Time Stamp 77 ABY - Month One - Day 6 Morning Offices of Blyrt Morkath Vice League Headquarters Bothawui Chief Enforcer Morkath exhaled deeply from his darkened muzzle. He had taken to doing so whenever he found himself in an unwanted and stressful situation. This, obviously, being one of those times. He had tried to endure dealing with incompetent foot soldiers for the League, and he had for the most part. His patience was magnanimous among the Chief Enforcers, five of which oversaw the activities on the league on Bothawui. He himself was in line for promotion to League Adjundant of the world, and so he wanted to maintain a reputation for decorum. "Yasmine, you are one of my best foot soldiers, if not the best. You are talented beyond your years." He growled, his jowls set in an even line. He tapped his fingers on the durasteel table before reaching up and straightening the rose tinted glasses on his face. ![]() He exhaled patiently again. "So forgive me when I struggle with the fact that you, of all people, on league time, had relations with a hired smuggler. With a sensitive package undelivered. Do you have any idea how dangerous that is? What if this-this-this Jack fellow took the money, you, and the package and flew off to who knows where? He has enough different identities to slip past a Sith Blockade!" He lectured. He wasn't mad, per-se, far from it, he was and always would be proud of her. He had taken her in, gotten her the best working situation he could find, and personally took her under his wing. He was more concerned for her own safety. Though, as decorum dictated, he could not out right express his thoughts clearly. A veiled lecture seemed like the best way to handle it. Though human females tended to take things differently. He sighed aloud and rubbed his temples, pushing the long braids from the sides of his head and back behind him. "Don't let it happen again. If you want to see... whoever... do it on your time." He could have fired her. |

"I didn't think it would take as long as it did, sir. I never intended to jeopardize my assignment and not deliver the package," Yasmine apologized, rubbing her arm slightly and looking away. She hated it when he was upset with her, but she understood that what she had done was deemed unprofessional by her superior. She frowned as the lecture continued, wishing to be anywhere but here. "I know, sir, I know. But he didn't take the money, package, or me anywhere so there's nothing to concern yourself with. Well-- he took the money, that was the agreement--- anyway," she trailed off, realizing she was just talking herself in circles. "Dorian wouldn't hurt a fly, it's not in his nature. "I did deliver the package, albeit a bit late, yes, but it got done. You can still trust me, sir. I won't make the same mistake twice." Yasmine knew that what he was saying had some truth behind it, otherwise he wouldn't be wasting either of their time. She reflected back on her night that she had spent with Jack, and with a small smile decided that it was worth the earful she was being given. |

For a moment he sat there, examining her through his rose tinted lenses. He had made a habit of wearing them ever since he ended his relationship with his second wife. He had been accused of being so very grim. He honestly wasn't entirely sure if the lenses had any effect, but it did seem to lighten his mood every time he wore them. He credited the placebo effect. "I trust very much you won't," he said as a small smile crossed his lips. "Thats why I'm already giving you another assignment, because I trust you and your work." He didn't wait for her to respond. Rising to his feet he stepped over to a cabinet behind his desk. From under his long snout he procured a key that hung from a silk rope around his neck. He slipped it off and opened the cabinet, procuring a small holo-projector about the size of a tennis ball. Returning to his desk he slid a data card directly into it and tapped a button on the side. Abruptly a holoprojection of a pair of mandalorians wearing their signature armor appears above the sphere. One of the men takes his helmet off, revealing a ruggedly handsome man with bright red hair and several deep scars on his face. The bothan looks up at his protoge. "This is Cyrus Malone, he's a rogue Mandalorian who has been plaguing a few of our best dealers on bothawui for the past month. We recently got a report that he was in this very city. Initially we were going to put a hit out on him... "But-- instead we're going to offer him a better deal than the one his current employers are giving him. The details are on this data card," He places a second data card on the table and pushes it toward her. "He's agreed to meet with one of our representatives. You." |

"Cyrus Malone, huh?" Yasmine inspected the image of the man very carefully, "He's certainly easy on the eyes," she snickered to herself, then continued to listen to the directions for her assignment. She reached for the data card and looked it over, sliding it into her breast pocket. "So you've already made contact with this guy? What did you have to say to get him to even meet with me?" the woman asked, eyes narrowing slightly. What she really wanted to know was what they had signed her up for. "When's the meeting?" |

Blyrt sat quietly for a moment, he shifted uncomfortably in his seat as she spoke to him. He leaned forward and looked up at her with a serious look in his eyes."What I had to do was contact him. He appears to be eager enough to change sides, but isn't willing to come to our offices publicly," he said, trying to avoid the topic as much as possible. He hesitated for a moment at her request. His mind elsewhere. "What? OH, Yes!" He flipped hurriedly through information on his datapad. "Tonight, dinner, six o'clock planetary time, the Ruby Cavern. Its a restaurant down on the north end of the capital. Nice place," he mused, stroking his chin. Edited by Hobro, Jan 10 2014, 09:43 PM.

Yasmine opened her mouth to agree to meet with the Mandalorian when she noticed that her superior hesitated in his speech. Her eyes narrowed and she leaned forward in her chair, "Woah, hold up there, Morkath-- what aren't you telling me?" she pressed, pointing a finger at him for a brief moment before dropping it down to the top of his desk. "I think I have a right to know all of the details before I head out and meet this man." The young woman fidgeted nervously in her seat and shifted her weight. Something just didn't sit right with her, but she couldn't put her finger on it no matter how hard she tried. The more she thought about it, she could swear that her head was starting to ache. She tried desperately to push the thoughts from her mind and just focus on what was being discussed at the present moment. "You know I can't afford dinner at the Ruby Cavern, sir... Will this be added to my debt?" |

"You were asked for specifically by my higher ups..." he carefully admitted, looking away from her for a moment. He gripped his shirt tightly as he did, he didn't like this situation. It smelled rotten, but he had his orders and the foundation did not look favorably on fudging a missions parameters. The Vice League was all about precision, one of the things that had attracted him to it. Yet here he was, half tempted to tell the specific agent tasked with an assignment to drop the subject. He exhaled through his nostrils. "They were very specific. Even as far as saying that when you returned your debts would be slashed," he continued, gesturing to a folder on his desk. "The paperwork to absolve you of half of your debt to the foundation is right there, "As for paying for the Ruby Cavern. Its a business expense." He looked down at his desk. "I don't like this either Yasmine. You have your orders. You can either follow them, or become a fugitive yourself, thats the way it works in the foundation. You know that better than anyone." |

"I'm honored the higher ups have that much faith in my work," she muttered half sarcastically, sensing the discomfort radiating from the bothan. Yasmine knew something wasn't quite right, though she still couldn't put her finger on it no matter how hard she tried. The sense of dread only became stronger as her boss brought the folder out and made his offer to slash her debt to the Foundation in half. "You're joking, right? The Foundation is honestly willing to slash my debts just for this one meeting?" Her eyes narrowed slightly as she reached for the folder and looked inside. There it was, written plain as day. She couldn't deny the legitimacy of the black ink on paper with the offer, complete with the Foundation's seal. This really was a mission straight from the higher ups directly to her. Morkath's last few statements snapped her out of her stupor, bringing her back to the reality of still being in his office. She shook her head and stood up, "No sir, I'll get this done. You have my word on it." |

The Bothan nodded quietly, gazing at her through his tinted glasses. He retrieved the document from her after she had finished perusing it and placed it back on his desk. She would sign it once the job was done. He leaned back in his chair. "I know you'll handle this well, go ahead and review the details of the deal while you're on your way, theres a Togruta named Diantha waiting outside my office. She'll provide you with a change of clothes." He looked down at the folder again. He couldn't help but feel there was something bigger going on here. He needed to know what it was, why she was involved and why the higher ups insisted on her. She was his protoge, whether she knew it or not, and he'd protect his investment. "Eventually I'm going to retire from all this business, Yasmine. It exhausts me." |

Yasmine laughed at Blyrt's last statement, then sighed with a shake of her head. "Sir, I don't see you retiring from this," she gave a sad smile, "We're both too far into this business to ever just walk away," she turned to leave, eyeing the folder again once more before putting her hand on the door handle. "One day though, sir... one day we'll be done with this." And with that, she turned the handle and walked out of the office, feeling both a sense of accomplishment and utter defeat as the door behind her swung shut. Now wasn't the time to feel sorry for herself though; she would have plenty of time for that after she was done meeting this Mandalorian for dinner. For now, she had to find Diantha and get ready for whatever was ahead. |
