There's a precedent set in this League of resigning the best pitcher in Baseball at $13.5 million(Halladay, Verlander).

I can't argue that he's not....

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but Kershaw IMO is setting a new standard. With his numbers and that he is 3 years younger than Verlander was when that last contract was handed out says a lot about his talent. Taking on a contract of age 26-30 seasons sounds a hell of a lot better than age 29-33.

I see Trout and Kershaw as players who raise the bar and thus their contracts should reflect as such. Not crazy higher but an extra $1.5 million wouldn't hurt.
