Hogwart's Grounds

Regular Forum (No New Posts) Forbidden Forest
East of Hogwarts castle lies a forest, but not just any old forest. It is made in an announcement at the beginning of each year that the forest is forbidden therefore it is referred to as the Forbidden Forest. Inside the Forest is magical and highly dangerous creatures that will rip you alive before you can even gulp at the mere sight of them. It is known in the past for students to accompany the Groundskeeper in the Forest on one of the odd trips, but the Headmaster has restricted even that. All of the staff at Hogwarts urges you to steer clear from the Forest and if you're caught near or inside, the punishment is severe.

Regular Forum (No New Posts) Hogwarts Lake
One of the most scenic places at Hogwarts is the Lake. The Lake, which is towards the south of Hogwarts, is below the cliff on which the castle stands. The Lake is almost half a mile in diameter and is home to the ever so notorious Giant Squid. It was discovered that Merpeople as well as Grindylow occupy the lake as well. Although it isn't recommended, the students of Hogwarts may dip their feet in the Lake - but at their own risk.

Regular Forum (No New Posts) Hagrid's Hut
No, to answer your question the said 'eyesore' leading into the Forbidden Forest is not an aged Quidditch equipment shack. That 'eyesore' is home to the Groundskeeper. The Hut is made of wood although you'd never know with the amount of bushes and other growth that cover it. Behind the hut is a pumpkin patch surrounded by a wooden fence. It is with high regards for your safety that the administration of Hogwarts asks you kindly to please not bother the large pumpkin patch.

Regular Forum (No New Posts) Greenhouses
Somewhere within fifty feet of the castle lie the Greenhouses that are used for Herbology. Inside these greenhouses are plants that Muggles and wizards themselves only dare to dream of. Some are highly dangerous, and some are just plain annoying but they all serve a purpose. If there is to ever be an incident in which the Greenhouses are damaged in any way all students are to stay as far away from them as possible so no injuries occur. The Herbology Professor asks that you please keep out of them unless you are in class.

Regular Forum (No New Posts) Quidditch Pitch
To the west of the castle you will see the Quidditch Pitch which contains the Quidditch Field. The round pitch is separated into five sections. Each house has their own seating area and there is one last section that contains the seating area for the Hogwarts Staff and the Announcer(s). The seating areas for the houses are decorated according to the colors of the house itself. Each house holds try-outs to be on their house's Quidditch team and shortly after they start to hold weekly practices. Please see your Head of House or Team Captain to see when your next practice is.

Regular Forum (No New Posts) Whomping Willow
The Whomping Willow may be one of the most hideous trees you have ever laid eyes upon but try as hard as you must to not prod it with a stick. It does exactly what its name implies, if the Whomping Willow is agitated it will whack you on the head with one of its branches and it might just tear you to pieces. As legend and a few events at Hogwarts tells it the Willow is a passageway from the Hogwarts Grounds to the Shrieking Shack. According to that legend there is a special way to petrify the Willow but if you attempt to throw a hex or spell at it the Willow will have your wand before you even think to scurry away.

Regular Forum Courtyard
The Courtyard of Hogwarts where there's always a bustle of activity even when the weather is bad. During good weather students sit out here to do their homework or even just hang out and talk with their friends. Occasionally a class has been held outside if it is appropriate for the topic. This is the center of the school.
