Amongst the neon twists and curves of the Cosmo Waves, a lone figure strolled along. Making his way to a designated point in the area was none other than Shin, walking the trail down the supposed scenic route, rather than taking flight and descending upon his destination with more haste. Instead he waltzed casually towards the predetermined meeting point, holding a bit of mental conversation all the while. "Well this'll be it, the first of great powers to be attained. From Angus no less however, now that's a surprise."

"Yes well, I'm positive about what I know. There were witnesses when he first attained it himself from the custody of a young boy, and afterward, well you can guess what the black haired kid ended up doing."

"Lost, gave up in five minutes, something of that sort. Do the details matter? At the least I think I can perform just a bit better than some inexperienced kid. And Daisuke for sure."
"Dammit Yuu, don't get cocky. Cool it and we'll do this right. You know damn well-"

"Right right, I get it..." Shin mumbled to himself as mind drifted elsewhere, not because of the lecture that awaited his attention within, but because he was nearing the meeting place, and with his time taken slowly, Defender had already been in place for who knows how long. The hand he had raised to attempt dismissing Manami's rambling turned to a friendly wave to his fellow officer.

Coming to a stop in the center of a fairly large circular area on the roads, Shin folded his arms rather comfortably as he stood before Defender with a barely noticeable smile on his face. Tilting his head ever slightly to his right, Shin opened conversations with his friend, though he'd hoped words between them would be few and fast before the main event begun. "Well it's uh, nice to see you again. I didn't really think you'd be the one giving explanations the next time but... well go ahead."

Defender had only gotten to the meeting spots a few moments before Shin had shown up. He waved back to Shin, retunring the greeting. "Ya nice to see you again as well." Oh he could tell. From the look on his face, to the look of desire within his eyes, Defender could tell why he had been called here. Shin wanted the Shinobi Star, and he wanted it bad. That was how he found it Angus had it. 'Wonder how exactly he managed to find out it was in my possession, let alone from who I got it and fought for it from?'

"Now to my explaining. And I know exactly the item you mentioned in your email" Defender began, looking Shin dead in the eye. "The Shuriken artifact and it's two siblings are sources of immense power. When used they can grant the user immense power." He turned his head, looking at the Earth. "But sometimes things don't always go for the best. I've seen and heard of the spirits within the artifacts going mad, causing their users to lose control of themselves and their conversion, causing trouble, pain and chaos for those around them." He shuddered as he remembered the events on Dream Island, the out of control Shinobi-controlled boy, and his near death experience.

He carried on, his voice portraying none of the inner grief he felt. "Others desire the artifacts power for themselves, abusing it for their own needs. Worse, if the objects are brought together their power increases even more, becoming dangerously powerful and harder to stop." His thoughts turned to the Tribe King, whom had been so hard to defeat, let alone hit, and how a single attack had taken out Gibson. Underneath the helmet and mask, a tear ran down the side of his face. "One such being murdered my friend with the power of this Star and the other two artifacts. Another had gone out of control mere weeks before that day with the power of that same star and would have killed both of us then if it hadn't been for the intervention of other beings."

Defender looked back at Shin. "I can see it on your face, the lust in your eyes. You want that power for yourself. I don't know if it's for noble purposes or not, but I'm afraid I can't let you have it. After what I've been through, I'd prefer the Star stay with me, where I can rest easy knowing I won't be on the receiving end of a star from it's power as well as avoid others being targetted for it." He had a feeling that Shin had other plans for the Shinobi though...

Shin had listen ever closely to to each word, and every involuntary gesture and mild fidget that accompanied them. Through it all he discerned bits a pieces to fit together parts of Angus' past. Not a happy one at all, but Vann was still all but incapable of pity or sympathy for him. And his objective was not altered by those words. Manami reassured him of his doubts and even lack there of, and Vann outstretched his hand to wave a single finger about rapidly in an odd manor.

While his tone would seem to most a bit condescending, Shin meant only to inform Defender of his thoughts and intentions, and perhaps forge onwards in the inevitable encounter. "You need not read me the encyclopedia article on artifacts, I've done that myself. But do not be mistaken. It is not lust you see, it is a simple request to hold in my hands what it is I need to have, what I need to accomplish my goals and to do my definition of right. That may sounds lustful to you, but I assure you it's not quite so simple."

Shin was well aware of the determination in Defender's eyes, the same that had allowed him to, apparently, ruthlessly combat two boys to avoid losing it. But if there was one thing Vann had picked up from Vancell, it was the necessity of fighting spirit and the will to win. He let out a sigh as he refolded his arms once more "Look, Defender, I can comprehend losing loved ones and going through pain and suffering. But you know me well enough. I'm not going to go around wrecking society or hurting little boys."

"That said, I think there may yet be lust about us. I can see your determination, how much you want it. But perhaps that itself is lust, even selfish perhaps. You want to try and shoulder it by yourself but you're just trying to hide it away, and hide from your fears in doing so. Me, I stand here to put and end to that for the both of us, and that will happen one of two ways."

Defender listened to Shin speak, drifting into thought about the Shinobi Star and what he should do with it after all as Vann began to talk about his plans for it. He tuned back in as he went on about knowing his pain and trying to shoulder the burden he had. 'Maybe I should give it to him?' he thought.

'You do realise he's going to go after his brother with it, not fully understanding the spirit within the OOPArt. You'd be playing into Takeshi's hands and one of the very scenarios you outlined earlier.' And with that simple statement from Colossus, Angus became angry.

Defender looked at Shin, the metallic face failing to show the horror on the boy's face underneath. He had been thinking of giving it to Vann, but now that chance was COMPLETELY GONE "The last thing I want for the artifact is for it to be anywhere near your psycho brother!" Defender yelled furiously. He had been laying low for a while since after the incident at the Echo Ridge park, avoiding contact with Vann for that very reason. To keep Takeshi off his back, and especially now.

He put his hands to his head and turned around for a moment, before turning back and began to poke Shin in the chest hard, anger building up within him. "One moment ago I was thinking of giving it to you in fact. But now you've gone and completely blown that chance!" he yelled furiously, "Why the hell do you think I've been laying low for so long?! Avoiding contact with you and Daisuke!? TO KEEP HIM OFF MY BACK AND MAY'S AS WELL."

"With the Star in my possession I know damn well that's not going to last long, but as long as I have it then he won't have it. Something both May and myself know is a better thing than it floating around with those that don't know how to properly use it." He slammed his right foot into the ground, causing sparks to fly from his armour in that area. "And you think you can just take the star and waltz up to Takeshi and use it's power to take him down!? You have no bloody idea about the spirit within the artifact do you!"

"The spirit within the Star is the Shinobi Tribe, and it isn't going to let you use it's full power! If you had just taken it and gone up to Takeshi HE WOULD HAVE MASSACRED YOU AND TAKEN IT HIMSELF." As if to emphasis his point, his slammed a closed fist into the palm of another, metal screeching as it grinded and collided together. "The OOPArt tests the holder before it is willing to let you use it's full power. It's something I found out fighting Daisuke, and it's something the boy I took it from found out the hard way. It's very testing would have gotten you killed! Imagine attacks piercing every defence you can throw up, weapons causing you more harm than before, and worse, only being able to move at a much slower speed than you can now!"

He turned his back on Shin and began to walk away. "It's obvious you don't know the full extent of the artifact or it's spirit, and your letting your desire to get at your brother oblivious to anything else. I've lost all confidence in being able to trust you with it now, and I sure as hell don't want Takeshi getting it. Now see you later."

Shin was stunned for a moment by Defender's words, for too many reasons. The elevated tone and emotion, the complete disregard of his words, making assumptions of things he couldn't possibly know, his mind was boggled by it all. Defender would have waltzed right on off if it hadn't been for Manami's swift pinch to the cheek, metaphorically. "YUU! Snap out of it already, you can't just let him walk off! If he's wrong then prove him so, you can't let this continue. Stop him!"

"HOLD IT!!"

Shin stood tall as he pointed furiously in the direction of Defender's intended escape route, his feet planted firmly and loudly. His body was turned to face to the side, his voice boomed loudly through the lack of air as he intended to halt Defender. His voice began at a much lower tone as he spoke up once more, increasing slowly over the duration of his counter rant of sorts. "Just who in the hell do you think you are? Better yet, just who in the hell do you think I am!? I'll tell you this much, I'm not someone you can just disregard, and damn well not someone to be underestimated. Don't underestimate me! I don't care about piercing or slowness or damage increasing whatevers, I don't give a damn about that! Forcing my way down a path I choose to take and doing it by my own power! That's the way I roll! You've no idea what I'll do with it first, second, third and so on."

"I'm not just letting you walk off with it, that is for damn sure. All you're doing its just what I said, running, trying to escape your fears. Where do think I've been for the longest time? Public, out and about and looks what's happened so far. Protect is one thing sure, but I'm not letting you be so wasteful over some petty paranoia and cowardice."

Shin began to walk slowly towards Defender with his arms fisted at his sides, and an enraged look beginning to form about his face. His fists along with many other muscles in his body only tightened as he drew closer, and loosed his throat just a bit so that word might continue to flow. "You will not leave with it as long as I have the power to stop you. You think you can just take it and run and everything will be ok but it won't, that is what I will now fight for. If you think I'm wrong then I dare you to prove me so if you can, but don't you dare run dammit, don't you dare."

Shin's words worked, causing Defender to stop where he was, but he didn't turn around. From behind, one could see his shoulders moving up and down, and could hear him laughing. "Who do I think you are? At the moment, someone I can't trust with the possession of the Shuriken thats who, who continues to prove it with each and every word that rolls off the tip of your tongue, failing to realise you make it harder for yourself each moment that passes." He shot back sarcastically.

Then he stopped laughing, his voice dead serious. "And who do I think I am? I think of myself as many things. The only person someone has left in her life, a good friend to others, one of the few that remembers one that passed away, among other things. Currently, I also think of myself as the guardian of the Shuriken artificat, making sure it makes it into the hands of those whom won't misuse it and understand it's power."

His body began to glow, a long metallic scarf appearing around his neck, and a large heart emblem carved over his chest as Colossus activated his ability waves and the Noise Program. As soon as it was finished, he whirled around on the spot, facing Shin whom was almost within punching range. "And I feel the need to continue that duty." With that a gatling gun came to his left arm and in a heartbeat was aimed and being fired at Shin. "If you want the Shuriken and the power of our tribe then prove yourself!" However the voice that issued that challenge wasn't the voice of Angus or Colossus, but the spirit of the Shinobi which had appeared in a green aura around Defender, waiting for the moment it's power would be unleashed.

Witih Defender's armour, the conductors slowly began to build up an electrical charge, preparing to give Shin a nasty surprise.

Shin was expecting an attack, that was for sure, but such a swift Gatling attack was not the first thing on his mind. Shin was still very much prepared to throw up a shield, but that only absorbed and returned two shots of it. He would have to get on the move quickly, with the Gatling following him no doubt. While one shot went past the shield's location and another barley missed him as he took off around Defender and slid right over the icy floor around him, Shin's speed wasn't quite a match for bullets, and the last of the shots punctured his leg as he came to a stop.

Standing before Defender and leaning to one side, Shin couldn't contain all of his laughter as he chuckled in the face of danger. "Hahaha... duty huh? And you're in complete control of it yourself huh? Well I consider myself to have a duty it help the few ones that I choose to call friends, and if you need sense knocked into you I'll be happy to oblige."

Combining six blades quickly above his head, Shin grabbed the newly formed blade and swept it across the very near him Defender's position, covering an intimidating area across his midsection. His swordsmanship was polished, and the slash of the blade flowed gracefully back into a defensive stance.

Defender had taken his last chance to catch Shin off guard. At least some homework was done, and Shin was well aware of the Shinobi's trickery and cunning, while in or out of use. He was not as ignorant and foolish as Defender seemed to think. Shin's guard and wits were to be kept up at all times. No more useless chatter and senseless shouting. His best current advantage was his immunity to the icy panels at his feet, and the varying cracks and holes behind Defender.

Seeing the shield before him seemingly absorb his shots, Defender could do little to avoid the resulting attack. However, he just barely managed to stay on his feet, managing to regain his balance as Shin came around once again.

Then Shin was before him, mocking and questioning whether he was still in control of his own body or not. Defender was already backing up when the blade formed above his head, but instead of blocking or leaping out of the way, he dove under the slice at his midsection, using the ice panel Shin was on to propel him under his foe and sweep his legs from under him, unleashing the charge built up within his armour, creating an electric maelstorm while he was under Shin. His momentum carried him to a null panel 2 meters away, allowing him to stop.

He was up and moving before the maelstorm was even over, firing the gatling gun as he moved carefully among the various panels, trying to catch an off guard Shin with the bullets. "I think you're the one that needs some sense knocked into him!" He really wasn't happy about Shin's obsession with the OOPArt, knowing well he wouldn't leave until he had it or was close to being knocked out of the conversion. As a result, Defender was going to have to do just that.

As Defender took off sliding beneath him, Shin's plan was already set. A LuPelvis emerged in the distance away from the two combating warriors before Defender could set off his electric charges, aka his signature move in his own eyes. But Shin wasn't just taking defense, he would be vicious on offense. As Defender slid under him, Shin lowered one knee as a small bolt of lightning slipped out of his already floating foot and tagged Defender, in hopes of immobilizing him through the end of his slide.

Ignoring the torrent of lightning about him as if it were a light breeze or a slow drizzle, Shin ran onwards to Defender's position with haste and his arms straightened behind him. When he reached the hopefully immobilized Defender, Shin took up footing and punched him at full force, aiming for his gut with the intention of sending him flying a good few meters away from the precious null panel below him.

Shin moved over closer to the LuPelvis in hopes of defending it during it's time of need. For Shin, playtime was over, and he wouldn't tolerate anymore of Defender's "That's wrong, I'm right" attitude that Vann perceived through his lingering rage. He was determined to take down Defender, and he wouldn't allow him to act as a barrier between himself and the shuriken, nor would he be talked down to an any way.

Defender was sliding at a fast rate, but not fast enough to dodge the lightning. As the lightning neared it's target, it almost seemed like Defender would be hit and seemingly turn the tide of the battle....

...right up until the moment he disappeared in a cloud of leaves. A moment later he appeared in front of Shin, completely different. His armour had turned green with red hightlights, the scarft around his neck becoming metallic and red, a golden shuriken star on his forehead. He quickly slashed at Shin with a shinai as he reappeared. Immediately afterwards he leapt to the side, flinging an accurate flurry of shinobi stars at the Lu Pelvis, intent on ending it's life. He began to leap away from Shin, trying to change the flow of the battle from being close ranged.

He aimed the gatling gun at Shin again, firing off rounds at Shin while jumping from panel to panel. As the gun became silenced, he was a distance away, well over 5 meters, sitting on top of a grass panel, recovering from the earlier hit.

Shin's follow up plan to use his trust Stun knuckle was thwarted by the emergence of the Shinobi form. That which he had come for had finally appeared before him, and he would not let it escape. While his opponent disappeared, Shin already knew what to expect and the cloud of leaves only proved it. What do all ninja's do? Disappear and appear right back again, with weapons. Shin quickly moved to the side as Defender reappeared with a shinai in his hand, following him has he leapt to the side, no doubt to target the LuPelvis.

While the first shuriken was too quick for him to intercept, Shin took the other two to a pair of folded arms at his chest for the sake of the LuPelvis. The first shuriken must have been thrown off by the ice Defender had stepped on after reappearing, for it missed the LuPelvis if only by a hair.

Shin took notice of Defender's flee to the grass panel in the direction he was heading, and gave him another tip of lighting for a sting along the way. Next he gave chase, ignoring the various panels his opponent was forced to jump around. This back and forth hopping pattern made the Gatling gun bullets a bit more spaced out, and made them simpler for Shin to dodge each one as it came.

Nearing Defender, Shin stopped just under 3m short of his position as he slapped down a Black Hole at Defender's feet, negating the minute healing effect of the grass panel Defender had found. Shin conjured a wall of lighting that was intended to just scrap Defender's back, preventing any backwards retreat for at least a few moments.

Before either could make another move though, the battle took an unexpected turn. The Lu Pelvis began to sing, only to be suddenly blasted to fragments from a barrage of spheres and lasers from above. 2 large dark spheres also came from above, one slamming into each combatants chest, forcing each into an awaiting claw of darkness, which promptly grabbed each combatant, trapping their arms to their sides in it's grip.

The arms raised both of them up to a higher wave road, where the arms were originating from another being. This being had armour like Defender, however it was the complete opposite. It seemed a mix of metal and some organic material, and was blocky and jagged at points. And unlike Defender, her face was currently uncovered, showing a radiant pair of blue eyes on a familiar face that Defender recognized in a heart beat.

"Uh oh...." he muttered, not even trying to fight off the claws now. When May did something like this, she usually wasn't very happy. From the look on her face, he could also tell she had most likely seen and heard anything.

She shot a Defender a dirty look, silently mouthing the sentence, 'Don't you dare say another word'. She looked at Shin too, sarcastically saing in a dry tone, "Though you would have been taller in person."

She looked back and forth between the two once more beforing letting out a sigh, clearly disappointed in her friend and the person whom was supposed to be his friend. "You two act like a bunch of 5 year olds fighting over a silly toy you know that? So focused over it you fail to notice anything else." She shook her head. "Now, I've been standing here the whole time, unnoticed as I followed Defender here, and I've seen several other shady beings show up and leave so I suggest we make this brief."

She looked at Defender, whom was still caught in the claw, glaring at him. "I know damn well you won't do anything stupid, and if you do I won't hesitate to apply a little pressure AND take that stupid artifact." Defender sighed, defeated, silently nodding his head at May's demands, knowing she would follow up with them. As if to make sure, a grunt of pain was heard as May increased the pressure for a moment.

Then she tuned to Shin, whom was also trapped another claw a little above her. "As for you. I thought highly of you based on what Angus told me about you. But after seeing that entire argument and resulting fight I'm beginning to question who really is the 'bad' apple of you two. Try anything and I'm going to smash your head off of his helmet until you see more stars."

"Now, I'm going to put both of you down in a moment, and we are going to talk this out like regular people. And if either of you can't even do that without letting your desire to be 'the bigger man' get to your head then I'm not going to put you down. I know Defender can do that but I don't know about you."

She paused for a moment, realising she was forgetting something. "Oh right, in this form my name is Atrus, and my real name is May Youth."

Shin was a lot less stunned by his sudden immobilization and a rude interruption to his battle, and a hell of a lot more enraged. Anyone that was interfering in their fight had no place doing so, and Shin had no intention of letting them do so. But he was unable to release himself from the undying, iron grip of the chains that bound him. Rather than waste his time struggling for freedom, Shin allowed himself to be carried upwards and brought to the source of it all.

Manami was already at it, though rather than a rampant lecture she this time provided soothing words to quell any undesirable umbrage. The two of them could already tell the battle was just about over, and unnecessary resentment or grudges would do him no good. Vann's personality revolved around being cool about all thing, passion wasn't his preference. Things like that got in his way in battle, got int the way of his most basic logic process, and would surely do him no good with the newcomer the held him in it's hand.

Reaching his apparent destination, Shin was greeted by a young woman in Wave Conversion, glaring heavily with a pair of blue eyes that were clearly meant to intimidate his own. Without warning he was on the receiving end of another rant, as was Defender. Furious was this one with her command of the situation, mocking his height to his actions, going on about how she'd seen it all and threatening him with decapitation should he not submit to her almighty rule.

It didn't take long to put two and two together for Shin. Defender's lack or surprise, that low toned "Uh oh," his immediate submission after seeing the girl's face... Vann knew what was going on before it was said. Judging on their understanding of one another, this was no doubt one of Defender's 'close ones' he'd been so concerned about.

Shin wasn't all to happy none the less about He felt he had received and undue majority of the blame for the whole ordeal, which he felt should be more equally shared. But of course the bias of friendship was a powerful one, and something Vann had spent much of his life avoiding. He did however throw away any intentions of fighting any further. No doubt they would band together against him, and that wasn't a preferable scenario for Shin. Two on one would assure his defeat, wouldn't it?

Then is hit him. None to long after Atrus uttered her words about shady beings, did Shin catch on. He was here. He knew it for certain with every fiber of him being, and each of those fibers tensed immensely. Maybe it was that damned so called twin telepathy or whatever, but he knew it. Before he could make a dead give away of his sudden realization Manami interjected his thoughts and consequently his actions. "Yuu, snap out of it already. Cool it and don't give it away, the last thing we need is these two panicking. Operate yourself, and control the situation. Don't slip out of sanity now."

Realizing the mistake he was about to make, Shin refrained from any sudden movements, and the indifferent look the masked his displeasure before was replaced by an honest smile. Slim and short, but a smile none the less. He realized the safety the presence of the other two granted them all at the moment, even worse than a 2 on 1 was a 3 on 1. Should he choose to emerge, Shin would be more than happy to dispense a swift beat down of sorts, and something told him the other two would have no issue assisting.

Shin returned his mind to the situation at hand as he was greeted with a casual introduction after a distasteful rant. There was naught else to do than return the favor in the most indifferent tone possible. "Ah, well... it's good to meet you. M'name's Shin, Shin Hejin. Should we encounter elsewhere you May call me Vannaoto Namihane."

At the time he wanted to scratch his head nonchalantly or at least be able to fold his arms. But none of this was possible up high and held down. Instead he attempted to reassure the girl of his good intentions and understanding, in hopes of a peaceful solution. Freeing himself was no problem with the half dozen blades floating around freely behind him, but Shin didn't want to be rude or excite anyone, so he attempted to work his way down verbally. "You've my word I'll not do anything rash or dangerous, or anything of that sort. Moreover you need not worry about any sort of ego issue, 'being the bigger man' was never a legitimate goal for me."

As the last of his word went, Shin looked over to Defender's position so as to evade a bit of May's gaze, whatever it might be. It almost seemed like this was all too familiar to him, something he'd done before. But Shin was bent on not being on the receiving end of this kind of thing again any time soon.

Atrus was listening carefully to Shin, and the emphasis on 'may' didn't escape her. If looks could kill at that moment, Atrus would have ended Shin's life a thousand times at that moment. She showed some restraint in not increasing the grip of the claw. "I really don't appreciate puns on my name, especially right now, so I suggest you stop that now before I do something about it." Her instincts told her something was up, and it may have been the shadow beings she had seen earlier. Could one of them have been him? She dismissed the thought and moved on.

The claws lowered to the ground, gently placing Defender and Shin on the ground before letting them go. "Now then," she stated, her arms crossed as the claws retreated, "Let's get down to business, this time peacefully. Starting with every misconception you two had before the fight started." And with that, she whirled on Defender.

"You first. The fact you assumed Shin should know every detail about the OOPArt is unforgivable. Yes he acted like he knew it all, but you didn't need to lose your temper over it! Yes it may have frusturated you, but even I didn't know about that until you showed me! I also understand you didn't want me brought into this, but in this case you really should have." She placed a hand on his shoulder, looking at him with a look of sadness, "This isn't a burden you alone have to bear. I'm there to help you with that when you need it, and you and I both know that."

Defender could say nothing, breathing in for a moment as if to retort, but instead looked away, obviously ashamed for what he had said and consequently done. In trying to help his closest friend, he had subsequently hurt her, the one thing he didn't want to do. He felt like someone had driven a dagger into his heart and twisted it.

But she wasn't quite done. "What would Gibson say if he could see what just happened now? You fighting a friend over this?"

This caused Defender to look straight at Atrus, his heart stopping cold in it's tracks. He had sought to keep the OOPArt in safe hands, yet what had he done? Beaten a little boy, fight with a friend and resulted in hurting his closest friend! Underneath the helmet, his breathing became ragged as tears rolled down his face, his shoulders shaking in grief. Gibson would have been so disappointed in him. He turned his back to the two, silently thinking about it.

She turned to Shin now, eyes full of anger. "As for you, I'm shocked. Angus described you as someone of a good heart that stood up for his friends and against his brother. Yet my first encounter with you turns out to be the complete opposite."

A small screen popped out in front of her, containing the very email Vann had sent to Angus. This had come straight from Angus' email account, and was the result of old skills from her past she refused to have go rusty and unused. "The fact you dared to say this was GSP business boggles my mind even now. All I see is you trying to get the artifact to satisfy your own desire to exact revenge on your brother." She shook her head. " It's just... how do I say this... It's low and abuse of your status. And from what little I know about your brother exactly something he would do."

But next was the biggest part. "And don't you dare act like you know exactly what myself or Angus has been through. In fact, you don't even know that much about Angus do you?"

She folded her arms as she spoke of his past. "Angus was the single child of two parents. When he was around 12, he and his parents were involved in a car crash. His dad died instantly upon collision, while he and his mother were seriously injured. When the paramedics showed up, she insisted they treated him first before her. As a result, Angus was saved, but his mother died. At the time I was going through personal problems and we weren't as close as we are now. It was the first time someone gave their life to save him, and Angus was alone, no one there to help him or guide him.

Then came Gibson, an FM-ian whom found Angus through his lonliness. He helped Angus overcome his lonliness, acting as a guiding hand and was the equivalent of a second family to him." She looked off into the distance, her tone becoming uneasy, "He was the one whom motivated Angus to join the GSP, despite the fact it would place us in conflict with each other."

"About a year ago, maybe you heard about it, several individuals went crazy, causing massive amounts of destruction and chaos in multiple areas. Angus and Gibson tried to stop one of them, whom was controlled by the Shinobi Tribe. During this encounter they nearly died, but were saved by others. A couple days later, we had to deal with an out of control friend, controlled by another being and had control over the Dino Tribe." She looked at Shin, not even turning her head. "As you can guess, we're pretty sick of having to deal with the OOPArts. Personally, I'd throw it deep into the ocean where it can't be claimed or found, but I doubt I'd be that lucky."

She fully turned this time, looking him dead in the eyes. "Then came the big event. The continent of Mu somehow managed to return, and Angus and Gibson went to see what exactly was going on." A tear came to her eye as she recalled Angus' story. "There they and others met the Tribe King, a being whom abused the power of all three OOPArts for his own benefit. During the battle, Gibson stopped a shuriken empowered by the Shinobi Tribe from hitting Angus, which would kill him. However as a result, Gibson was deleted, making it the second time Angus essentially lost his family. Everything was happening all over again for him." She looked over at Defender, a look of sadness on her face. "That's when he promised himself if he ever got his hands on the Shinobi OOPArt, he would become it's guardian, attempting to prevent it's power from being abused in the memory of his friend."

"That's why when you said you'd be using it to go after your brother, without realising that the OOPArt tests it's possessor before fully giving you it's powers and putting you in a dangerous spot, he became furious with you. He wasn't being selfish nor self centered, he was worried about you and the consequences of Takeshi taking it from you. You know that he's after me to get back at Angus for what happened. He worries day and night about that very fact."

By now, Defender was listening again, realising what May was going to say. "May you don't have to-" But before he could finish a dark claw clamped over his mouth, shutting him up for the moment.

"If you want the truth about his 'cowardly' actions of laying low, then I'll tell you the truth. The only reason he was laying low and avoiding you two was because I suggested it to him after the incident occured at the park. The reason he hasn't been now is because I told him he should practice with Daisuke to fully understand Shinobi, as well make sure Daisuke had improved in combat. He took it a step further by providing him with a Brotherband and new cards." She looked away, a look of guilt coming over her face, "I know because he has the Shinobi Star that Takeshi may eventually come after him, and that I can't continue to force him to lay low while you and Daisuke are risking your life. And for that, I'm sorry."

Behind her, Defender held his head low as May spoke. It was the truth, May had decided that course of action and his desire to protect her had forced him to follow it. He silently nodded his head as she finished, agreeing with everything she said.

But May wasn't quite done. "I understand you want to get back at your brother, so do I and Angus." A voice of calmness heard as she spoke, "However running in without fully understanding everything we have at our disposal and fighting amongst ourselves isn't going to help. I merely ask you respect his wishes and not put your desire above your friendship, so please, leave the Shinobi in his care. I regret forcing him to hide will you and Daisuke risked your lives, as well as hiding the Shinobi, but this is one thing I truly think should be left alone."

Van of Team Dai-Gurren
Shin listened carefully to every word, whether he was supposed to or not. He'd already shared the bulk of his story, though from the way he narrated it all one might suspect he wasn't entirely truthful in it. He had shed not a tear and kept his face and even as could be. There was some death, some loss in his past, but to him none of it was important enough to mention. After all Vann was far from normal, unlike the two that stood before him.

Receiving every word of the story as May told it, and watching every painful expression or suppressed tear about her face. Defender was no happier as his story was told. Every painful detail was indeed embedded in his mind, any yet there was something floating around in his head much more prominently. While he wouldn't be happy to admit it, Shin was more or less waiting for the story's end, so that his piece might be said, and his corrections made.

When that time came, he hardly knew what to say. Where to start, that was always the problem. His attempt at lightening the mood even just a bit had failed terribly. Shin began with just a sigh before picking a randomized starting point. "Alright listen. I can tell you don't have a great understanding of me, and that's to be expected, and truly I'm used to it more than I should be. But here's something you should know: I hate my actions, my thoughts and my intentions being dictated to me. I've had damn well enough of that. You should know this." Shin shifted his head over slightly to where Defender stood, glaring at him briefly before turning his attention and direction back to May. "And you have little right to do just that, telling me what I'm thinking and what I want to or will do. You cannot possibly understand the things that run through my head, no one can. I guess that sounds arrogant but oh well."

Shin stopped for a moment as he covered his face under the blue shaded visor over it, shaking his head just slightly before raising it once more to speak with folded arms. "Look, I don't have any real concept of how friendship is supposed to work. I've said before I've always been the farthest thing from popular. All I can do is do it my way, and that applies to all things I do. Even if the things I do seem immoral or just plain wrong in the eyes of others, I can't afford to worry about all that."

Shin unfolded his right arm and began tapping his temple as he arranged the jumble of thoughts in his mind, or as he considered them, corrections. "Now then specifics... First, yes I called it GSP business. If I'd done otherwise then what would you have done, hm? What would have happened? Nothing, no one would have shown up and nothing would be accomplished and that's unacceptable. You can call it abusing status if you like, but if I did it, I felt the ends would eventually justify the means. I'd like to apologize to you but I can't, I don't. If something I've done needs rectification, I'll do it not say it.

"Which brings me to the next point, or two rather. Please, stop telling me what I'm going to do. Stop saying what blinds me or clouds my view or causes me to make mistakes, because I'm absolutely sure I know that better than you. You keep saying I would just run to Takeshi with it but how the hell do you pin me as that stupid? When have I have said that? Never. If you think I'm going to deliberately run straight to him with it and fight him with a power I've never used before then I'm not the fool here."

Shin put a pleasant smile on his face in contrast to the sadness or rage that previously filled the air. He laid himself back just a bit so as not to seem so tense or stuck up even. He began with a tone that was meant to relay his concern and an attempt at sympathy. "Now, you need not apologize for anything. Perhaps for other reason but more than anything else in my mind, because it's myself to blame. Having to hide and prepare in the first place is due to me. And for that, I will indeed bestow upon you both the ever elusive apology of Vann. I am sorry. However again I will remind you not to make assumptions about what goes on up here."

Shin pointed to his forehead with his right thumb up in the air. His face straightened out and became indifferent, it was the best he could do without seeming terribly too grim. His voice was a bit lower and leveled out, rid of a carefree tone and into a serious one that was meant to be heard and heard well. "Indeed the fault is mine, and I will correct it. To me friends are more than a source of enjoyment and plain and simple companionship. To me they are those for whom I should look out for, those who I shouldn't be causing trouble for of my own actions, and those I whose best interest I should consider over their simple will time to time, much like you've done for me here. For me, I can't allow my friend to walk off into a dangerous world holding that. I'm sorry you feel you must keep it, but you know as well as I do who wants it more than me. And it's my own responsibility to keep it from him, not yours. I refuse to let others be burdened so by my own problems, or to try and solve them for me. This isn't about my desire for power, it's about my responsibility to the one's I've done harm".

May listened quietly to Shin's counter rant, sighing as she listened. 'He really is stubborn...' she thought sadly. She looked at Defender behind her, already feeling bad for what she had done to him now. He looked at her, silently shaking his head before raising his hand, a sign that he wasn't holding it against her. This filled her with relief, as she always hated it when she hit those sensitive spots with Angus.

As Shin finished with his argument, May summed up everything in a short statement. "You know what, yeah I don't know what the hell is going on in that head of yours. I don't know you that well, nor will I ever truly know. We don't know exactly how bad you want back at Takeshi, we don't know this, and we don't know that. That's why I can only go off of what I know."

"However," she said, glaring at Shin, frustration in her voice, "I do know there was no excuse for the GSP garbage you’ve pulled. I know there's no excuse for that high and mighty attitude you've just pulled with me, and I know damn well a friend doesn't start a fight with another friend over a stupid item, especially since you’re supposed to support and help them." She shook her head, "And just like we did to you, you are now doing to us, assuming certain things, this time in terms of responsibility."

She looked at the Earth, head and eyes moving as if she was trying to pinpoint the location of some specific object."The artifact is not your responsibility nor is our safety, I can tell you that much as we can handle ourselves and have been through worse. Even if Angus had never met you, Takeshi would still come after him either way for the artifact. As he said earlier as well, there are two others out there as well, the fiery Dino and the electric Zerker. While you've screwing around , fighting your friend over one that's already safe and wasting our time, Takeshi could be going after the other two, and if he got his hands on the Dino artifact then Ninja isn't going to do us any good and would be a waste of everything that’s happened right now. As I also recall, Takeshi’s coming one way or another, even if you take the star from Defender." She shook her heard. “And I’ve heard rumours that the Sword of the Zerkers’ is out there somewhere in someone’s possession, meaning your brother already has something to go by, while the news of the Skull of the Dino Tribe has been nonexistent.”

She reached into a slot in her armour, pulling out her Brothercard with Juan, which had a yellow sword emblazoned on it. “You see this? That symbol means my Brother is able to Tribe On into Zerker, meaning he may know where the sword is or even-“ Within a moment though, the sword disappeared, leaving a plain standard Brothercard, the power once radiating from it disappearing in a moment. She took in a deep breath as she realised the implications, her face full of shock as she realised it meant the Zerker sword had been under her nose the whole time in safe hands. “If the symbol’s gone then that means... He had the sword the whole time...” ‘But not anymore,’ she thought darkly, fearing for Juan.

This matter took priority in her mind. If she could just hurry and get Defender to come with her, they could find out whom had the Zerker Sword from Juan hopefully. With the elemental advantage of Wood Ninja over Thunder Zerker, if it turned out to be in the wrong hands it would be easy to retrieve, even just for the sole task of hiding it. She ran towards Defender, a dark claw scooping him up before he could get in a word, just sighing loudly like as though he went through this every time she got excited. “I’m sorry Angus but we REALLY need to get a move on, the Zerker Sword has decided to make an appearance and we need to find it now.” The mere mention of the OOPArt was enough to bring Defender out of slump, causing him to become rigid with anticipation. This would be a key OOPArt if Takeshi got his hands on the Dino Skull, they both knew.

As she ran off, she called to Shin. “Nice meeting you, but we have bigger priorities at the moment! Hopefully next time it won’t be under such poor and sudden circumstances!” She left out the Shinobi Star on purpose, silently trying to make Shin realise that two people protecting it and themselves would be fine, also trying to suggest stopping the others from falling into the hands of the wrong people was more important than worrying about the ones that were already safe. ‘That guy has control issues and needs to get his priorities in line, that’s for sure.’ She thought sadly to herself.

In a moment they were gone in a flash of light, as well as the Shinobi Star, off to find the Zerker Sword and it’s new owner. They had pulsed out to the spot they had wave changed on Earth, making it next to impossible for Shin to catch them if he had any objections.

Van of Team Dai-Gurren
As the duo took off and disappeared in short order, Shin could only stand with fists clenched staring into the road. His lack of social skills had been his ultimate downfall once again. That was the reason for it all. He couldn't convince or even communicate properly with people, and it had cost him as it all ways did. Shin had lost track of the misunderstandings long ago, and never would he be given a chance to right them.

"Damn it..." Shin muttered as he went over what he could. He could tell the girl had completely ignored most of what he'd said, that was obvious. She was more concerned with what she had to say than the other party, and that was understandable. But the hypocrisy, that was something else. She'd called him out on trying to sympathize with Defender, then made the ignorant assumption she knew exactly how he felt.

And then she kept on assuming things she shouldn't have despite his warnings not to. Did she think it was a joke, that he was trying so heard to emphasize something? If he'd thought Takeshi would pursue that Dino Rock or the Zerker sword, he damn well would have gone after them. But instead of using logic she'd just taken what she could see and assumed the worst about him. Shin had tried his best to seem friendly, not to talk down to anyone the way he had been, but somehow he's failed and the consequences weren't just a couple of blows to his pride, confidence or self esteem.

He was the one that knew Takeshi, he was the one that fought him. And what is the most important factor in choosing a fighting ability like the power of an OOPart? How you fight. Once he'd heard of the ninja's ability to disappear and reappear, and to be able to throw blindingly fast shuriken at will, he knew who wanted it most. And fighting with it for a short while had only confirmed his suspicions. The Shuriken had given a Defender an edge against him, him. What better could Takeshi ask for?

Then it happened. A loud thump in the distance in front of him rose Shin's head immediately. There in the pathway that Angus and May had stood in just moments ago, he now stood. That dark black, raven haired... pale skinned, red-eyed... demonic, half naked Wave Warrior. There was Takeshi, or rather, Mugen. He stood turned only halfway to the side as he cocked his head further over to address the wide-eyed Shin with a narrow gaze. "Well well well. I say this has been rather informative. Too bad you couldn't handle that little ninja huh? But hey, I think it'll work just fine for me. Anything you want be to tell your friends when I see 'em?"

Shin didn't utter a word as he took off towards Mugen, flying faster than he really ever should. While he readied blades aplenty for an assault, Mugen's intentions were different. "No? Nothing? Allllllright if you say so." Before Shin could reach him Mugen disappeared just as the other two had, leaving his blades to cleave away at the lack of air.

Shin stood still and alone as his feet returned to the wave roads. His fears were proven, and at the moment had no way of fixing them. A swirl of scenarios came to be in his mind. "Sure a 2 on 1 match might be simple, but what if he's more powerful than you think? Or if he's not playing fair? What if he doesn't fight at all? What if he just get's others to do it for him, what if he's using something you can't prevent, what if he's..."

The list went on an on and he knew Takeshi wasn't about to hesitate to do any of them if he got the chance. Shin had no intention letting any harm come to others become a burden on himself, and certainly no intention of giving up on the Shuriken, he would do everything he could to find them again, the only question was where to start.

"Manami, find every spec of info on OOPArts you can in all the miscellaneous corners of the net, and check any and all news for mentions of a large shuriken, an odd or electric sword, and a dinosaur skull." Without a word the wizard went to work, utilizing every byte of her processing abilities to scan every frame of a video and every character of text she could. One way or another Vann wouldn't give up. He pulsed out from the wave road, back to whence he came to embark on another pursuit.
