Hey gang! Some of you may wonder how the trip went. Let me start by saying that there's never a dull moment when you camp with my family friends, and it sure was an eventful week. Before we even left to go camping, our host had a truck breakdown on his way home and arrived six hours late. When we did leave for the lake, it was a nice little drive... by the time we were set up, it was time to turn in for the night. Day two was awesome. The boys - er men - went fishing and caught their limit in two hours, while I cleared an old game on a handheld I brought. We wound up having fried pickerel for supper, some battered with a cajun somethin'. That was great. Turning in for the night turned out to be simple; getting up the next morning was hell on earth. Day three was rainy, and I spent more time bailing the tent than anything else. Huddling under the stupid screentent wasn't my idea of a good time, but they had cookies, so I didn't complain. Day four was a mixed sun/shower day, and the boys went fishing, but catching was out of the picture. Moi, my mom and her friend decided to head off to a town about two hours away for internet access, and that turned out to be a fun trip. The truck was vibrating all the way there. Met an MLA, stocked up on junk food - six pack of 710ml Pepsi was only $2.50 plus tax - and then booked it home, right in time for a shower. Ugh. Day six was spent traveling home; made it as far as Edmonton and spent the night at a hotel where a wild party was in progress. *ugh* Day seven was spent traveling the rest of the way home. So there you have it, that was my trip. |
