The Steel Barracks - Imperial Garrison;Duchy of Vaga:

Six organized groups stood at attention along the parade grounds, flags of the Galactic Empire blowing in the wind as a slight breeze whisked across the assembly. No one moved as a single figure walked up to a small platform and placed his hands behind his back. "AT EASE!"

As one the assembled troops shifted, almost flawlessly into a parade rest position and the man on the rise smiled inwardly at the movement. "Soldiers of the Steel Battalion, welcome to your new home! Your Emperor has deemed that our services are needed to keep this world under the RIGHTFUL guidance of the Empire. We have been recently reinforced and now stand strong! The Steel Battalion has not lost yet and I don't plan on seeing that happen ANYTIME! LONG LIVE THE EMPEROR!"

"LONG LIVE THE EMPEROR! LONG LIVE THE EMPEROR!"

The soldiers of the 229th Special Missions Battalion cheered their patriarch as Major Goran Friedrich stepped down from the platform and made his way to each of company of his Battalion and performed an on site inspection, with each Company commander following him as he moved from each formation. He had four combat companies with a strength of one hundred and thirty six soldiers, most of them hardened veterans. One company was his Headquarters Company, which gave the support that was needed while in the field along with the combat vehicles attached to the Battalion. The last formation was the 229th Transport Squadron, which had twelve space capable landing craft, allowing for swift strikes on rebellious forces.

Goran grinned to himself as he finished up his inspection, his Battalion was ready, now he just needed a target and he would do the Emperor's Will.

The Steel Barracks - Imperial Garrison - Duchy of Vaga: 0630

Major Goran Friedrich and his officers had been up half the night getting ready for the upcoming operations into western fringes of the Duchy of Vega. Goran planned on a two prong operation. He would land half the battalion under Captain Hiram Vweln to secure the landing area with the 151st, and then push out towards the fringes of the Duchy. The rest of the Battalion under his direct command would standby and once rebellious forces had been confirmed they would hot drop down onto them, hoping to catch them before they could withdraw.

Goran glanced at Captain Vwlen and spoke up. "Any questions Captain?"

"No sir, I think we have everything we need to strike at these.. insurgents." The voice of a man six years younger than Goran himself replied.

"Good, I am giving you our RTTs and CATs so you should be pretty mobile along with your scout bikes. Make sure of your recon assets, if we can find a concentration of these rebel dissenters we can bring them the Emperor's justice."

"Yes sir. I have no doubt the men are up for the task." Captain Vwelen replied, giving a crisp salute. 'With your permission sir I would like to do a last minute check of the men."

"Of course Captain, may the will of the Emperor be behind us." Goran returned the salute and watched as the man before turned and made off to check his assault units. A slight grin crossed Goran's face as he thought back to several years back to a different war, and a much younger Goran Friedrich.

"You are thinking again sir. Told you that is usually bad for you."

Goran glanced up and narrowed his eyes at a much older man standing before him, one wearing the ranking of a Senior Sergeant. Goran lost his grin and stared at the man for a long moment and then spoke up. "One of us has to do the thinking around here, Senior Sergeant or nothing would get done."

A low chuckle emulated from Senior Sergeant Gaston Mahon, the senior most Non-Commissioned Officer in the 229th and Goran's oldest and most trusted friend. "I guess that is true sir. That must be why you are the officer and I am the just the guy that keep everything running smoothly here."

Goran actually chuckled at that and nodded slowly. He had known Gaston since the very end of the Clone Wars when he had taken a freshly commissioned Lieutenant Goran Friedrich under his wing and shown him how to survive against the hordes of Battle Droids that the Separatists deployed against the now defunct (and good riddance) Republic. Since then Goran had made sure that Gaston was assigned to his command every time he was transferred. So far it had worked very well for both of them.

"What's your sixth sense telling you, Gaston?" Goran asked as he watched Besh and Cresh Companies load up onto the four Sentinel and eight IF-120-class Landing Craft assigned to the 229th.

For as long as he could remember Gaston Mahon had had a sixth sense so to speak about situations he was about to get into. Going back to when he was just six and Truger the Pain tried to steal his money. He had won that fight, barely and got a real beating from his father when he got home for fighting but he hadn't lost a fight since that sixth sense always seeming to come into play. "I think we will find them sir. Though I don't know if we will rescue our people, least alive."

Goran took a deep breath and nodded. "If that is the case Senior Sergeant, we will most certainly give these scum the justice they truly deserve. By the Emperor's Will..." He turned and walked out of the building he used as a command center and watched the transports lift off, heading out towards their destiny.
