancing up at his friend but seeing a small, dark haired figure approach in a psuedo stealthy manner.
"Gotcha!" The figure cried as she glomped the ginger from behind.
"No you didn't!" The ginger protested as he turned around and hugged the girl. "IIIII got you!"
Blondie shook his head and smirked to himself before turning towards class and leaving his best friend and his girlfriend far behind him. Another moment of that and he might've been sick to his stomach.

He entered class five minutes till the bell was scheduled to ring and sat down in his usual place, right in the center front. He looked around the room and saw the usual crowd, a freshman or two, some sophmores and the rest were, like him, juniors.

Zak grinned and listened to his music as he waited for the class to start.
Something about today... was gonna be special. He knew it.

Zak snorted. "Everyone was racist back then."

Mr. Shaw sighed. "Yes, there were racists in the South but as Mr. Kelvin pointed out - without raising his hand nonetheless - everyone was racist. In fact, Abraham Lincoln, the president often known as the great emancipator only wished to halt the spread of slavery, not free all slaves as he ended up doing. Now," he said, finally managing to sync the projector and the computer up. "I need you all to-"
What he needed them to do was cut short by the blaring, shrieking sound of the fire alarms going off.
Mr. Shaw visually sighed and stood up as most of the students went flying for the door and fled towards the hallways filled with students and staff members attempting to keep some semblence of control over their charges.
Zak got up, slung his backpack over his should nonchalantly and walked casually out.

Hector got up disgruntled, gathering his things. He hated fire drills! Interrupting his train of thought, interfering with lessons. It screwed with his head. Nonetheless, he swiftly got his things together, putting them in his cheap, worn out camouflage backpack and lining up with the other. He kept his eyes straight forward, avoiding contact with the others.

Cam was so relieved. As all the attention was pulled away from her and people started to file out of the room, Cam whispered to Jessie, "When we go back inside, please go to you're real first period class."

Jessie looked back at her in surprise, and said, "What? Why? Don't you want to hang out?"

"We're not going to be able to hang out this class," She responded. "Mr Shaw's going to lecture the whole class, and you're embarrassing me!"

Jessie started to respond, but instead closed his mouth and relaxed. "Alright," he said, a hint of anger in his voice. "Your highness."

Zak followed the crowds of people pushing each other out of the way to be first out of the door. He felt his heart start to race. There were too many people in too small a space. God, I hate crowds... He thought to himself as he was pushed aside by some rather loud and obnoxious jocks. He stumbled backwards and right in front of Hector.
"Sorry." He muttered, glancing back at the other student. "Jocks, you know." He said as if that explained everything before falling into step with him.

"Alright everybody, calm down and get into a line!" Mr. Shaw shouted from outside the building, leading, along with the other teachers, the students away from the building.

As Jessie walked off into the crowd, Cam's many girlfriends scooted toward her with their best, "So what happened?" expressions.

"You think it's a real fire this time?" Cam said diverting from the subject.

"Its never a real fire, duh." Said one of her snooty companions. "But quit changing the subject. Spill it." She said, looking slightly haughty at her friend's reluctance.

"Yeah, right." The girl said, rolling her eyes in an overly dramatic fashion. "You two totally weren't fighting at aaaall." She popped her gum as she fell into line.

"Trust me Kat, you already saw it all in class," Cam replied with a somewhat giggly face.

"Uhuh." She said, not totally convinced but she decided to remain silent.

The safety bell began to ring after a moment of silence and the students were filed hurriedly back into the school to continue studies.

Zak rolled his eyes as he promptly turned back around, having just gotten out the door, and headed back to the classroom. "I tell you, this school." He said to Hector, shaking his head. "Full of nutjobs."
