A light breeze on a sunny day, a breeze which slowly swept across the grassy fields alongside a dirt road which led from the nearby town of Inori to the greater unknown of the Ovashi Plains. It was quite a beautiful day on this faithful days, birds heard chirping along with the light howl of the wind. It being a direct contract to something which lies on the side of the road just a short few miles out of town. A body, face down in the grass, blood polling, staining the beautiful grass a dark shade of crimson. The body belonged to a young woman by the name of Rin belonging to the family Ishida. A young woman who had been on a personal quest in the name of her Father, a young woman who would fail in this quest as she continued to lie there, eyes closed, her hands each grasping a large clump of grass them them, her sword at her side. She only sixteen years of age and on the verge of death as she continues to bleed out, she just barely remaining conscious, another with every moment that her blood continued to spill, she could feel thats slipping away. Her mind beginning to play back to the occurrence of just ten minutes ago. The duel she had entered with him, the Blonde Haired swordsmen. It having started just like any other duel except he had challenged her, seemingly to know of her or the stories in the least. Of course Rin wouldn't back down and welcomes the fight. Something which quickly escalated into more than just a friendly duel in a hurry. As she was quick to go on the offense, swinging her Katana with precision, aimed for the man, she was stunned when he just simply sidestepped her swipe with nothing more than a light chuckle escaping his lips. "Too slow..." He mocked which only irked the young Rin. The fight had proceeded in much of the same fashion, he dodging or reflecting much of Rin's attacks and quickly setting her back on the defense for the first time in her life since training with her Father. This only fueling the fire in her temper as she slowly began to lose technique and skill in her strikes and slowly began to use just brute force which only earned her a quick kick to the ribs, sending her to the ground, coughing as she desperately wanted the air back which had been driven from her lungs. Something which only got an annoyed sigh from him in response. "Your regressing, certainly you were taught better, or perhaps your mentor is just as big a failure as yourself, only a fool would think you were anything special to begin with." The main said and almost immediately a fire underneath Rin had been lit. Immediately she had forgotten all about the breath she needed, the duel itself, she just wanted to draw blood from this man who dare insult her Father so carelessly. So be it if he wanted to insult her, but he would NEVER get away with such things if she could have any sort of say in matter. Jumping back to her feet with a new breath, she immediately rushed this man and began to attack once more. The only problem with her assault while it seemed he was struggling a tad more with her now was that she was still just swinging wildly at the air, no technique or skill. Even more so now as she seemed to be blinded by pure rage at this point as she still couldn't land a hit on him. He still seemingly toying with her until finally he had enough of it and simply....disappeared? Almost immediately Rin began to look to her left and right, gritting her teeth as she let out a small growl in frustration to losing him. "Tsk tsk, such an angry one." His words rang out almost in a sing song fashion as she felt the cold steel of his blade likely tapping her on the shoulder. Without even thinking about it, she turned around only to immediately have said steel rammed through her body, the sword pushed through clean to the other side of her body through her gut. Immediately Rin had dropped her sword as blood began to seep through her lips at an alarming rate. As the sword was pulled free, she had quickly dropped to her knees before falling straight to her face as the man simply muttered "Pathetic" before walking away, leaving her to die. These memories recent in her mind began to haunt young Rin whole couldn't help but think to her Father and the failure, the dishonor she had brought his name by losing. Not being able to do anything to punish that man for the words he had chosen when addressing him. Here she was now, defenseless, dying, her heart practically tearing her apart. She would remain conscious long enough to see the first set of beings to find her fallen body, immediately displeased even from her current position of her face in the ground to see the unsavory characters of bandits which looked on with glee toward her fallen body. Immediately a feeling of dread overtook her weakening body as she watched them approach her, cackling as they looked her over. One eventually going to her right side and reaching to retrieve her sword. Something she would greet by allowing her grip on the grass to relinquish and grab hold of the hilt of her blade. Earning a hideous laugh from this group of five men. "Little bitch is still alive huh?" The one grabbing for her sword said with a sickening chuckle before immediately kicking her body in the ribs as punishment for her actions. Whilst she let out but a weak cry she wouldn't allow herself to let go. This only annoyed the man further and further as he continued to kick her over and over again, Each time her cries of pain getting weaker and weaker before finally someone stepped in. "Hey, hey take it easy, afterall, she's still alive right? Why not have a bit of "fun" while she's still breathing eh?" The ever proud Rin would not allow herself to cry, even as she heard these chilling words upon what they would consider fun on her body. Her hand never left her sword as these men all seemed to come to agree in what was suggested as to the fate of Rin. Edited by Shimura, Apr 16 2012, 05:46 PM.

Lobo wasn't honestly aware of anything else as he leapt through the forest, on all fours he dashed left and right, leaping over one tree branch and landing with a thump as he stopped sniffing at the air, his ears twitched slightly and he blinked glancing around before dashing off tail flicking behind him. He finally sailed through the air and came to a stop beside a waterfall in the tree, he was wary as he knew the dangers of the forest at night, and slowly crept along the branch, sniffing the air and examining the entire area carefully before finally he seemed satisfied and he leapt down with a thump, padding his way over toward the plants he reached down and tugged up some of the vegetables carefully, the odd carrot and root looking plants soon tucked into the bag on his belt. He then leapt to the water’s edge, rapidly scaling the waterfall his nails digging into the stone as he made his way up, until he landed lightly by its top … slowly he pawed at the water, and blinked as he stopped himself. “What am I a cub …?” He asked himself with a chuckle as he headed toward the bush beside the water’s edge, gathering the berries there rapidly before he tucked them away as well. He then did the final touch by leaping up one of the nearby tree’s, tugging down multiple apples, his personal favorite, and tucking them as well before gathering some mint and basil nearby. He then gathered several planks of wood, singing to the dying wood lovingly, as green energy flooded through them, before slowly the wood molded into a large bucket and a few cups, he knew humans liked their utensils. He himself just stuck his head into the water, and drank happily; tail wagging as he realized how thirsty he really was. Once all of the water was down and he was content, he filled the bucket, they would need to boil it for the humans weaker stomachs, he then dashed up a tree clamping the wooden lid over it, before shooting off with the buckets handle between his fangs. As he made his way back he heard a stomach turning sound, the growl of a beast native to this forest known as a Grimalkin, his eyes widened as he spun and his eyes found the beast. To put it plainly, a Grimalkin was THE big cat, more or less as big as felines get, growing up to three meters in length and standing as tall as the average person. They are built broad and bulky, packed with muscles, but speedy and agile nonetheless. They come in a simply array of colors, with no patterns on their fur unlike their sister species, generally being a tan color, or white if found in snowy locations. Their tails are short, stubby and nearly nonexistent, while their canine are anywhere from 6-9 inches long, thick and sharp, with a slight curve to it. They tend to be solitary animals, and are thankfully of little intelligence. However, many a master hunter have lost their lives to these powerful beasts … and even Lobo himself had only barely managed to kill one in his entire life, and that was with his pack while he was in his wolf form. He slowly backed up cursing softly under his breath, before he gave a low growl of a wolf, the beast hesitated, but then continued, after all event he strongest of wolves fell before it thus far, why be intimidated by a growl of one. He slowly winced, backing up as it went forward, he knew he couldn’t outrun it, and he also knew they wouldn’t get here in time if he howled; he’d have to stun it, morph, and make a dash for it. So this is what he did, he tugged the beetle out as he as tossed it into the air as he whispered, no matter how strong and fast, all animals feared heat and fire by pure instinct. Suddenly heated gas and flames burst from the rear end of the bettle coating the cats hide in it, doing little real damage but causing it to howl in fear and stumble back, falling from the tree’s limb and diving into the water to remove the smoke and flames, Lobo caught the beetle and suddenly morphed, the massive wolf leaping from the tree’s and making a dash like hell itself was chasing him as he panted for breath, dashing rapidly across the grounds eyes narrowed. God dang it … of all the things to meet out here …! He narrowed his eyes as he rushed through the forest, the clearing coming into view before finally he burst through, panting heavily as the other wolves stiffened seeing him in his wolfen form, he set down the large bucket of water, and proceeded to plot down panting as the slow growl of the beast filled the area, but it didn’t come near, only the sound of a very large and powerful feline roaming at the edge of the flames light. The wolves immediately stood, growling in all directions warningly, slowly the massive brown wolf shrunk down, becoming Lobo once more as he panted softly, eyeing the tree’s and letting out a snarling yowl that match the beasts own, it hesitated, hissing softly … before slowly drifting further away. He narrowed his eyes and sighed, plopping back against the earth as he dropped the cups by the water and a few wolves nuzzled him before plopping down and going back to their play and naps. ”That … wasn’t how I expected that to go …” He muttered softly ears and tail twitching a bit as he slowly rolled over and got back on all fours, placing the water bucket, cups, and veggies/fruits by the flames to roast, taking a bite from the apple and plopping on the ground frowning. He glanced around noticing everyone’s position and reached over, curiously stroking/petting the Taur down her feline-halfs back as he blinked remembering her question he heard before he busted in, “There is a river but with that thing out there I don’t recommend going. We have a place to bath though.” He pointed toward one of the caves, “There’s an underwater pool that drains into a small river in there, just go use that like we do … I think there’s even some left over mint and Helvin (Ingredient in Soup, Kills Bacteria), in there as well.” He smiled a bit weakly … and proceeded to collapse with a grunt, eyeing Ira and arching a brow. “… Glad to see you got comfortable.” He mumbled, gaze slowly traveling to Rin, making sure she was alright … long as she was he would plop back down and toss an apple into her lap, and motion toward the water as it boiled. “Once its done it should be fine for you all to drink …” He mumbled, closing his eyes, obviously exhausted from running for his life. Ira recline a little where she was sitting alongside the fire, leaning slightly on her leather armor for support as a long, quiet sigh left her lungs. The teen rolled her shoulders, reaching one hand up to massage gently at her left shoulder as she flexed it, before doing the same for her right, squeezing and kneading gently into the aching muscles as her eyes slid shut. She rolled both of her shoulder backwards before allowing herself to relax again, enjoying the weight that had been lifted from her body. Her eyes reopened, fixating on the dancing flames for a few long moments, and she began fidgeting where she sat, growing idle, and feeling a tad naked without her armor. Within the elven city, she never took a step out of her room without it, not for any particular reason, she was just very fond of it. It was much lighter, after all, very well made, not like her current set of armor, which at best was ugly and unappealing. The girl sighed a bit to herself as she wondered how much a new set of armor would cost her, or even when she would be able to obtain it. According to Dogboy she was over a hundred miles from her destination. She cringed a little at the thought, slowly dragging her bag closer and pulling out a leather pound. curiously, she poked about the contents, which were coins, the money that she still had left from what Gilder had given her. She counted it quietly, lips moving a little as she poked through the coins, which she eventually deposited into the bag once more. Ira did not know for certain how much armor cost, but she was certain she did not have enough for it. For a moment, she sulked, but she quickly distracted herself with her bag once more, practically diving into it as she started digging around. Among the contents, what had not been lost when evading the vicious little monkeys of death, were the map from earlier, a pocket knife with some elven carvings, a canteen, and other such necessities. There was even a journal and a pen, which she rest her lap, before continuing to dig, clearly looking for something. after a few moments of rustling through the remaining contents, she pulled out a somewhat old looking bracelet, simply, a single band, with a tag attached to it, which was her only means of identifying herself, her only clue as to whom she was and where she was from. As she always did, she studied it for a moment, her thumb running over the letters and symbols, she became distracted for a moment as Dogboy made a somewhat noisy entrance, which triggered a series of growls between the wolves and whatever was out of sight, but the danger eventually passed and she huffed a little, slapping it on her wrist and fastening it securely. There was some talk of bathing, and Ira considered perhaps going for a bath after everyone else had finished, as the idea of bathing with them was not a terribly appealing one, she did have a few scars after all, and some strange markings from the abuse that she had suffered as a street urchin. On the bottom of her left foot there was a brand, to mark amongst those in the dark underbelly of the city, which more or less dictated ownership. If she had gone astray, and someone found her, they would return her to where she belonged. Her foot twitched a little in recognition of the pain of the hot brand on her sensitive feet, and the weeks it took to heal. Naturally, she was made to walk on it in spite of the obvious pain it put her in, and if she whined or complained then she would get punished. The blonde snorted a little in distaste, sadly, this was the first memory that had set in her mind. She remembered nothing of her life before the hostel, but if there was a place to find answers then no doubt that would be the place to start - which was why she was heading for the city. The teen sighed a little to herself, chest heavy with excitement as she wondered what lay ahead, or how far away she might be from finding out the truth of her past, of which she had pondered many different scenarios and picked out those she liked best, almost diluted herself into believing them. Almost. She seemed not to notice much around her as she picked up her journal, crossing her legs under her body and slowly flipping through the pages, carefully scanning through it's contents as she searched for a blank page. When she found one, she paused a moment to recall the date, then hunkered over a little, beginning to write though she did not seem to have much interest in what she was doing. Indeed, keeping a journal was not an idea of her own, but rather something her Lord and Gilder had requested of her. They wanted to know what happened on her journey, they wanted to be able to vividly picture the chain of events that lead her wherever she was going, and they also wanted to know of her adventures, of misadventures, in the broad, open world. As such, she began to write about her day, not the usual, boring things, but of the strange forest, and the equally strange beings and creatures that she had encountered, though she came to realize that all of these faces that she described, were void of names. She had absolutely no idea what to call any of them, and something about calling them 'skinny dwarf,' 'dogboy' and 'cat abomination' on paper just did not seem right to her. "My name is Ira." She suddenly announced, lifting her head and tapping her pen on the journal as she looked about, no doubt expecting them to spit their names back at her, even if it was rather sudden of her. |

She would take note of this supposed cave, or water hole with a stream through it, Lobo having gone, and seemingly returned, she took off towards the where he said this pool of water was at, dragging the skins she had gotten with her. Having to make more then one trip, she paused glancing at Ira as she tilted her head some. Standing still a moment save for using a rear paw to scritch the back of a front paw. She about ran screaming yet again when Lobo came barreling back into the clearing, all the other wolves taking a point to growl at whatever was outside of their little ring of safety. She heard the sound, a large cat like growl she herself had a growl of such, maybe not so much reverb, her fathers was louder and deeper though when he had to use it. Still she looked out, past the light of the encampment listening as the sounds from whatever beasty was out there moving off into the distance and away from them now. Moving again, she headed back and to the hidden pool, still making sure on whether or not she had been followed to the place, not wanting any peeping males after all. Once she found the grotto of sorts she moved to the waters edge, setting down the skins, dipping a paw in the water and almost jumping back screaming, it was cold so very cold... * AHHH…. That’s cold!! I’ll bet that Critter guy is trying to put me on ice.. that’s why he wants me in such cold water…. * glaring back out of the place she paused * or not.. rivers back home are chilly also.. though their not in darker spots like this.. * a heavy sigh leaving her chest, she would start to strip down, wiggling out of the coverings on her rear, she would slip her packs off as well as her Shirt and obviously hand made cloth wrap/bra. Having set them to the side, she would dip another paw into the water, her fur standing on end as she shivered, her flesh getting goose-bumps from the chill that claimed her body. The frigid water soaking through her short but dense fur, she moved deeper into the water, shivering the whole time till she was out to her waist, her entire lower half under the water and soaked through to the flesh. * s..s..s….s.oooo.. c..c..coooll….d.d..d..d. * her teeth chattering lightly as she grinned. Washing up and rinsing the blood from body and fur, the water tainting a pinkish dark color as she did, she would sink down in the water, crawling come up closer to the shore as she was getting used to the chill that was engulfing her. She would open one of her bags that was closer to the water, pulling out some scrubbing elements, backing up into the water again, she would go fully under the water, gasping as she came up for air. She would work in the water, turning and scrubbing the element through her fur, climbing out of the water enough that she could lather it up every last inch of herself, if someone had been watching her they could see how flexible she was when it came to grooming. She’d look like a bluish poof-ball once she got done scrubbing all over, their were streaks of brown and red in with the lather. Padding back into the water after letting the element soak into her fur, she would rinse herself clean, it taking more then a couple of minutes for her to do so. She would soak their in the water, floating on her back a bit, her paws held close to her lower tummy as she did, she relaxed now used to the chill of the water, she had gone numb to it a short while after getting into the water. Rolling over, her four paws paddling along and carrying her back to the edge of the water, she would climb out, sitting down at the edge she pulled some of the flesh soaking it in the water and then scrubbing it some, she cleaned it scraping her blade along it and smoothing it. Separating what little meat and such was left on it, she would set out the pieces once cleaned to dry off before she would worry about tanning the skins to a fine durable leather. |

Disconnection, it wasn't anything new to Rin as she sat there, arms crossed, head slightly lowered and eyes closed. To the naked eye she would appear to be sleeping, and yet, she was watching far more than one would have suspected, even whilst keeping herself away from the group. It was just the way she was, she who didn't like to get involved with other people, the awkwardness she felt, the threat she felt that they posed to her goals. It often left Rin to the sidelines, off in the shadows to separate herself from those threats and the awkwardness she felt. She having only known one person her entire life, well that will set it's toll on someone and how they deal with others. As she sat there in silence, she couldn't help but keep her ears directed toward the fire that everyone was gathering around, she listening for anything potentially useful or even a bit malicious. She would only hear one thing which had interested her and that wouldn't be until Lobo came rushing back into the camp site in his wolf form. Meanwhile others may have jumped in shock or the wolves themselves starting growling, this only got Rin to open her eyes and glare in their direction. Remembering a rule very well about staying ones heart, a rule she had already broken once today as she allowed her emotions to take her over leading to her near demise. Still as she was about to close her eyes once more and return to her thoughts, she couldn't help but hear Lobo mention something of an underground pool. Returning her gaze down to her body, she looked upon her Kimono jacket and the huge hole left from the man's sword, the area coated in dried blood. It didn't take a genius to know that her back would be the same way. She could even now feel the hardening layer of her vitality cracking slightly even from the most subtle of movements from her against her stomach and back. Perhaps it was needed, perhaps she should wash off quickly whilst she had the chance. It didn't take her long to make up her mind before she pushed herself back up to her feet slowly. As she did so she couldn't help but notice that odd creature, the Taur making way for the cave as well. It wasn't a surprise to Rin, after all it was the Taur who had asked about a body of water within the area as to wash off. Even in the darkness, it wasn't difficult for Rin to see why, the Cheetah girl was covered in blood. Still it wasn't something that would deter her from following, after all this Taur seemed like a coward to the smaller woman. Jumpy, easily startled and runs off in the heat of danger as far, at least this was what she had done in the short time Rin had known her. So as best as she could, Rin began to walk and follow far behind the Taur, she having a headstart after all, with a look of pride upon her face. Doing her best to keep her head high and keep that look of strain off her face. To not look like she was at all unsure of her footing or that she could potentially fall on her face at any given moment. As she past by Lobo and Ira, she wouldn't even given them a passing glance, not even a glare their way. Sure this may have appeared rude to either of them but she suspected that Lobo may have understood her actions as she continued to walk on, eventually passing through the mouth of the cave, she could distinctly hear the sounds of a light splashing to which she followed the noise. Hand at the hilt of her sword, call it paranoia, but Rin was one to remain prepared at all times. Still it didn't take her long to come across the Cheetah girl, now out of the water already and working on those hides she had salvaged from the fight earlier. Rin's eyes would remained locked on her, with nothing more than a hardened expression, a serious look upon her face. Her hand idly moved away from her sword as she slowly began to move toward her, eyes remaining locked, not a word escaping her lips. Could she be about to attack the Taur? Why would she have moved her hand from her sword then? Well fortunately, even if the thought had crossed the Cheetah girl's mind, Rin would simply walk past her. Still not saying a word, Rin would slowly strip away her jacket, exposing her upperbody with only but that bandage wrap to keep her chest from being completely naked. Without even skipping a beat, she moved over tot he body of water, near the edge and knelt down very gingerly so as to not risk falling forward suddenly given her current condition. Taking the part of her kimono covered in blood she dipped it underneath the water and with her free hand began to scrub against it, once satisfied she would naturally repeat this with the other side. What Rin either wasn't aware of or simply didn't care about was that the blood which dried to her body was showing now to this Taur. What would she think to seeing this from the small human? Well again, it mattered not to Rin who once she had satisfied after inspecting her work, gently folded her Kimono and left it atop a large rock and slowly began to strip away at her pants and tabi socks, doing much of the same with them, leaving her straw sandals at the edge of the water along with her sword leaning up against that rock. This leaving Rin in only her bandage wrap and undergarments covering a portion of her lowerbody, or rather what was important to be covered if some curious wolf-man thing decided to take a peek at what he had missed out on from earlier. Rin's brow furrowed at the thought as she slowly began to move forward toward the water, without hesitation or even a simple testing of the water, stepped in with one foot completely. She cold temperature of the water did manage to halt her for only a moment, causing her body to involuntarily freeze up. Though with some willpower she simply pressed on within that moment and quickly did the same thing with her other foot before she started to wade out, deeper and deeper until he water was up to her waist. At that time she would submerge herself, simply to get it over with, so as maybe her body would adjust. Coming up with her hair drenched and now in her face, she would simply swipe it from her eyes, and simply began to concentrate on her stomach and lowerback, cupping her hands to get a small pool of water within and slowly began to scrub against the dried blood with her bare hands once again as she did with her kimono, practically already forgetting about the Taur and what she was doing or even at this point, thinking. |
