Soap Legend Posts: 382 Group: Members Member #3 Joined: Dec 10, 2013	God this egotistical man is messing with the shows history, turning David and Carol from having a brief trys in the broom cupboard at school and apart from that only knowing each others names at school to them being the best lovers of their schooldays. Not just that but adding 20 years onto the age of Ethel's dog and giving Nick Cotton another son we never heard about before and a wife, surely Dot would have known beforehand at some point that Nick was married in about 1979. Also some of the subtle refs to the history seem to contradict the original storylines. Being a lifelong EE viewer, I can vouch for the authenticity of the original stories and the retcons years later. DTC was good and full of promise when he took over but he is another one who is full of empty promises and he is just like his 2 abominable predecessors Santer and Newman.

He's back with Kat, Roxy is chasing after Aleks, everybodies happy! As for Ben I wouldn't put it past DTC to turn him into a 6 footer with blonde hair, perfect hearing and a penchant for the ladies...... Edited by Roverman, May 23 2014, 01:31 PM.

Soap Legend Posts: 382 Group: Members Member #3 Joined: Dec 10, 2013	The backstory of the Carters has been retconned as well. for years we never heard of Shirley having a "Younger brother" Mick Carter "really her son" and we got a vague mention of her sister Tina in her 50s. Now Shirley has an instant family. Also the age that Deano and Carly were when Shirley left has varied inbetween infancy and teenage years. Shirley said a few episodes ago she left in 2000. It may have been when she cut all ties but I think she may have meant when she left her 3 children. Also in 2006 Shirley had a locket with photos of her 3 children, never mentioning a 4th, Mick carter, he firstborn son, a secret son.

Soap Legend Posts: 382 Group: Members Member #3 Joined: Dec 10, 2013	Tonight they showed a pic of David and Carol together as teens, yet again over egging the retcon that they were Romeo and Juliet when originally Carol only knew of David at school and hardly spoke to him apart from one day when they had a tryst behind the bike sheds and then David was seen off by her brother Derek after he beat him up and terrorised him, Wicksy and Pat, making them flee Walford in late 1976.
