![]() Founderless Regions Alliance Update - October 1st, 2013 In Today's Update: 1. Elections 2. Statement re: Osiris 3. Update re: UIAF-FRA Summit 4. Currently Before the RA 5. In Defence of NationStates ** ELECTIONS ** The Founderless Regions Alliance held their elections for the current 2-month term at the beginning of September, and saw one of the more active election periods in recent memory. Regional Liaison Officer The Regional Liaison Officer election (responsible for recruitment & support of member regions) fielded two candidates, People United Together (PUT) and Azerzia. PUT was the incumbent candidate after having won a by-election, but he lost by a very narrow margin to the veteran Azerzia, 6-5. Azerzia (6): Christian Democrats (TRR), Flowering Staplers (LA), Tim (SFBA), Falconias (LA), Drop Your Pants (Jethnea), Karputsk (New Sorvun). PUT (5): Sovereign Liberties (GRA), Ironicness (New Sorvun), Groundisred (Atrigeas), Constantin (Atrigeas), Campinia (TRR). Did Not Vote (13): Scoochi2 (Antarctica), Wopruthien (Fidelia), Battlion (Atlantis), Lemurian Islands (Atlantis), Wibblefeet (00000 AWP), Masaries (Gay), Sempans (Gay), Elessar Nenharma (GRA), Wabbitslayah (Jethnea), Northern Chittowa (NP), Lemmingtopias (NP), Nelsonation (TUF), Nibu (TK). ![]() Azerzia celebrates his narrow victory. Speaker of the Assembly The Speaker of the Assembly position was another contested election, between the incumbent Ironicness, Nelsonation, and Christian Democrats. Ironicness won the election in a landslide, with 10 votes against Nelson and CD's 1 vote a piece. However, incumbent Arch-Chancellor Karputsk accidentally deleted the thread after the election and the castors of the ballots were lost permanently. Chief of Defence The Chief of Defence election was an uncontested election and was only the confirmation of lone candidate Frattastan. Frattastan was confirmed with 11 recorded votes in favour, 1 recorded abstention. Frattastan (11): Drop Your Pants (Jethnea), Flowering Staplers (LA), Falconias (LA), Wabbitslayah (Jethnea), Ironicness (New Sorvun), Campinia (TRR), Tim (SFBA), Christian Democrats (TRR), Groundisred (Atrigeas), Constantin (Atrigeas). Present (1): Karputsk (New Sorvun). Did Not Vote (13): Scoochi2 (Antarctica), Wopruthien (Fidelia), Battlion (Atlantis), Lemurian Islands (Atlantis), Wibblefeet (00000 AWP), Masaries (Gay), Sempans (Gay), Elessar Nenharma (GRA), Northern Chittowa (NP), Lemmingtopias (NP), Nelsonation (TUF), Nibu (TK), Sovereign Liberties (GRA). ![]() Frattastan's reaction upon finding out he had won. Minister of Intelligence The Minister of Intelligence election was also uncontested, with Karputsk stepping back from the AC to take a less taxing responsibility. Karputsk was confirmed with 9 votes against 1 recorded abstention. Karputsk (9): Drop Your Pants (Jethnea), Flowering Staplers (LA), Falconias (LA), Wabbitslayah (Jethnea), Ironicness (New Sorvun), Campinia (TRR), Tim (SFBA), Christian Democrats (TRR), Groundisred (Atrigeas). Present (1): Constantin (Atrigeas). Did Not Vote (14): Scoochi2 (Antarctica), Battlion (Atlantis), Lemurian Islands (Atlantis), Wibblefeet (00000 AWP), Wopruthien (Fidelia), Masaries (Gay), Sempans (Gay), Elessar Nenharma (GRA), Northern Chittowa (NP), Lemmingtopias (NP), Nelsonation (TUF), Nibu (TK), Sovereign Liberties (GRA), Karputsk (New Sorvun). Arch-Chancellor The Arch-Chancellor was the hottest ballot in this year's election, and also the most controversial. With Karputsk stepping back and Wopruthien and Frattastan declining to return to the AC role, three candidates stepped up: Falconias, Sovereign Liberties and Flowering Staplers. A number of votes were altered over the course of the vote, including one vote that was altered after the election concluded, which nullified the ballot completely. The election triggered an extensive debate on voting ethics and the voting system, a debate which is still in front of the Regional Assembly. Falconias won the election by a narrow margin, 5 votes to Sovereign Liberties' 4 and Flowering Staplers' 3. Falconias (5): Flowering Staplers (LA), Karputsk (New Sorvun), Campinia (TRR), Tim (SFBA), Christian Democrats (TRR). Sovereign Liberties (4): Ironicness (New Sorvun), Sovereign Liberties*1 (GRA), Elessar Nenharma*2 (GRA), Groundisred (Atrigeas). Flowering Staplers (3): Drop Your Pants (Jethnea), Wabbitslayah (Jethnea), Wopruthien*3 (Fidelia), Discarded Votes (2): Constantin*4 (Atrigeas), Falconias*5 (LA). Did Not Vote (10): Scoochi2 (Antarctica), Battlion (Atlantis), Lemurian Islands (Atlantis), Wibblefeet (00000 AWP), Masaries (Gay), Sempans (Gay), Northern Chittowa (NP), Lemmingtopias (NP), Nelsonation (TUF), Nibu (TK). *1 - Sovereign Liberties's first vote was for Flowering Staplers, later changed to Sovereign Liberties. *2 - Elessar Nenharma's first vote was for Flowering Staplers, later changed to Sovereign Liberties. *3 - Wopruthien's first vote was for Falconias, later changed to Flowering Staplers. *4 - Constantin's vote was for Falconias, however the post was edited to show a vote for Sovereign Liberties after the election period concluded. Thus, the vote was discounted entirely. *5 - Falconias voted for "abstain". Falconias, unsure if it was safe to come out yet. ** STATEMENT re: OSIRIS ** Member region Soviet Union was invaded by Osiris last week, and the following statement was issued by Arch-Chancellor Falconias, condemning the deplorable actions by the massive sinker:
Cormac has since apologized to his fellow members of Osiris for the invasion, admitting it put the stability of Osiris in jeopardy:
Regardless, as noted in our official statement last week, the FRA will still not be providing military support to Osiris until we are granted a sincere apology directly by Detective Figs. ** UPDATE re: UIAF-FRA SUMMIT ** As mentioned in an address from Arch-Chancellor Falconias a few weeks ago, the United Imperial Armed Forces (UIAF) and the FRA have laid down their arms and agreed to a conference to discuss a wide variety of issues, the main two being the years-old war that the UIAF has waged on the FRA, and the security of game-created regions in light of the recent spike in governmental instability in those regions. As a temporary measure, Falconias and OnderKelkia have agreed to a ceasefire that will see the UIAF no longer send their military forces into FRA membership regions, including Soviet Union where the LKE was required to withdraw from. Conversely, the FRA will not oppose UIAF forces until the summit is completed - either with a treaty proposal to bring back to their respective membership bodies for approval, or if either party sees irreconcilable differences and the summit is ended without further diplomatic relations. Negotiations are on-going in a private forum. The FRA is represented by Arch-Chancellor Falconias, Vice-Chancellor Flowering Staplers, Chief of Defence Frattastan, and Minister of Intelligence Karputsk. The UIAF is represented by Commander Christopher Bishop and Associate Commanders OnderKelkia, North East Somerset and Charles Cerebella. ** CURRENTLY BEFORE THE RA ** The Regional Assembly is currently debating two hotly contested issues - changes to the current voting system, and the removal of the Soviet Union from the FRA. Arch-Chancellor Falconias proposed a change to the voting system that would see votes submitted privately so that a running tally was not available until after the election; and then once the election ended, the list of voters and who they voted for would be posted publicly. This was opposed by several members, who instead suggested that vote-editing was the root cause of the problems in the voting system and recommended that the ability to edit posts just be removed from the election forum. Removal of the Soviet Union was a proposal made before the invasion, but with the invasion of the region, removal has been tabled until the region can be stabilised. Efforts to contact the founder proved fruitless thus far, though Drop Your Pants, a native of the region, has offered to help rebuild the region and in the interim has passworded the region and safeguarded it from invasion. ** IN DEFENCE OF NATIONSTATES ** One of Falconias's election agenda items, In Defence of NationStates, a proposed elite defender-centrist region, has been started in earnest and has gathered a small number of highly active nations that may prove to be future valuable NationStates players. The region is far from influential, but with 57 nations at the time of writing (including 15 WA nations) - there is definitely some potential to be had here. IDNS will be holding elections in the coming weeks and we encourage anyone interested in getting involved with this project to contact Arch-Chancellor Falconias. IDNS will officially apply to become the next member of the Founderless Regions Alliance after the election, and will serve as the "face" region of the FRA military. ******* That's all from us! Contact us if you have questions, concerns or comments. Regards, Arch-Chancellor Falconias Vice-Chancellor Flowering Staplers Chief of Defence Frattastan Minister of Intelligence Karputsk Regional Liaison Officer Azerzia Speaker of the Assembly Ironicness |
