Several men turned and watched with interest, and though most of the clientele didn't seem to recognize the song, they nodded appreciatively, any personal like or dislike for the song outweighed by their enjoyment of listening to her voice and watching the way she moved. The pale, redheaded man who had shared the table with Sadie and Hemlock seemed particularly fascinated, his disappointed look from when the attractive blonde left shifting into one of faint wonder.

Neither the bartender nor Mr. Davis paid her much mind, but in the time she'd spent there, the bartender never paid much of anything mind.

The schoolgirls looked on with alternate envy for Erela's voice and figure and disdain that she wasn't singing a more "popular" song, though none of them said anything, as the girl who had previously been the loudest had gone totally silent, simply watching Erela with the faintest of smirks.

Sadie's smile quickened Hemlock's heartbeat, she felt blood rushing to her extremities, her pupils dilated, her toes curled, she unconsciously pushed her chest out, all signs of attraction that Hemlock had observed hundreds of times. But that had been in other people. She had never felt like this about another person, not while she'd been human.

Hemlock met Sadie's eyes, "Wherever you like. But..." Hemlock's eyes dropped and she bit her lip nervously, "It's my first time."

This was true, the shyness was an act, but it was a fun act.

Sadie sauntered forward, and her mouth went by Hemlock's ear. There was no breath coming from it. "Tell me, dead woman, who brought you back?"

Hemlock was surprised, mildly. Going anywhere with anyone was risky business, and that was before she'd joined the ranks of the supernatural. Mostly she was disappointed, whoever, or whatever, Sadie was, she could have waited a while longer to pop the question, it had been shaping up to be a fun night.

She pulled herself in closer to Sadie, meshing against her body, and whispered softly into her ear, "Asks the woman with no breath," She nibbled on Sadie's earlobe, "What's your interest, I'm here now aren't I? If you really want the nitty, gritty details well... I'll still be here in the morning won't I?"

Sadie chuckled, the sound light and pleasant despite the grim turn of topic. "Indeed, I just figured I'd get the surprises out of the way first. As long as you're open to new and... interesting experiences, I suppose there will indeed be time in the morning."

And with that, her hand flicked back like lightning, flipping the lightswitch off before pushing Hemlock quickly to the bed.

"What's your move going to be, Gideon?" Davis rumbled quietly under Erela's singing, still sitting next to Zeke at the bar.

He wasn't really sure what it was the girl was doing with that microphone, but he really wished she would stop. It was overpowering his own thoughts.

"I guess I need to find some friends. Not that I even know where to begin looking for those."

"I want to wake up in the morning
with that dark brown taste;
I want to see some dissipation in my face.
I wanna be evil, I wanna be mad
But more than that! I wanna be bad,"

As she sang she danced slightly with the microphone stand, stroking it. It was so much easier to make oneself an idol in these times. She remembered long ago, when most humans were preoccupied with practical pastimes, and so few could be drawn away by a muse. These days one simply had to twist the average person's obsession with celebrity into an obsession with just one in particular. She had to start slow, yes, but not as slowly as it had been...

"I wanna be evil, and trump an ace,
Just to see my partner's face.
I wanna be nasty, I wanna be cruel;
I wanna be daring, I wanna shoot pool!

"And in the theatre
I want to change my seat -
Just so I can step on
Everybody's feet!

"I wanna be evil, I wanna hurt flies;
I wanna sing songs like the guy who cries
I wanna be horrid, I wanna drink booze;
And whatever I've got I'm eager to lose...

"I wanna be evil, little evil me;
Just as mean and evil as I can be!"

"If I had to guess, I'd suggest looking for other dead people. Whatever trick you lot are pulling, it's got Morrow flustered and uncertain."

---

Polite applause came from across the club, with several wolf whistles from the less reserved patrons. The college girls had ceased paying particular attention, going back to chatting amicably.

Erela gave a small curtsy, then went back to her bar stool by the machine, and was pleased to note more than a few patrons glancing her way. Two men got up and checked out the binder that had all the song choices.

There were only two of the more interesting patrons left, sitting at the bar having a chat. What about, she wondered?

"I don't know about you, but I think I look pretty damn nimble for a corpse, don't you think?"
