If a friend was considering online dating, what would be your advice to him or her? Feel free to go into details. |

I cannot speak from personal experience about online dating as I have never taken part in personally meeting other persons for close personal relationship via the net even though I was divorced for 5 or so years. Neither did have experience of dealing with victims during my 30yrs police service. It is plainly obvious that there is a need for extreme caution, particularly for the fairer sex must be taken, either through a so-called accredited agency, or between one person and and another, for some, quite often, are at at a vulnerable stage of their life. I could 'go on' but to do so may in some things I say seem, though not intended patronising. However I am experienced in using a regional agency during the 5 yrs mentioned. I will keep this very short, as I would unnecessarily give far too much of myself away suffice it to say that the culmination of my exploits I met the woman older than me by almost 5 years; (who was the Company Secretary to the firm and (don't you dare tell anyone.. ;)wink, was the girlfriend of the Boss of the Agency. Whilst I will not say I 'fell in love with her the first moment' I knew, on our first date, Ann was the one for me' and we have just past our "Pearl [30] Wedding Anniversary. Psst... 'never a cross word between us'...........................................................since 6pm yesterday. :)) hugs F Edited by Fettler, Jan 6 2013, 11:42 AM.

I met Matt online in a group that we were both in. He was divorced and I am a widow, he lives in Scotland and I live in the states. We had a wonderful time together until both of our health started to fail. He came here and I went to Scotland, he showed me almost all of Scotland and we went to Belgium, Spain, England and a few other places. If I had never met him I would have never seen that part of the world. We don't visit each other anymore, but we stay in touch over the computer. Would I recomend it to a friend? Yes, as long as you take time to get to know the other person, let your family know if they come to visit or if you visit them. |

These are two brilliant answers, thank you so much for sharing. Frank, the happiness you and Ann share is obvious to all, and you are both very much blessed. I love to read what you have to say about these things, and anything else as well. We are lucky to have you here, you share so much joy with us. Online dating is something that I would have never considered. Emily you have let me in awe! What a wonderful friendship you must have with Matt. It's sad that you cannot meet any longer, but you have so many wonderful memories and still have the friendship online. Thank you both for sharing so much

I was so happy to read your post Emily, about your relationship with Matt; your meeting 'in the flesh' and having happy times together; and in particular. that you both keep in touch. I hope that you may long do so. Thanks Petra. |
