U.S. Personnel Dossier Top Secret Name: Jack "Jello" Doff Age: 34 Height: 5'8 Weight: 150 lbs Occupation: Surgeon Rank: Captain Relationship Status: Unknown History Jack grew up in a rural community. Frequently playing in the woods and wetlands which surrounded his house, Jack picked up a knowledge of plants, animals, and woodsman-ship/marshlore which proved invaluable to him later in life. The local kids hated him because of his high intelligence, unfortunate name, and big mouth. Their constant torment forced his intense love for humanity to twist darkly, giving him sociopathic tendencies. The most memorable moment from Jack's childhood was the day he got between a mother bear and her cubs. After being brutally mauled he was forced to crawl for miles back to his house. Due to his injuries it took him almost a full week. Suffering starvation and dehydration to this extent stunted his growth a bit, but his drive to survive is unmatchable. After recovery, Jack struggled to find the reason he was still alive. He came to the conclusion that he was worthless, and should spend his life saving others. After highschool, Jack had good enough grades to get into any college he wanted -- he chose to join the military instead. He believed that a real man is well rounded: intelligent, spiritual, and trained in the physical and martial arts. For this reason, even through his tours in Iraq he still pushed himself to study hard and earned himself a bachelors in Engineering. The defining moment in his life came just before the end of his second tour. During one of the terrorists guerrilla raids on a medical convoy, Jack was ordered to man the unit's lone machine gun and hold the aggressors off. Even after being strafed with enemy fire and grenade shrapnel, Jack remained at the gun firing until the ammo drum was depleted, at which point he pulled out his sidearm. Upon successful evac of the unit, it was discovered that Jack had taken twelve pieces of shrapnel from a grenade and four bullets to the chest. The examining medical officer said it was the weirdest case he had ever seen. Every single piece of metal had passed straight through him with minimal damage to arteries, nerves and muscles. It was like "shooting jello". The nickname stuck, and "Jello" was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions, as well as the purple heart. During his time in the field hospital Jello came to greatly admire the doctor who saved his life, this prompted him to try and follow in the man's footsteps. During the remainder of his stay, Jello followed the doctors and nurses around in his wheelchair incessantly asking questions. Rather than getting discharged as planned, Jello reenlisted. After graduating from advanced medic training top of his class, Jello was assigned to learn surgery from a top Pakistani medical school. Surprisingly, the hospital that Jello's school was connected to did many illicit organ transplants, making their surgeons some of the best in the world. In addition, the poor resources of the area forced the students to frequently adapt and improvise to meet their needs. Jello graduated with a surgical ability that few could match, as well as an ability to do surgery in almost any location, with nearly any tool he could find. After graduation, Jello was re-assigned as a field surgeon. Not even two months into his tour, he saved the life of a wounded three star general in the middle of a fire fight by pinching off a severed artery with a humvee mechanics adjustable wrench and some super glue. This gained him widespread attention, a gold star, and a bullet in the foot. He was re-re-assigned to be a special forces field surgeon. More specifically, the surgeon for Marine Recon 1, the platoon assigned to "unconventional warfare". After serious issues with his physical therapy while trying to pass the stringent shooting requirements for Recon, more shrapnel was discovered in Jacks right armpit. The shrapnel in inoperable to due its proximity to an important nerve cluster. The lumps of metal reduce his range of motion and ability to resist kickback. It was only by knowing the right people, flashing his medal of honor, and pointing out that he was a surgeon, not an infantryman, that Jello managed to slide through the recon testing. To make up for his barely-above-average shooting ability (or utter crap, compared to the rest of the special forces people), Jello trained heavily in martial arts and hand to hand or hand to weapon combat. Combining Wing Chun, Jiu Jutsu, Boxing, Ninjutsu, Escrima (stick/knife fighting) and Bo Jutsu (staff fighting), Jello has created his own style of fighting which relies on speed, agility, endurance and economy of movement to make up for his lack of height, weight, or strength. Rather than taking his enemy head on, Jello attacks vital points while avoiding damage and forcing his opponent to do all the work, tiring them out before finishing them or just assassinating with no warning. As a medical officer, his rank rose much faster than his peers so that he could command any injured soldier he might encounter in order to better treat them. With this heightened rank came higher clearance, which really meant that he was forced to undergo training to resist torture and evade capture. Combined with his childhood experiences and experience in unconventional warfare, Jello has become a very stealthy person and excellent tracker. At the age of thirty two Jello retired from the military and set up his own clinic in a rural area. His specialty was making house-calls, which gained him a lot of popularity and quite a following, as well as a few lawsuits. The litigious soon found that accidents happened to those who sued Jello just to get his money, and the court dates quickly stopped appearing on his calender. Those who had legitimate complaints were generally treated fairly. In addition to his tendency to forego payment or barter for chimneys, sheep, chickens, or whatever else the client had in lieu of money, many people of the community respected him very highly, or found themselves in his debt. That's why two years later, when the first infected showed up at his clinic and he blew the man's head off without a second thought, they gave him a chance to leave town rather than incarcerate him. It is unknown at this time whether or not Mr. Doff knew the infected was not human. Rumors flew about his possible relationship with someone known only as "B", however, nothing has been verified. Psychological Profile Strengths: Solo actions, Unit actions Adaptability Loyalty Endurance Weaknesses: Leadership (low self esteem) sociopathic tendancies Messianic Complex crowds Jack's psyche is complex. On the one hand, he has a deep and abiding hatred for people. On the other, he loves people and wants to save everyone he can. He is good at working with others or alone, but his low self esteem prevents him from having the confidence to lead others. Due to his childhood, Jack gets nervous around crowds of people. Surprisingly, he has shown much more resilience to crowds of infected, possibly due to the lack of social aggression they present. Jack will go out of his way to save others, and has put himself in harms way many times. At the same time, his uncaring execution of the first infected hints that he may have become a serial killer had the Marines not paid him to do it anyway. Once he considers someone a friend he is loyal to the extreme, and he can instantly adapt to almost any situation. If Jack has one main characteristic, it is his endurance. Jack has repeatedly shown himself to be able to continue despite grievous wounds, hunger, or dehydration. Combat Analysis: Jello's marksmanship is top notch, as long as he has a rifle. Due to the shrapnel in his arm Jack lacks the range of motion necessary for a pistol or the strength necessary to combat the kickback from a machine gun or assault rifle. His time in the marines and special forces means that with a sniper rifle or semi automatic marksman rifle he is deadly. In close quarters combat Jack has been known to use anything and everything to his advantage. During training he managed to knock a sergeant unconscious with a rock tied to a piece of dental floss. The words used to describe him by his superiors were "crazy", "viscous", and "scarily calm". Without training Jack would fly into a berserk rage. With training he has learned to turn off his pain sensors, as well as drastic feats of strength that can only be attributed to berserk strength. Soon after the first wave of infected hit the cities, Jack was bitten on the left hand. How he survived is unknown, but it is suspected that cutting off his own little and ring finger, as well as part of his palm, stopped the infection before it could spread. |
