With the discovery of the eastern continent and the surprise it held, Pern has been shaken. Half the engineered clutch has hatched revealing mutations. Most disturbing of all, are the disappearances of entire Weyrs; but does it have any connection?

Currently it is the End of Summer. The weather is hot and stormy.

J'ro was up to his sneaky ways once more. It had come to him in a dream last night, or perhaps it had simply been Venith reminding him of a thought he had had, but either way the thought had come to him and he was going to listen to it! After all, the things in his head rarely ever led him astray... right? What about that one time you attempted to walk off the cliff because you thought your feet had wings? Venith's calm voice broke through his thoughts and he frowned. What was his silly dragon on about, he HAD footwings once upon his time, it wasn't his fault they had flown off without him.

He felt a snort of amusement in his mind and huffed, wishing he was't supposed to be on duty in the infirmary right then. His head hurt something fierce; he had gotten so caught up in this little plan that he had lost track of time and hadn't had a chance to smoke his pipe. It meant a killer headache, but at least he was sane enough to actually work with his patients properly today.

Don't tell anyone Venny, I could get in trouble for this. He added as he walked into the infirmary, a small basket of vials in his hand. He had developped a new mixture the night before, something that would hopefully make the drinker more alert and aware. He hadn't had a chance to test it much, so that was his plan today. While restocking the normal approved medicines, he was going to slip a vial of his secret concoction onto the shelf and let another healer be the one to administer it. It was brilliant, fool proof even! The stuff even had a similar look to one of the commonly used medicines. He gave a crooked smile to no one in particular as he began placing he vials on the infirmary shelf, easily slipping his drug into place.

Nisyla was feeling better today. That mood was obvious to almost anyone that came around. Her eyes were brighter, her smile more genuine, she was no longer pretending to be alright with the world, she actually was. Windy was perched on top of her shoulder currently, the small green firelizard sleeping amongst the waves of dark hair that were allowed to free-fall as they wished. It was almost peaceful today, and Nissy knew that it was better that way. There was nothing to worry about, nothing to be concerned with.

The eggs had been moved, the Weyrwoman had come, she had seen her sister...yes, that last one was the best of all. Smiling ear to ear, the younger sibling thought back to that morning when she had finally been free enough to go and see Rhoslyn again. The weyrling was busy, her dragonet still refusing to leave the sands, barely moving as she always was. Somehow the Weyrlingmaster had been convinced that it was right to wait to start lessons until the other six eggs had been hatched and impressed, or at least postpone the more in depth ones.

It gave everyone an opportunity to breath, and of course focus on their first Fall. It had gone well enough, not too many injuries thanks to a few sent over riders from Benden and Ista both. Together with the riders at Silver Falls it had made three small to medium sized wings, which covered the continent that was only about the size of two Ista's Islands. There was still work to be done though, still riders to help and Weyrfolk to heal from normal colds and stomachaches.

Windy perked up as she heard someone come in, the young green tilting her head to one side then the other. It was another healer, a man-thing like Her-thing. Yes, and this one was wearing pants. "No. Windy, don't you dare." Nisyla's soft voice was gently scolding, not nearly as strong as would be needed to control the green. She was learning to curb the flit's strange habits, especially how to deal with them herself, but that did not mean she knew how to control her.

Windy took off before Nisyla could say anything more, diving toward the man and reaching out with tiny green claws toward the healer's pants. She did not care if he was doing his man-thing duties, she did not care one bit. She wanted his pants, it was much fun, he would soon see. Nisyla would have shouted, would have warned him if it would have helped. However, Windy had learned to do what she did best quickly. In the next second she blinked between, hopefully still holding onto the man's pants unless he had managed to move before she could.

"I'm so sorry. I hope you're alright...please, I apologize. She has a habit of doing this. Windy, get back here!" Nisyla rushed over, her eyes wide with frantic thoughts as she tried to scrabble for a hold of her pet, pulling the green back kicking and screaming from between as it were. The flit appeared once more where she had disappeared, and flicking her neon green and almost black banded tail, she chirped happily. See, it was much fun, wasn't it? Sure she had tried to, and probably failed in this case, give him an inter-dimensional pants wedgie, but it was fun right?!?!

"Bad flit."

He was focused on his task, too focused perhaps, or he might have noticed the presence of someone else in the room. So it was that as he was lifting the final vial, which contained regular old fellis, he wasn't prepared for the sudden tug on his pants. Yelping in a combination of surprise and discomfort, he dropped the vial and it shattered on the floor. He whipped around, wide eyed in shock, to stare at whoever it was that was talking at him.

"Wh-wha in Pern?" He choked out, finally reaching back to tug his pants properly into place. "No I'm fine, really, just fine. Oh but I dropped.. shards that's not good." He wasn't so much talking to Nisyla as he was mumbling to himself, rubbing his hands awkwardly on his pants. He really wasn't too good with social situations, so he quickly dropped down to begin picking up the shards of glass.

A croon sounded from the entrance to the bowl, where Venith had come to investigate what had her rider all confused. He didn't say anything at first, merely cocking his head an an attempt to see in. When that failed, he finally huffed and reached out to his rider.

"No nothing happened Venny. There was an attack on my pants. Yes just like that time in the forest. No it wasn't the tree people this time. Do you see any trees in here?" He was a bit too distracted to keep his half of the conversation mental.

Despite the rider trying to tell her everything was fine, she still was beside herself worrying about the whole thing. After all, Nissy didn't just let things slide like that easily. Nope, no way. She furrowed her brow as she pulled Windy up off the floor, the green trilling happily as she wrapped her tail around Hers' wrist. "I still feel terrible. I should help you clean that up...oh bother."

Setting the green down on a nearby table, she grabbed up a cloth and started mopping up the spilled liquid. The only thing that made her head come up was the sound of the rider speaking to his dragon out loud, her eyes fixating on the man. "Tree people?" Her voice was curious in a genuine wonder, not so much in a disbelief or disappointment in the man. She honestly wanted to know, to understand.

Sensing the presence of the dragon, Windy popped into between from her perch on the table and came out near the male. Trilling, she looked around, seeing no fun things to take, but there was a large DragonThing for her to sleep on, that was nice. Not caring whatsoever that this was a dragon she did not know, the green went to plop herself on his head and curl up to take a little nap.
