This post will have a few examples of generic ICEs you can use to draw inspiration for your own ICEs or just generally see how they're like, etc. The next post will have a list of all ICE names currently in use, if you wanna be unique.

FEU-024 "Explorer"

The backbone of the FEU's forces, the FEU-024 "Explorer" is their mainstay for exploration into outer space and for patrols in the inner rim. Developed early in the FEU's timeline after a few failed prototypes, the Explorer is a versatile, cheap, and efficient unit that is known for its ease of control and clean design.

The Explorer is a blocky, simple looking humanoid ICE built around the standard 13 meters. Like most Federation ICE, the Explorers are primarily white, although individual units can be painted depending on whether or not its pilot has clearance to do so. On its head, there is a triangular visor protecting the mechanism that houses its main camera, and two large thrusters are on its back for speed and maneuverability. Additional armor on its shoulders and hips, shielding important joints that allow the machine's arms and legs to move. The cockpit of the machine is located in the center of the chest. There are several hardpoints on its skeleton onto which different types of weapons or equipment can be attached, from beam rifles to melee weapons to additional armor plating. Other than the customizable hardpoints, Explorers have a typical loadout of a beam rifle, held in the hands, and a beam saber held in a rear sheath.

As an economically built unit, the Explorer is made entirety of Stritium. As such, its speed and armor are average in comparison to most ICEs, but the Explorer really suffers for its low cost in its beam shielding. The Explorer can't take many hits before its defensive field is overloaded, so pilots of these units have to be especially careful in combat. Because Explorers are cheap and the lives of pilots are not, this ICE also has an escape mechanism so the pilot can escape a compromised ICE. The pilot and their cockpit are shot out of the back of the machine in a ball, to be picked up by an ally (or an enemy, if the pilot is so unfortunate.) After escaping, the pilot has at least an hour of oxygen to try and get back onto their ship.

FEU-035 "Warden"

The Warden is an upgraded version of the previous ICE in its lineage: the Explorer. Whereas the Explorer is the ICE used by most of the FEU's advance forces, the Warden was designed for the use of a squad leader in a combat situation. A large number of Wardens are also employed at Bahamut as the moonship's primary defense against enemy attack. As an upgraded version of the Explorer, the Warden retains much of its predecessor's functionality while being more powerful and, more importantly, more expensive to build.

The Warden is built with a humanoid frame much bulkier than that of the Explorer, with more armor plating on the limbs and chest. The head looks very similar, only the Warden has additional sensors on the sides of its face, with antennas coming out of each, and two main cameras beneath its visor to give the pilot a wider view of the battlefield. This feature was omitted from the Explorer for cost reasons, and also gives the Warden the appearance of two glowing eyes beneath the visor. Like the Explorer, the Warden has hardpoints all over its frame for additional equipment to go along with its traditional loadout of a beam rifle and two beam sabers. All Warden units also have a physical sword in a sheath on its side, for both the sake of practicality and appearance. Like most Federation ICE, the Explorers are primarily white, although individual units can be painted depending on whether or not its pilot has clearance to do so.

The base skeleton of the Warden is also built with Stritium, but unlike the Explorer, the Warden uses a titanium alloy for most of its armor plating. This, along with its improved beam shielding, gives it much more durability than the Explorer, although it can be slightly clunkier to move. The Warden also retains the escape mechanism of the Explorer, allowing to pilot to escape combat if things get dangerous.

"Brawler"

The Brawler is an old unit from the great war that was produced en masse, and while the FEU has typically overlooked it in favor of cleaner looking ICE, like its Explorer line, it's favored among space pirates and Voyager crews because it is fast, powerful, and cheap.

Sheer black with silver highlights, the Brawler has a striking, impressive looking silhouette with thick lower arms and legs. Its head has a circular visor - the main camera sits behind it, emitting a bright red light. Like most ICE, the cockpit is in the chest. The torso itself is thin and lightly armored - in fact, most of the suit is, beyond the lower arms and legs. The forearms are large and bulky so as to facilitate the large thruster on the back of the elbow, which help the Brawler to move a bit faster and to give it some surprise maneuverability in close range. The same goes for the lower legs, which have a pair of thrusters on the back. As a non-FEU mobile suit, there is no typical loadout for a brawler, but the ICE itself is well known for its speed and strength in melee combat.

Part of the reason why the Brawler is so cheap, aside from its thin and uneven construction, is the fact that it is made entirely from Stritium. It was also created before the development of beam shielding, which lowers its price and maintenance requirements, but also vastly diminishes the attacks it can take in combat. Most Brawler pilots rely on the machine's speed to get in close, out of the range of beam rifles, or ambush an opponent to get the element of surprise. The Brawler, as it has such a simple, thin frame, is also highly modifiable, making it a favored unit among ship's engineers who enjoy tinkering with their pilots' ICEs.

FEU-053 "Arbiter"

The Arbiter is another derivative of the Explorer line, although the structure of the frame is very different from either the Explorer or the Warden. The technical reason for the Arbiter's creation is for it to aid in the removal of obstructions and space debris, but in combat, the Arbiter acts more as a heavy weapons turret than a regular ICE, capable of unloading very large amounts of ammunition.

The Arbiter, much like its predecessors, has a humanoid skeleton. Its legs are much thicker and have no hardpoints in order to facilitate six rods, one on the front of each leg, and two on each back. These rods have points in the end that allow them to stick into the ground when swiveled down, forming large anchors that root the Arbiter into whatever it is that its standing on. This allows it to better handle the recoil from the large stock of weapons on the upper half of its body. The Arbiter has a large block on its left shoulder, which can open up to reveal an enormous rack of missiles. There are compact beam rifles built inside its forearms, which can be released and fired by opening up armor plating. The Arbiter's main piece of equipment is an enormous beam cannon attached to its back, capable of swinging up onto the right shoulder. The beam cannon takes a full 30 seconds to charge, and can only be fired once before the mobile suit has to go back to refill its energy. A direct hit from the beam cannon can total an ICE with full beam shielding or do serious damage to the hull of a ship.

To help with its aiming, the Arbiter has an external camera on the side of its head, along with the dual main cameras from the Warden. The Arbiter has stritium armor, but its joints are made out of the same titanium alloy that covers the Warden in order to help it handle the recoil of the beam cannon. The Arbiter is a powerful ICE, but is ill-suited for close combat, as most of its weapons are intended for long-range encounters. Once it anchors itself for a surface, the Arbiter is slow to release itself, so if a suit gets in close while the Arbiter is locked down, it can lead to serious trouble, especially since the Arbiter has beam shielding on the level of the original Explorer, not allowing it to take too many hits. Like all the others in the Explorer line, the Arbiter has an escape pod.

"Sureshot"

The Sureshot is an ICE that saw plenty of use during the great war, but like the Brawler, it has not seen widespread use among FEU forces. It is popular among the space-faring populace, however, as it is a dependable, powerful unit. Its only demerit in the eyes of most Voyager and pirate crews is its price tag - the Sureshot is one of the more expensive ICEs on the market, due to its finicky wiring and mechanics, along with just being rare.

The Sureshot, rather than having a visor for a face, has two "eyes" that house the main cameras with a gray faceplate. These eyes, although more difficult to maintain and repair if it does get damaged, give the Sureshot crisper sight than most ICEs and are less vulnerable to attack. They glow a menacing bright red, in contrast to the black helmet that houses the internal functions of its camera. If the Sureshot needs to see even further than it already can, a visor on its forehead can swivel down over its eyes. This limits the suit's overall field of vision, which is why it doesn't just have it on all the time, but it allows it to pinpoint sights much further away. The Sureshot has a thin frame, with little wasted bulk and a sharp aesthetic.

Because of the Sureshot's capabilities, it is most often used in the role of a sniper, taking out key targets from a great distance. However, due to a large amount of thrusters and a lithe frame, the Sureshot is fast enough to engage in mid-to-close range combat. It has Stritium armor and most models have powerful beam shielding. Its advanced design indicates that it was created late into the war, and the relative "newness" of most models found on the market today augment this idea. Due to its high price and high potential, the Sureshot is favored among the private police on the F14M35 sector.
