GM's should NEVER place bids, that if won, send them over the Salary Cap.

If they do...they run the risk of being penalized.

Makers(A's GM) was playing that game when he placed the $13,500,000 bid on Pat Burrell at 6:35 PM on 3/27.

Astros bailed him out when he made his $15,000,000 bid at 9:55.

As it turns out...Astros bid was illegal and he was subsequently penalized.

But the fact remains that Makers placed a bid that placed him in jeopardy of going over the Cap.
He played a dangerous game...and got burned.
If Astros never makes that bid then Makers gets penalized anyway.

So Makers cap hit has nothing to do with Astros.

If the situation was different....If Makers had bid on Delgado AFTER ASTROS BID ON BURRELL....then I'd say a rule exception was in order.

But with the facts being what they are....Astros and A's must BOTH receive the appropriate Cap hits.

Burrell and Delgado should be re-opened for 24 hours with the highest offer on the table pre-ceding Astros and A's Invalid bids.

Having taken their Cap hits, Astros and A's should be allowed to participate in these players auction.

Steve will make the final decision though.

*And Makers...you know I love you buddy....but the facts speak for themselves on this one.
If you hadn't have made the 6:35 PM bid on Burrell I'd be on your side.

Please pick option 1, 2 or 3, pretty please. Lets get this done asap. I have tried to get in touch with Steve, we need to figure this out quickly.

I've clearly stated what my opinion is.

I'll wait for Steve to make his ruling.

Fine. Maybe we will have a ruling before the season. You could have helped this along by just picking one but that would be too easy.

I have tried to reach Steve about this matter since last night.

These are the votes that we need to hear the most from as they are the confirmed to return TAB.

JoeyTTU (RangersGM) -- Relooking things over.
Brewers GM
Padres GM -- Option #3
Mets GM -- Option #2
Rockies GM
Astros GM -- No Vote on matter

For some reason I thought Spin was too but he was not listed here, maybe it was due to non-confirmed at the time of its posting.

Non-Commish/TAB

Dodgers - Option #2

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Option 1: 0 Votes

*Astros takes cap hit for Burrell
*Makers wins Burrell, no hit for Delgado
*Mariners wins Delgado

Option 2: 2 Vote

*Astros takes cap hit
*Makers wins Burrell, takes hit for Delgado
*Mariners wins Delgado

Option 3: 1 Vote

*Astros Takes Cap Hit
*Makers Takes Cap Hit
*Pat Burrell and Carlos Delgado are completely started over and we allow both makers and Astros to bid, they have less money to use anyway and both must post their current cap room PRIOR to placing a bid for either player.

Personally I am thinking #3 myself, both take a hit and re-start from the beginning Burrell and Delgado.

I vote for option two. It's a really unfortunate situation, but I think option 2 is the closest to being fair.

First off. AstrosGM and PadresGM I see where you are coming from as far as me having a lot of money on the table, but I was just trying to keep both players alive in bidding. You guys are both seem to be amateurs at these kind of leagues, because I've been in them for about 5 years now. So you learn how to work Free Agency, then you can complain about how I was bidding.

Because if you look at it, I would have never ended up in Cap trouble had StrosGM been better at handling his money.

And if Option 3 happens. I am out of this league. Sorry, But I deserve the right to have one of these players, battling in Free Agency for them. Cap hit or not.

Option 1 and 2 is whatever, if you guys vote for that, fine.

I do agree with MetsGM, Option 2 is the closest to being fair.

Option 3 = Find a new A's gm, because that is just ridiculous. Shouldn't even be an option. And Joey, you know that. Your fucking me over big time.

Maybe you should read better makers because option 3 states you would both be ALLOWED to re-bid on them.

I don't want to re-bid on them and allow people who dropped out at the very beginning, who didn't get the other guys they want and have money sitting around to get back in and drive the price even further. You guys need to seriously think this through.

Maybe you and Astros should have done a better job with your money and not put us in this position to begin with.

We are doing the best we can to fix two GMs who clearly did not watch their money properly so give us a break. This I am going to quit if I dont get my way is bullshit and i expect more from you Matt(makers) than to threaten that.

My vote is unofficial as I am going to re-look over the bidding in both Burrell and Delgado. My vote likely will come down to #2 or #3.

Ruling

Makers is willing to take the hit for Delgado, therefore, there is really no reason to debate this anymore.

Pat Burrell is awarded to makers, Astros takes a cap hit for Burrell.

Carlos Delgado is awarded to Mariners, makers takes a cap hit for Delgado.

All is right in the world.

Well Joey, in the PM I just sent you I explained that I have no problem with Option 2. Earlier I was just giving AstrosGM a bad time about being against it just to piss him off.

Here is how this should go down, to make it the most fair for everyone involved.

- Pat Burrell was won by AstrosGM, but that put him over the cap, so therefore he goes to next in line Bidder which is Me(A'sGM) and Astros GM takes the cap hit that he got.

- Carlos Delgado was won by A'sGM, but that put him over the cap, so therefore he goes to next in line Bidder which is MarinersGM, and A'sGm takes the cap hit.
