According to the Wroxham website Harlow is reputed to have one of the biggest budgets in league one this year!Does this mean this really is our year? Or do you need more than money?

I think it's probably accurate that we've got one of the biggest budgets. We've got some of the highest attendance figures in the division and our off the field setup is now paying dividends, so it's only natural that we have more money for the playing budget. Some of these other clubs who groundshare and get no money from the bar or those that only have 30-40 paying customers are bound to have smaller budgets unless they have a sugar daddy who is happy to plough money into it.

That said, reading between the lines of what Tom Cunningham said in the close season, our playing budget is determined by how much revenue we generate on the footballing side (i.e gate receipts, prize money, bar sales) rather than the events and pitch /function room hire.

I'd also expect that we've had one of the larger budgets the past couple of years, and so we're definitely not guaranteed anything.

Hornchurch, Cray, Sudbury, Cheshunt, Maldon & Tiptree are all tipped to have decent budgets too, but the long and short of it is no-one really knows. We can all guess how much certain players are on, but unless you're behind the scenes of every club it's impossible to know, so any talk of budgets is purely speculation.

To answer my own question as to whether we need more than money obviously we need commitment, skill, staying free from injuries and suspensions and last but definitely not least a bit of good fortune. I dislike calling it luck but I suppose it's one and the same thing! So be lucky tonight and let's get the promotion ball really rolling along.
