With the discovery of the eastern continent and the surprise it held, Pern has been shaken. Half the engineered clutch has hatched revealing mutations. Most disturbing of all, are the disappearances of entire Weyrs; but does it have any connection?
Currently it is the End of Summer. The weather is hot and stormy.

Something red zipped by- was that the glimpse of blue fabric? Well, perhaps, but something else was following, much slower and less... well less excitedly. If anyone was watching, they might see a boy, his brown eyes searching for the giggling blur with a peaceful dull sheen. A faint smile touched Mleynn's lips as he watched his sister scoot around. You might think he was careless, maybe rude for allowing the wild child to roam. But despite his rather unintelligent look to his eyes, he was watching quite intently.
You wouldn't have to watch long to see the boy rub a rather interesting, puckered scar on his left arm. Perhaps he thought the scar was a lesson. A lesson where if you don't watch out for your loved ones, someone gets hurt. Maybe it makes him sad to know he wasn't on guard. But truthfully, the scar is a sort of promise and reminder to himself: Protect Emeliynn. Protect her, no matter what. That's what brothers were for, atleast what Mleynn was anyway.. "Meeetle!!" Emeliynn twirled so that the worn fabric of her dress spun outwards, singing the nickname nice and loud to her brother. In an instant, Mleynn jerked his head up, to smile at his sister beside him. "What'd...you find..Emmy??" "Follow!" Instead of allowing her brother to follow, she snatched up his hand and dragged him along. He'd learned to obey the overwhelming tornado, as he might never understand things like she did. So.. follow along. She'd be patient enough to walk him through the steps. Sort of like learning to dance! But for Mleynn, that really did seem impossible..
Emeliynn pulled Mleynn through the crowds, finally slipping through a crack in the Hold's wall. From here, the journey continued on to a small field. In the sky, large clouds were building. "See! There's a big fat queen who lives up there. She's married to the Wind King. But the King, he's a reeeeal weirdo. He likes to throw lightning bolts at the clouds. The queen has a very deeeeeeep voice and so those boomy sounds? She's telling that silly man of hers to stop flinging lightning bolts everywhere. Those things are sharp you know!!"
Mleynn grinned, having flopped down in the green. Man, he just loved those fantastic stories... Where'd his sister get that...that.. skill..? "MEETLE! LOOOOOOK!"
Mleynn jumped, spooked by the intensity of his sister's excitment. "W-W-wwhat?!" "Open your EYES! Its...its..its..." "It's it?" "A DRAGON!" Mleynn squinted, but yes. He saw what his sister was so bouncy about. Emeliynn cried, flailing her arms crazily above her head.
"What'cha doing?" "I want it to come down! I want to see it! I want.. I want to pet it!" ".....It might eat ya." "Nope. It'll love me. Because I'm a princess."
Riiiiight.
----> {OOC} Meetle is not pronouced like 'kettle'. It rhymes with 'beetle'

No one understands just how amazing I am...it's pathetic! How could I let something like that happen? We're going to have to find those little squishy things you all like, you know the ones that are food-er-candidates for the dragonets.
Vurisath's hum radiated through Kalista's mind, the green's eyes flashing red as she banked across the ocean and then over some fields. It was all boring, so very boring, and that one thought rattled in the dragoness' brain over and over again. She hated going after those squishy things that everyone needed so badly, no one cared that much. Sure they were always happy enough to be found by a dragon...or they used to be, before the disappearing Weyrs and the upset Holds.
Shaking her head, Kalista ignored the rantings of her green and urged her down toward the people below. There was some sort of Holding here, and it was a good enough place to start she thought. Might as well look around a bit, the Lord had sent word to the Weyr that they may have some hopefuls and to take the pick they wanted. Needed was more like it. Settling onto the ground, the green trumpeted her arrival, her head throwing back like an anxious runner, almost black hide flashing with its neon markings in the sunlight.
All wanting to be seen come now!
She would not wait long, not long at all. If they made her wait, she would snap and be furious and make a mess of things as best she could. Kalista knew she could hold off her temperamental green, but only for so long and in so many ways. For all her tantrums and sassy come-backs, Vurisath was smart, she knew how to work her way around her rider's commands, and she would do what she wanted.

Emelilynn hadn't heard a word Mleynn had told her. Instead of minding, she skipped past her brother, her red curls bouncy and bobbing like autumn leaves on a branch on.. a rather windy day. Mleynn saw this, noted the dragon (slowly of course) and the pieces came together at the rate one might compare to the dripping of molasses. "...Emmy wait..!" But instead of any reply from his sister, a seething command touch his mind. Bewildered, Mleynn looked all around the area, glassy eyes brightening in a hint of panic. It took him two steps to reach Emelilynn, whose hand was then taken. "You don't understand! I need to see the dragon! Think of how cheery she'll be if I told her a story!" But Emelilynn had heard the voice too, and now she pushed and pulled Mleynn to the landed beasty. "Hi! I'm Princess Emelilynn and this is my very sweet brother Mleynn. I-" "Y-You're a dragonrider..." Emelilynn turned to her brother, looking at him with a loving gaze. That was her brother! Always declaring the obvious. He was the greatest! "One time, my brother even fought off a GIANT rabid dog that tried to eat me! Nearly bit him in half! And and then he had a sword fight with this monsterous man, who breathed fire at me. But Mleynn jumped and took the fire to his arm instead of letting me get hurt!!" Mleynn gaped. "Emmy that wasn't......" "Shh! 'course it was! He'll be the best dragonrider!" "R-r-rider..?" Mleynn turned to face the intimidating green, focusing on the rider. During this distraction, Emelilynn danced forward, and decided to give the green dragon a kiss on the snout. Mleynn leapt forward to snatch at Emmy, but agin, she skipped from his reach. "Pretty pretty princess!" She sang, oblivious to the enraged mood of the 'pretty pretty princess.'
