Your Information: Time Zone: Central Your Age: 34 Email Address (optional): Assamiteprince@hotmail.com Have you done RP in the past? What Kind? Where? Tabletop, Halsoft Virtual Places, IMVU, ICU, SecondLife, Resurgence. Character Information: Character Name: Akar Duau Sef /"Lion of the Horizon" Symbiote Age: 3.2 K Host Age: 35 Host Race: Abadonian Host Description: See Diarama Affiliations (Please read thread on starting rules about affiliations): Personality: Stoic, Stubborn, Prideful, doesn't work well with others. Backstory: Historical Info : In Egyptian mythology, Aker (also spelt Akar) was one of the earliest gods worshipped, and was the deification of the horizon. There are strong indications that Aker was worshipped before other known Egyptian gods of the earth, such as Geb. As the horizon, Aker was also seen as symbolic of the borders between each day, and so was originally depicted as a narrow strip of land (i.e. a horizon), with heads on either side, facing away from one another, a symbol of borders. These heads were usually those of lions. Over time, the heads became full figures of lions (still facing away from each other), one representing the concept of yesterday (Sef in Egyptian), and the other the concept of tomorrow (Duau in Egyptian). Goa'uld Truth : The goa'uld empires at the height of the System Lords, were kept in line by an elite few, the Ash'rak. Among their ranks, those trained by Ra, the Supreme System Lord, were the pinnacle of deadly efficiency. Stealthy, cunning, trained in more than simple combat, they were trained to blend in, to be anyone. Akar, was one of the few who began their life on Abydos, the host body hardened by manual labor. When Ra discovered Earth, and created the Gate connection to it, Akar was one of the first few thousand of humans transported to Abydos to gather the precious Naquida mineral. Chosen for his size, a good 6', large for the humans of that time, his hair bleached a pale yellow by time in the sun, was swept back from his face like a lion's mane, the resemblance further enhanced by the sideburns that grew down into the jawline beard he kept trimmed as a sign of status. On Earth he had been a hunter, like most men from his tribe, but his prey of choice was the deadly, and extremely large Barbary lion. The Barbary lion is often regarded as the largest and the heaviest of the lion subspecies with estimated weights for males of 190 to 230 kilograms (420 to 510 lb) and for females of 150 to 190 kilograms (330 to 420 lb). Among the nile tribes, it wasn't uncommon for one of these beasts to wade into an unwary village, and carry off a sleeping man. Akar, seeking his mark in the world, wore a young Barbary mane around his shoulders, one of his first kills. When Ra began culling humans for his armies, Akar was chosen for his ferocious appearance, as well as his stamina, making three or even four trips a day in the mines without tiring. Seeking to make something of himself, Akar took advantage of his host's history, and not only returned to Earth before the uprising, but hunted and captured two of the massive Lions. When the uprising came, and the gate on Earth was buried, Akar was stranded with only an Alkesh, his lions, and what supplies he had brought for one of his expeditions between assignments. Little is known of what came of him, or where he went, but his death was never reported, and rumors of his appearance every few centuries, most notably with the same lions, have been ghost stories for many rising Minor Lords.
