I'm sure everyone will have a slightly different list of their favorite stones to use. But here is my list of useful crystals and why I find them so useful to keep on hand. I may edit this list to add stones that I forget to include. This is not a complete list, but I do want it to cover the most important ones. ![]() Quartz - This is an all-purpose stone that everyone should keep on hand. Quartz can be used for any purpose, does not retain negative energy, does not require cleansing and can amplify energy directed through it (making it perfect for use in wands). This stone can be programmed for ANY use. No one should be without at least one piece of quartz in their arsenal. This useful stone can also be used to cleanse any other object since it does not hold onto negativity. You can use a bowl of tumbled quartz as a bed for cleansing other crystals or vessels as well as to charge them. Amethyst - Almost as universally useful as quartz, amethyst also does not hold onto negative energy or require cleansing. It can be used as an alternate for cleansing and charging other stones and vessels (likely why CH uses these for their charging matrix). This is one of the stones known as the "Mystic" stone or "Healer" stone. Amethyst is a favorite amongst healers and can also be used in work on your third eye. Selenite - Another stone which does not retain negativity or require cleansing. This is a favorite of mine for cleansing routines. Care must be taken with selenite as it is a rather delicate stone that IS water soluble. It is not recommended to leave selenite in water for long. I normally use running water on my selenite sphere after intensive cleansing routines even though cleansing of this stone is not required...but if you do this, you will notice a dulling of the stone. This is a very good cleansing stone (especially white selenite), but very fragile. Tumbled stones can be used to create a "matrix" of protection within the home (one of my favorite uses) by placing a piece in each corner of each room. Selenite wands are also very useful in healing, but again this is a fragile stone and elongated pieces are especially easily broken. I highly recommend this stone, but special care must be taken with it's handling. ![]() Labradorite - One of the stones known as a "Mystic" stone and useful for divination, this is one of the best protective stones I know of. Average pieces of labradorite may appear grey with some tiny black spots. More expensive pieces will display impressive areas of deep blue flash or sometimes yellow or orange flash. This is the absolute best stone I know of for protecting the aura and energy body. It can also aid in psychic development, telepathy and some healing efforts. It is best known for it's ability to deflect unwanted energies and protect against energy leaks. This is the one I personally use for my protective spells. Flourite - Rainbow flourite is a beautiful stone (though natural pieces can be dull textured) which is incredibly useful for a number of purposes. It is a multi-purpose, multi-dimensional healing and protective stone. It neutralizes negative vibrations and therefore also does not require cleansing. It can be used in a number of healing applications, including treating psychological issues as well as activating a number of chakras. This is a very calming stone and highly recommended. Jasper - There are many different forms of jasper but most have one thing in common...a calming vibration. Jasper can be an incredible stone for calming and healing, though it's low vibration makes it's healing ability slower and therefore less noticeable. Different forms or colors of jasper have different properties, but mostly solid colors are very good calming stones. If you suffer from anxiety or a bad temper, choosing a color of jasper that appeals to you can help you deal with these. Rose Quartz - I think most would agree that my list wouldn't be complete without mentioning this stone. As a form of quartz, it retains no negativity and requires no cleansing. What makes rose quartz special is it's ability for healing the self-image and promoting both self-love and universal love. This is a healing stone of a very unique quality that many can benefit from. It heals the heart...but by realigning us with the universal...helping us to see ourselves and others without the bias we place on ourselves. Black Tourmaline - This is possibly the best protective stone available, though sometimes more costly than labradorite. It has similar protective qualities, though it's ability to deflect negativity is more pronounced. It is also said to protect against radiation from technology, though I cannot personally attest to this. Black tourmaline can also be used as a "banishing" stone as well as aiding in balancing the left and right sides of the brain. It is highly recommended for anyone's collection if you can afford it. I know there are stones I've missed here. So I will edit this list later as I can.

Nobody should be without Black Tourmaline. Not only does it bring flighty and scattered energies into focus, but it is a meta go to crystal for quick clearing of negative energies around and within us. My personal all time favorite! |
