You awaken in an expanse of luminous mist, it swirls infinitely around you. In the distance, against the omnipresent golden glow of the mist, you see pinpricks of darkness, black specks dancing among the whorls. As your senses sharpen you notice one of the specks growing larger, rushing towards you. You sense others nearby, others like you, recently awoken, but you cannot see them. The approaching mote of darkness has come near enough for you to make it out, it is a sphere, solid black and entirely featureless. It finally comes to a stop in front of you. It gives you the impression being both massive, towering above you, and miniscule, an ebon marble viewed from above, simultaneously. As you ponder this you notice that the sphere is not as featureless as you'd first assumed, there is a spark of light coming from the center. As you watch the spark it gradually blossoms into a burning light, you realize you are watching the kindling of a new universe, the birth of a fresh world. That first blooming spark has grown into an inferno of creation, the rules of this new universe are establishing themselves even as the raw chaos of it's birth threatens to tear them apart. Basic particles pop in and out of existence, smash together into new elements, or get torn apart into still more. You gaze on as the passion of that first explosion dies down and the first stars are born. Something stirs within you, an urge, an urge to... create, to change the nature of these new stars, arrange them or scatter them, gather them up or cast them apart... What do you do? |

IT considers the realm in front of it for timeless aeons. IT considers these... Others. IT knows what IT wants. With an infinitely small yet infinitely massive force of will, IT reaches for one of these "stars" and the essence of the thing shatters, becoming an ambiance of sparkling warmth extending for untold distances through this strange and empty existence. The ambiance does not fade with time, instead lingering, glittering. IT is pleased, and turns ITs attentions towards the Others. Would They try and keep these central forms, these "stars", or would They understand Balance as IT did? |

Stars. Millions of tiny lights burning into existence within the blackness. Beautiful were they, the many twinkling lights, forged from the ethereal chaos. Suddenly, a single star winked out, detonating into a mass of much smaller, twinkling lights. Curious. Why would anything remove something so very wondrous. If wonders could be destroyed, they could be made. He immediately began forcing this new universe into forging many more stars, numerous stars, to more quickly fill it with wondrous light. |

She had many questions, but She sensed there was no one who had answers. This distressed Her at first, but quickly, she decided she must teach herself. She could do it. Though it sounded hard. She did not want anything else to have to learn alone. She decided to make the stars dance in pairs, in triplets, in quartets - let nothing dance alone that didn't need to. |

Wait, what? I was just minding my own business, when all these things started moving around. I should probably make some space, put this stuff into order. I'll gather some together into a pile, that'll- huh. Looks like it all caught on fire. Pretty cool, I wonder what'd happen if I make a really big one. Ok, it's getting hotter, and now it's... gone? What the hell, all that dust can't just vanish- Wait a second, that ball of fire is getting torn up. Looks like all the energy is getting sucked into some kind of hole. So, a handful of dust makes a neat ball of fire, but a lot of it makes an all devouring black hole? What kind of messed-up place is this? |

Your actions draw you into the sphere, you feel yourself mingling with your new creations, irrevocably bound into the fabric of this new world. You feel temporarily saddened at the loss of freedom but a strange new sensation shakes you from your reverie. A beautiful tingling suffuses your being, every star in the universe seems to pulse in time with your thoughts against the black backdrop of the universe. In tampering with the world you have become both less and more. You stretch your senses to their infinite limits, your consciousness bridging the breadth of the universe, and examine the results of your actions. A great star near the center of all is torn to shreds in a cataclysm of fire, it's remains scatter far and wide, suffusing the vicinity in a luminescent shroud. Within and without the glowing cloud the balance of stars is disturbed, more are born than die, soon the universe fills with light, until more is bright than dark. The chaotic, expanding rush of stars is soon calmed though, as each bright spark is drawn in to dance with it's neighbors, by twos and threes, fours and fives, the stars learn their steps and follow them. But soon there is a change in the dance, at the center of the great luminous nebula in the middle of all a great, dark maw is opened, swallowing everything in reach until the remainder learn to dance round it, spiraling ever out of reach of the pit. You gaze upon your handiwork, this great spinning disc of shining clouds and burning stars and wonder at it. It's beautiful, perfect, and yet... somehow incomplete. You narrow your view, focus your senses to a finer level of detail and observe that around many stars raw matter is accreting, clumping together into solid masses. Is this the next step, you wonder? Will you be pulled further in if you take it? What do you do? |

IT is conflicted. These masses are strange, the Others having done bizarre things, and many more of the imbalances have been made. But there was one who made a great darkness to balance the many lights. Perhaps there would indeed be some that IT could agree with, but the darkness must be stopped from growing any larger, lest Balance be nothing more than nothingness. An exertion of will, and the strange, raw matter begins swirling about the grand void, forming a shell that cracks and falls in. IT is displeased, and wills more and more of the matter into being, trying to contain the strange darkness. Eventually, the shell stabilizes into a metallic layer, though it cracks oddly, IT infuses the shell with enough power to correct itself, bend itself back outwards when the darkness pulls it inwards. Now, where there would be nothing there is a grand Core. IT is displeased by the centralized nature of this Core, but perhaps now some semblance of symmetry, of Balance, can be attained spreading out from it. IT turns ITs attention next to the dancing stars, attempting to find purpose for their odd movement. IT cannot understand, and exhausted from ITs work in making the shell, settles for theorizing. |

She quickly allowed Herself to be pulled in, enjoying the sense of belonging, of limitation. The solid spheres interested Her, and She quickly found a large one forming outside a trio of stars that pleased Her. She pushed and pulled at it, packing it tightly at the center, then unraveling the edges until they were dust again. There was an in-between state that fascinated Her, one mass of matter, yet moving freely. This state could be made bright or dark more easily than the other two. She pulled apart the core and made it bright, like a dim star with a hard shell. Then She took the surface and made it flow, more dimly still. She let the loose matter coalesce around it in a final outer layer. She stopped there, waited to see how it would react. This was fun. |

Wondrous. So many new things, the burning balls of light swirling in pairs, triplets, quadruplets... It was a magnificent sight. There was so much in the groupings. More things needed to be this way. He noticed one of the other beings compressing and decompressing some of this new matter, but it was all so... bland. As much as she compressed and decompressed, it only became thin and thick. This would not do. Summoning his will once more, he began to change this matter, their properties varying in weight, size, structure, luminosity, properties... Numerous new building blocks for use in the forging of these larger masses. |

I was surprised. It seems there was another thing to be made, something beneath black holes and stars. I decided to create one of his own. Spheres were boring, this new one would be disc-shaped, with one side mirror-flat, and another with mountains, water, and land. I set it to spin around a nearby star and settled in to watch it change. |
