Sadie blinked rapidly, caught off guard by Hemlock's ability to break from the passion, then her eyes narrowed as she tilted her head, angling an ear towards the sound. She grimaced. "Of all the nights for someone to start shit..."

---

The sirens seem to be coming from somewhere further along Main Street, maybe 1000 feet away.

Zeke slowly crept up main street, trying to use the cars as cover while he looked for a better vantage point.

There's a police car in the middle of the street at the intersection of Main and Congress, siren blaring away. There's no one there, either in the car or watching, and no other cars appear to be in the area. The car doors are all open, as is the trunk.

Erela looked sullen at his sudden departure, but only until he was out the door. Then she clocked out and grabbed her stuff quick as she could, and followed him at a distance, walking like she was walking home rather than stalking.

Hemlock had nearly reached the bar when a figure she recognized as the singer from earlier exited and walked off in the direction of the siren. Rather than catch up and accost a complete stranger, she decided to follow her for a bit and see if she kept going toward the disturbance.

Zeke walked up to the car and peered inside, hand resting on the gun at his belt. Something was very, very strange about all this. Cops didn't just leave their car unattended.

The siren's sound almost seems to shift in tone as Zeke approaches, becoming less like a normal sound and more like some sort of animalistic howl, distorted into being almost-but-not-quite the standard siren noise. The car's engine goes from silent to idling, without any start-up noises. Inside the vehicle, there is some sort of paper with odd symbols drawn on it laying in the back seat, stuck between the cushions.

The change in the siren's tone is not evident further away (if, indeed, the sound itself changed at all), though a careful enough listener might be able to notice the now idling engine.

Zeke reached in an grabbed the paper. It wasn't really well hidden, but odd symbols were never a good thing.

The paper came free of the cushions easily. Closer inspection of the paper reveals the symbols are lines drawn in what seems to be some form of bluish ink, lazy spirals weaving together across the page. The lines themselves seem to be moving on the paper, though it's difficult to tell if that's an optical illusion or something altogether stranger.

The engine noise grows slowly, steadily louder.

Zeke quickly stuffed the paper in his pocket, and dove behind one of the other cars near the scene. He wasn't sure who. He wasn't sure what. But something was coming, and it was accompanied by an engine.
