Of all the 'celebrity' deaths today this was the saddest news. John Bardon played some wonderful characters over the years, including the station master in the film Clockwise, Charley Gimbert's father in Lovejoy as well as playing Darryl's Dad in Birds of a Feather.

I think we all hoped he'd recover enough to come back into 'Enders on a semi-casual basis but it wasn't to be. All I hope is that Jim's storyline is concluded with tact, respect and dignity.

RIP. An great eastenders character who is often strangely overlooked in the legends category.
