Lucy Beale will be killed of this spring leading us to wonder how her death occurred.

What a shame they're killing of a legacy character? :( They should have killed Abi or Lauren.

I utterly agree, I wonder if this is in anyway because the current actress is a bit rubbish. Not only that but it will take them almost a year to solve the murder, taking them right up to the birthday celebrations!

She's that bad though I wouldn't care less if she simply just popped up with a new face one day. Apparently DTC moaned about the deaths of Cindy Beale and Kathy Beale so why he's done this is anyones guess.

Ratings. He wants good strong ratings all the way through the year right up to next Feb.

Killing off a legacy character is nothing new in Soap Land, in Corrie Ken has lost his parents, brother and nephew, 2 wives and his daughter between 1961 and 2001. Over in Emmerdale Annie Sugden has buried her husband, her dad, all her children and 2 of her grandchildren over the years.

I will be glad to see the back of her- I really don't like the character.

Lauren would be my next choice lol

That's true but there isn't many Beales left now is there? They're definitely thin on the ground. We still have a few Barlow's and Sudgen's who could return on day but with the Beales there isn't much scope left. I can't see Ben Hardy staying around for long which would mean both the twins wouldn't be in the show. I wouldn't be surprised if we found out Lucy had a secret baby in Devon but I'm not sure what we can bring from this. Poor decision IMO but at least it's got people talking I suppose.

Maybe that is why Jane is back, boost the numbers! It would be nice to see Peter remaining the square long term, maybe he and Lola will make a go of things?

As for legacy families I do wonder if we will see Martin Fowler again soon, Sonia has already confirmed they are an item again.

To be honest I'm not too keen on a Jane/Ian reunion but I can it'll happen with them both leaving poor Mas and Denise in time for the 30th. I just feel that it's water under the bridge now and I don't want them to go back to it. The powers that be are probably trying to making Eastenders version of Ken and Deirdre with Jane and Ian but I'm not sure it'd work.

I'd like to see Peter and Lola make a go of these things but I do wonder whether Lola's reaction to Peter's present was foreshadowing, maybe they are too different? As for Ben Hardy I don't think he'll be around for long, four years tops unfortunately IMO.

Not sure about Martin. I always found James Alexandrou to be rather drab in the role and him and Sonya were up there with the worst pairings in Soap at the time. I wish they hadn't killed Mark Fowler off off screen to be honest. A recast and it could work.

I have a solution for that. If we can bring in Matt Willis as a partner for Stacey then I think we can get away with Harry Judd to play Martin!
