TSP Elects a New Cabinet

Citizens of The South Pacific voted this week for a new Cabinet in what was the first full election since the infamous Milograd coup. The positions up for election were all those mentioned at the top of this Update and most of the attention concentrated on the candidates for Delegate and Vice Delegate, with their campaign threads receiving a combined total of 56 replies against 15 in Chair of the Assembly and at most 4 in the other campaigns.

Former Delegate Belschaft ran to regain his position with Rebel-topia as his running mate against Vice Delegate HEM with his running mate Alv. Both are experienced members of The South Pacific and at first ended up with 10 votes each. In the run-off election Belschaft and Rebel-topia prevailed with a vote of 17-11 under the promise to keep TSP secure, enhance citizen involvement and participation and reforming the judicial branch once again.

Our Delegate–Elect thanks his supporters in his campaign thread just as the results were published and said that he planned to “discuss a number of matter with the new cabinet. I call on all citizens and residents of our regions build a better TSP for the future.”

Three Cabinet Newcomers

Our new Cabinet includes three newcomers that, while active as citizens, had never been elected to the TSP Cabinet in their own right. We are referring of course to Escade, Kris Kringle and Sandaoguo. Congratulations to the three of them!

Escade was appointed interim Minister of Regional Affairs following Topid’s recall the past month. She was now elected in her own right while promising to keep her integration efforts both in game and on the Forum and continuing with the reforms she had started in the MoRA.

Kris Kringle or Kringalia was Deputy Minister of Regional Affairs under Escade and was elected Minister of Foreign Affairs under a vow to enhance communications between The South Pacific and its allies and reform the Diplomatic Corps to make it more effective and accountable on its actions.

Sandaoguo is also known as Glen-Rhodes and was elected Chair of the Assembly while promising to push for the approval of the long debated Bill of Rights and ensuring that bills were voted on without being stalled after their debate.

RMB Discussions

Our RMB has been subject to various interesting discussions about the merits of recent WA resolutions that have been proposed. The latest discussion deviated into a brief discussion on the merits of a resolution that one resident would propose to give the teaching of social sciences an equal standing as experimental sciences.

TSP resident Oslo indicated that he thought it was unfair that “natural sciences have more importance than social sciences. I believe by redefining science we will become even more self-aware of how we stand in the world, leading to a change in the way we see ourselves compared to the world.”

Sierra Lobo countered that instead of seeking a redefinition of sciences it would be a better option to just require the teaching of both social and experimental sciences in school. He was of course gracious enough to give some advise to Oslo: “Good luck and do not be discouraged if you got a lot of criticisms. You will develop a thicker skin eventually.”

Happy Birthday Liberatia!

This Saturday 17th one of our citizens turned 15! Liberatia was a candidate for Delegate in the special election on June 2013 and was also a candidate for Chief Justice during the latest election last week. He has exhibited great will to work for the People of The South Pacific and we hope to see him in public office sometime in the future.

THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!

We encourage all our allies to read and discuss this Foreign Update. We shall publish our next Foreign Update on September 2013.

Thanks for the avvy Wuufu! xD
Thanks for the update! It's nice to see that TSP is recovering from the coup, and that there's so much interest in your election.

I must say, you in particular seem to be doing a good job thus far, just seeing you in Spiritus. We had long written-off TSP as a diplomatically inactive region. :P

We have had some rough times during the past months. I know that TSP has had some pressing problems abroad that have prevented us from organising of Diplomatic Corps.
I like to think that for now we are in a good time to think about reforming some parts of our policies. I had prioritised increasing communication with other regions and I intend to pursue that course while in office. :)
