Alright so I've been noticing a little hesitancy with doing things, as in building and crafting, hunting and fighting. Combat is something that all characters should be allowed to do in some fashion no matter what, but there are other things we need to consider here. Realism is important, but this is minecraft, and half of the fun of it is building and farming and fighting mobs and what not. I just want to know what kind of a balance you guys want with this. Do we want to have specialized roles and just trust others not to do things their character can't? Or do we want to let people be able to take on all roles so that no work is left undone. I think MCMMO does a good job of making people focus on a few things. But I want us to talk about it and come to a decision together. I think roles can be broken down like this Building Mining Fishing Foraging / hunting Woodcutting Farming. This of course can be amended too. Edited by Linxiekins, May 6 2013, 09:53 PM.

Well all players must do some degree of everything, but I do think roles would be kind of cool. For example a blacksmith. |

I would prefer more specific roles. Like one or two things rather than three. Roles would be something akin to: Tailor, Blacksmith, Alchemist, Miner, Forager, Builder, Fisher, Farmer & Tinker. And for Combat: Ranger, Warrior, Cleric (so healing), Wizard, Edited by Raz, May 7 2013, 12:45 PM.

The problem is, people not being on all the time, and people probably all want to do the same thing. I think maybe this needs to wait till later. For now I am going to say everyone can do everything. |

I think that's for the best, even if you do limit people to certain roles I'm sure they won't always do that certain thing or it'll get a little boring. That isn't to say we shouldn't have specialists like blacksmiths or carpenters for roleplay purposes, as we should, and have their characters skills should reflect this and be roleplayed accordingly.
