Here be all technical discussion of measurement of any empirical data bearing directly upon climate, past or present. This includes direct measurement of temperature, precipitation, etc, and the calculation of averaged data of any kind, such as measurement of global or regional trends, cycles, variations, or averages. It includes discussion of indirect inference of data for the past, based on the data available now, such as ice cores or any other proxies.
